China travel - Hangzhou Xixi Wetland Folkways And Custom

Wedding on Boat:
The local Xixi wedding customs are quite unique because this area, from ancient time, is a dense river network and one cannot reach the other side without a boat. In the past, a brideggroom used a "boat seddan" to carry his bride. The seddan chair was put in the front cabin to the bride's house by boat. Next, it was taken out to receive the bride and put back to the boat. Then the sedan was taken to the bridegroom's home and carried to the front hall directly with the bride. After that, it was the wedding ceremony and their nuptial chamber night. It differs a lot from today's wedding in relatives' dressing, wedding procedures, chamber night etiquettes, honeymoon room decoration and other customs.

The Bride Getting on the Sedan Chair:
Accompanied by the matchmaker, the bride got onto the seden chair. While the matchmaker lifted up the sedan chair curtain, the bride stepped into the bridal sedan chair. This step means leaving her accustomed own family and becoming a daughter-in-law of another family. Other than shyness of a young gril, the bride probably also felt fidgety. However, she could not carelessly breath her etiquette. **End Summary** Topics: China travel Hangzhou Xixi Wetland Folkways And Custom
About the Author:
More flights, airlines information at: <a href="http://www.travel2chinainfo.com/direct-flight-columbus-ohio-las-vegas.htm">Columbus to vegas</a> .

Home to what might be China's best waters for scuba and snorkeling, Wuzhizhou Island lies within easy reach of Sanya and makes for a nice alternative to the increasingly busy resort town's enclaves of five-star hotels and overdeveloped beachfront.

Wuzhizhou Island was known as Guqizhou Island in ancient times and the earliest records date from the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911), when a temple was built to commemorate the originator of Chinese characters, Cang Jie. Following the Qing Government's fall from power, the villagers rebuilt the temple to honor the Goddess Matsu, who bestowed good fortune on the local fishermen. From 1949 Wuzhizhou Island became an important strategic defense zone. However, from the 1990s, the island began to enjoy a completely new role as a romantic place for holiday and leisure.

Divers will appreciate the clear seas (10-30 meters visibility, depending on location and weather), especially off the southern end of the island, where coral reefs host a colorful range of tropical sea life.

Traffic:
(1). There is a tour bus (line 28) connecting Sanya East Bus Station (Sanya Qichedongzhan) with Wuzhizhou Island. You can choose it if you wanna save some money.

Yong He Gong, or the Palace of Harmony and Peace, and widely known as the Lama Temple, is a best preserved Tibetan Buddhist temple in China. Located in An Ding Men, Dongcheng District, the Lama temple covers 66,400 square meters and is 480 meters long from north to south and 120 meters wide from east to west. The architecture, ornaments and size of the temple is comparable to the Forbidden City therefore it is recognized that it is a miniature royal palace and a Buddhist temple of the highest ranking in China. In fact the Lama Temple was originally associated with the royal family. It was first built as a residence for Prince Yinzhen, the fourth son of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. Prince Yinzhen was known as the Yong Prince, so the palace was called Yong He Palace. After Prince Yong took the supreme power in 1725 (Emperor Yongzhen), he moved his residence to the Forbidden City and turned half of this old home into a temple for the Yellow Sect of Tibetan Buddhism.

Yong He Gong is the biggest Buddhist temple in Beijing and is supposed to be the temple which makes every wish come true. **End Summary** Topics: Yong He Gong Beijing China Travel Guide Tips
About the Author:
More flights, airlines information at: <a href="http://www.travel2chinainfo.com/atl-to-rdu.htm">atl to rdu</a> .
West Lake is like the sparkling eye of a charming woman, also like a precious stone on a crown. Embedded in the beautiful city of Hangzhou, West Lake is the favorite place of both the residents of Hangzhou and the tourists. For thousands of years, the West Lake is prestigious throughout the world for its charming natural sceneries and abundant historical relics. Everyone who has been to West Lake would be deeply touched by its stunning beauty. Located in the west of Hangzhou, West Lake is not only beautiful for the lake itself, but also the surrounding mountains. The mountains are not high but lush and elegant, decorated with peculiar stones and clean streams. Bridges wiggle on the surface of the water and pavilions are hidden behind the trees and bushes. When spring comes, willows stand by the lake and caress the water, and birds sing in the verdant branches - what delicate scenery!

West Lake has attracted many people since ancient China, including famous poets and writers. The prestigious writer Su Shi described the West Lake "is a beautiful girl, who looks attractive in different ways, both in light and heavy make-up". **End Summary** Topics: West Lake Hangzhou China Travel Guide
About the Author:
More flights, airlines information at: <a href="http://www.travel2chinainfo.com/direct-flight-columbus-ohio-las-vegas.htm">Columbus to vegas</a> .
