The Hot Condo Market in Toronto

The Toronto condos market is booming, and condo developers are struggling to meet the demand. Whether a first-time buyer or a seasoned veteran, chances are there is the perfect condo for you.

The vast majority of condos in Toronto have been built in the last decade, contributing to a dramatic shift in demographics. Many homeowners today no longer live in a traditional house structure; rather, they have chosen to live in a condominium. And with such a diverse selection in a hot market, it is no surprise that condo developers are still continuing to explore sites for new structures.

What is a Condominium?

A condominium is a complex of several units. Each unit is owned by an individual, who receives a deed of ownership. There may be restrictions on ownership, as outlined by the organization or company that owns the complex, however, the owner has the right to sell, mortgage, etc. their unit. Common areas, such as the hallways or lobbies, are shared jointly. Condos in Toronto, and everywhere else in the world, follow this definition. It is typical that each owner pay a monthly fee that goes toward the general maintenance of the complex. **End Summary** Topics: toronto condos toronto condo developers
About the Author:
This article was brought to you by Toronto Condos

What Types of Cosmetic Surgery Are Available

Cosmetic surgery comes in many forms. What follows is an attempt to cover some of the more popular types. It is in no way exhaustive. As with any type of elective surgery, there may be many options available to the individual. Options range from the type of procedure, technique used, and not just the physician themselves. Each option carries its own attendant risks. As such, they should be reviewed carefully with a qualified physician.
Breast augmentation: this essentially involves the use of a prosthetic device to change - usually increase - the size of an individual's breasts. Over time, advances have been made in the type of prosthetic used since the 1970s. However, all employ a type of silicone shell filled with a solution that is then implanted. The solution itself consists of either saline or a silicone gel. Regardless, as in the past the risk of the implant's rupture remains. However, this risk appears to have been greatly reduced. Yet, follow-up checkups are required to ensure this.
The main techniques used for this procedure are sub-glandular, sub-fascial, and sub-muscular. In addition, there are variations on these techniques based on the incision used by the surgeon. **End Summary** Topics: cosmetic surgeon toronto ontario canada
About the Author:

Botox was called botulin toxin type A. Somehow the brand name, Botox Cosmetic, sounded a lot less intimidating. Still, after doing some homework, it seemed like it was the right thing for me.

Younger, I never really looked a whole lot at myself in the mirror. Looking back, it was probably because of how insecure I was about myself, and I didn't like what I saw in the reflection. In any event, with time, that insecurity became a thing of the past. It was something I thought was part of an insecure childhood. However, with time, I grew out of that insecurity and really began to notice how I looked - especially my face.

It's not like we're born to look the same forever. However, with middle age coming on, I started noticing the lines. They weren't a big deal at first. There were just a few of them on the face. It was with time that they began to grow more numerous. It became harder to crack a smile without suddenly remembering them. Finally, it got to a point where it was difficult to just ignore. **End Summary** Topics: botox injection toronto ontario
About the Author:

Breast Augmentation From Another Side

Whenever I brought up the subject of breast augmentation, I could hear my partner begin to grumble. She'd always been against it, opposed to it and happy to say no to it. Her point was that cosmetic surgery should be used for reconstruction, except in extreme cases. She couldn't see the point of trying to make one's self appear more attractive, primarily according to what OTHER people thought was attractive. As far as she was concerned, it was far more important that the individual themselves be concerned about their body image.

On the other hand, this was coming from someone who managed to attract the occasional stare of both genders whenever we went out. Her body was something that made her overly self-conscious as a teenager, due to its beauty in shape and form. However, by the time she left high school and started working, she soon got over it. And besides, she could deal with anyone's ogle if it ever got to be harassing.

I, on the other hand, didn't have the serious self-image issues she had as a teenager. And in some ways, that was the problem. **End Summary** Topics: breast augmentation toronto ontario
About the Author:

Factors in Deciding on Cosmetic Surgery

Various forms of cosmetic surgery exist today. All have the aim of altering the physical appearance of an individual. An implicit - sometimes explicit - part of this alteration, change or transformation is the individual's image of themselves as well; not only how they see themselves, but how they see themselves seen by the people around them. For this reason, there are two elements at stake in cosmetic surgery: the physical and the psychological.

Valid advertisements of cosmetic surgery do not represent themselves as the be all and end all. They allow the individual to understand that it's a complex process with many factors to consider. Even a simple goal like having a smoother stomach, can become complicated by the various procedures available. Even then, the range of techniques. In the end, a consultation is always recommended, with a review of the various options available. As well, the attendant risks. What follows is an attempt to acquaint the reader with some of the issues regarding the procedures available. It does not explore what - if any - legal restrictions there may be depending upon where the procedure is done. **End Summary** Topics: cosmetic surgeon toronto ontario
About the Author:

What Tummy Tucks Are About

The tummy tuck is a form of cosmetic surgery also known as abdominoplasty. Its purpose is to change the appearance of the abdomen to a more desirable shape. Hence, the popular term, tummy tuck. It involves the removal of excess skin and fat from the mid and lower abdomen to create a smooth and flatter appearance. This normally includes/results in a tightening of the muscles of the abdominal wall. A tummy tuck procedure is usually taken because the individual has been unable to achieve desired results through normal diet and exercise. This may be common for those that have experienced sudden weight loss or are older, as in both cases a flat stomach cannot be acquired through exercise and diet alone. In particular, tummy tucks are popular amongst women who have had children but do not intend on bearing children in the future.

While there are various types of tummy tucks, they tend to fall into two categories: partial abdominoplasty and complete abdominoplasty.

The former category consists of a small incision made between the hips, just above the pubic area. This is followed by the removal of excess skin between the incision and the navel, and stitches. **End Summary** Topics: tummy tuck toronto ontario
About the Author:

Laser Hair Removal and Me

This is about my first experience with laser hair removal. It was... well... memorable. I hadn't done my homework. I'd gone to a cheap place that was on my way to work. It was a small shady looking clinic. They called it laser electrolysis. Money was the issue at the time. It was almost half the price of some of the others I'd glanced over. Unfortunately, it shouldn't have been the driving issue. Consequently, I regretted it dearly. The people there said, it would be painless and a sure thing. Permanent hair removal for good. Looking back, I realized how important it was to have consulted a qualified dermatologist first and foremost. In several weeks, the hair had grown back.

By the time the hair had grown back, the thought of going through it all again had nearly vanished. It wasn't until chatting with a friend over coffee, did it come back. She told me about how she'd found a good dermatologist. She had some skin and hair problems that'd been nagging her for a while. Regarding the hair, her dermatologist mentioned the option of laser hair removal, which came in two main types. **End Summary** Topics: laser hair removal toronto ontario canada
About the Author:

Liposuction and Me

Liposuction is body contouring. Body contouring is liposuction? That pretty much described how little I knew about liposuction at first. In fact, going in for cosmetic surgery had never even entered my mind until a few years ago.

My body used to be like a yo-yo. Diet and exercise would work to some extent but then fail me. It failed to get rid of that extra bit of fat on my body. The final part I'd tried so hard to slim. It wasn't like I wanted to be an anorexic, nor become a paperweight model. It was the outline of my body. The shape around my thighs would always be out of proportion after dieting. Feeling let down, I'd drop my diet and exercise regime. The weight would come back. Things would then get to a point where I found myself back at square one, wanting to give it another try. It was after my last ordeal, and talking for hours with a friend, that she suggested liposuction to me.

This wasn't what I wanted to hear. But my friend also knew what it took to drag me out of self-pity mode. A wake up call. **End Summary** Topics: liposuction toronto ontario
About the Author:

Why I Chose Breast Augmentation

Breast augmentation had never been a top concern for me. Ditto for cosmetic surgery. It had always seemed like a cop out. As if the people who went under the knife for it did it because they were insecure. Not only that, but they thought it would be the "be all and end all" for them. In other words, they'd still feel insecure after the fact because they hadn't dealt with the real problem. Their own self-image.

Then one day, I saw some interviews with women who had done it. It really blew me away. They weren't insecure. They were happy for having done it. It wasn't like they felt they HAD to. They wanted to regardless of what other people thought or said. So, it was their OWN decision. They knew the risks, had heard all the stuff in the past in the news about the safety of implants.

It's hard to describe how it felt to hear them. It felt... Well, it was kind of empowering. Their bodies, their choice. That's what I got out of it. And so, that's when I realized that all my negative obsessing about breast augmentation was wrong, a cover up. **End Summary** Topics: breast augmentation toronto ontario canada
About the Author:
This article has been brought to you by ...

Good Water Drainage For Your Home

Prior to the 1960s, the majority of homes were built with a water management system that drained directly into municipal storm sewers. Unfortunately, this type of drainage system is now considered illegal in many parts of North America. In many instances, storm water collected by each home was too much for the municipality to handle, overflowing into the sanitary sewer system. Sewage treatment plants could not accommodate the amount of runoff water that flowed into the system, discharging tons of untreated sewage into lakes and streams in the area. As these lakes and streams are also sources of drinking water for the area, the situation posed a serious health threat for inhabitants.

Most downspouts attached to homes are now designed to eliminate runoff water by simply discharging it on the ground, near the base of the house, or slightly further away. Downspouts may also be attached to an underground drainage system, also known as a French Drain. However, this design is costly, requiring professional routine clearance of debris and other clogging substances in the underground piping. Both types do not discharge water directly into the municipal storm sewer; runoff water needs to travel before reaching the sewer. **End Summary** Topics: soil erosion control downspout extenders downspout extensions
About the Author:

What's Liposuction About?

Liposuction is a form of cosmetic surgery that aims to remove fat from certain parts of the body. The procedure is also known as Lipoplasty or Suction Lipectomy. Popular areas of the body, which this procedure has been used for, include the abdomen, thighs, arms and buttocks. As this is a surgical method of fat removal, it is NOT considered an alternative to diet and/or exercise. In fact the goal of liposuction is often referred to as "body contouring" as opposed to weight loss.

Since the 1980s, Liposuction has undergone many changes in order to minimize the risks involved. As such, there are a variety of techniques available, which may not require the use of a general anesthesia. Usually, a local anesthesia is preferred as it reduces the risks associated with a general one - besides any prolonged hospital stay.

Each technique has its pros and cons; factors can include the condition of the individual themselves and the physician. Generally speaking though, the individual should be in good health, an adult, have tried diet and exercise, yet still find a significant amount of fat left on their body. **End Summary** Topics: liposuction toronto ontario
About the Author:

All There Is About Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is, technically speaking, epilation by laser or with the use of a special light. Besides the body, certain types of laser hair removal may safely be used to reduce facial hair as well. The laser (or light) of a particular wavelength is used to cause damage to dark elements in hair follicles. These elements are referred to as chromophores. They can be artificially produced or naturally occurring.

Today, most techniques target naturally occurring chromophores, in particular, melanin. Melanin gives colour to both hair and skin. Of the former, there are two types: eumelanin and pheomelanin. Eumelanin gives a brown or black colour. The latter gives a blonde or red colour. Since the dark matter in hair follicles are the target, only the former - darker - type of hair is suitable for this procedure.

While laser hair removal became a commercial cosmetic procedure about 10 years ago, it has been experimented with well before then. In fact, medical lasers have been used to remove dark spots, acne scars, other types of skin blemishes and even tattoos. The point about laser hair removal is that, it's not permanent.
Getting Rid of Runoff Water

Water can be detrimental to your home. Any rain and snow falling on your roof is your home's enemy, and should be eliminated as efficiently as possible. Accumulated water can easily seep into the structure of your home, whether on the roof or the foundation, and result in serious damage.

Preventing water from damaging your home is the first step towards a happy home. All that is needed for good surface drainage is a properly angled roof, gutters, downspouts, and downspout extensions.

The roof is the first step to eliminating runoff water. It should be appropriately angled according to the environment in which it stands. Higher pitched roofs are common in areas where there is heavier snowfall, as falling snow can easily slide off the roof. In areas where there is a lot of rainfall, it is important that roofs be pitched in a manner that allows rainwater to flow into the gutters. This will prevent water from accumulating on the roof and destroying it. Therefore, most homes in North America are not flat, as it is more difficult to eliminate runoff water.

Your roof angles runoff water into the gutters attached along its perimeter. **End Summary** Topics: soil erosion control foundation water damage prevention gutters
About the Author:

Cosmetic Surgery in a Nutshell

Cosmetic surgery, like other forms of elective surgery, involves a physical change to one's appearance. Also known as plastic surgery, there are two kinds: cosmetic and reconstruction. The latter involves returning an individual's sense of self after some form of injury and/or illness. The former allows the ability to overcome the physical characteristics one was born with. In a way, the former represents the forefront of how changes in technology can allow changes to the human body.

This surgery comes in all types, from the use of prosthetics as in breast augmentation and liposuction to non-invasive forms of surgery like laser hair removal or even laser correction of the eyes to eliminate the need for eye glasses.

None of this comes without a price however. Besides financial concerns, it remains the responsibility of the individual who will undergo such surgery. For this reason, they do need the support of those around them. This is the kind of support that not only affects their decision, but their ability to assimilate the surgical changes to the body.

In the case of surgery for cosmetic - as oppposed to reconstruction - purposes is the issue of aesthetics. **End Summary** Topics: cosmetic surgeon tummy tuck toronto ontario canada
About the Author:

Everything You Need To Know About Judo Uniforms

Since it was created in 1882 by Kano Jigoro of Japan, Judo has become one of the most popular martial arts in the world. It is quite a rigorous and physically demanding sport, appearing in several major international sports competitions. As a result, when partaking in judo training, it is important that a high quality judo uniform, or gi in Japanese, be worn to avoid tearing and damage.

Judo uniforms are generally constructed out of 100% cotton, bleached white. Cotton is the best choice for breathability. Care should be taken when laundering, as most judo uniforms are not pre-shrunken and will shrink up to a full size from excess heat. Therefore, washing in cool water and air drying is highly recommended to avoid shrinkage.

There are three pieces to the judo uniform: the jacket, the belt, and the pants. The jacket is quilted with a thick pliable collar and wide sleeves. Two short splits are on either side of the hip, which are reinforced with extra cloth. The jacket is secured with a belt, coloured according to level, wrapped tightly around the body and knotted. The pants feature an elasticized drawstring waist with wide legs to allow for movement. **End Summary** Topics: martial arts equipment toronto ontario canada
About the Author:

All There is To Know About Botox Injections

In general, Botox is the brand name for a botulin toxin type A, of which there are subtypes. The type B variety (BTX-B) is known as Neurobloc in the E.U. or Myobloc in the U.S.A. Both are employed in medical and/or therapeutic purposes. Botox itself is more popularly known for it's non-surgical cosmetic function. It is also known as Vistabel in the E.U. and Dysport.

In the 1950s, although experimented with much earlier, very small injections of botulin toxin type A (BTX-A) were used to decrease overactive muscle activity. In that same period, it was experimented with in cosmetic treatments. In 1989, in the U.S., Allergan Inc. got approval from the F.D.A. and named their drug Botox. Approval for its cosmetic use came in 2002, when researchers discovered is cosmetic effects.

Technically speaking, botulin toxin type A (BTX-A) is produced by bacteria. Once processed, its injection serves to interfere with nerve impulses, amongst other things. As such, it has come to serve many purposes in non-surgical cosmetic treatment, namely the removal of lines. However, its effects are not permanent, so future injections may be required. **End Summary** Topics: botox injection cosmetic surgery toronto ontario canada
About the Author:

The Main Benefits of Endermologie

Cellulite. Those trapped pockets of fat near the surface of the skin that make your skin look bumpy and puckered. Unappealing to most, it appears in problematic areas such as the upper thighs, buttocks, and stomach where many fibrous bands exist to trap fat. Since these areas are slow to react to the benefits of exercise, once cellulite appears, it is often difficult and impossible for those affected to eliminate it. Unfortunately, it is a common occurrence in women even if they do exercise on a regular basis.

Several creams and pills flood the market boasting their curative properties fighting cellulite, but most are only very temporary solutions to a permanent problem. Other treatment methods with longer lasting results can be acquired from cosmetic procedures involving invasive surgery, such as liposuction. However, these are not viable options for those unwilling to go under the knife for the sake of their vanity.

Is there no remedy to “Orange Peel” or “Cottage Cheese” skin, then?

Of course not! In treatments that are about 40 minutes in length, Endermologie® reduces or eliminates cellulite with long lasting results in a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that is not surgical. It is also less expensive than liposuction. **End Summary** Topics: endermologie liposuction toronto
About the Author:
