Adult Nocturnal Enuresis Or Bedwetting: What Can Be Done?

Though it is common in childhood, bedwetting or enuresis can also affect adults, negatively impacting on confidence and self esteem.

According to research, at least 1% of all adults over the age of 18 experience this distressing complaint. Many people may have suffered their entire life with bedwetting, while still others may have little or no history of enuresis and only begin experiencing it later in life.

Most often occurring at night, while sleeping, adult bed wetting can also happen when napping or dozing off during the daytime.

There is the possibility that enuresis has a genetic component, since it can run in families, but we know that it can also be caused by physical issues such as prostate enlargement, diabetes and urinary tract infections etc.

Research has found that the neurological system may be slow in processing the sensation that comes from a full bladder in some people. There is a possibility that an overactive or unstable bladder may also be involved.

For these reasons it is always wisest to consult with your doctor before considering treatment of a psychological nature.

Psychological difficulties are a major cause of wetting the bed as an adult. **End Summary** Topics: enuresis adult bed wetting self esteem hypnosis stop wetting the bed adult nocturnal enuresis wet the bed stop bed wetting adult bedwetting self hypno
About the Author:
Fellow of the Royal Society of Health, Peter Field is the originator of the 3 Step Hypnosis-Slimming System, a new and effective way to <a href="http://hypnosis-slimming.com/">lose weight with hypnosis</a> .
Lactose Intolerance – What It Is and What To Do About It

Lactose is the name of the sugar found in milk and in milk products. For most people this sugar is easily assimilated, but many find themselves reacting to it in a way that adversely affects them. These people have what is known as 'lactose intolerance'.

When a person is lactose intolerant it means that he or she has an inability to properly digest milk sugar, and this is a problem that is far more common than is generally known. In reality, a large proportion of lactose intolerance sufferers are unaware that they have it.

Between 30 and 50 million Americans and more than 5% of the population of the UK will become lactose intolerant by the time they are 20 years old. The prevalence rate in Australia is around 6% and 9% in New Zealand. Though most people adversely affected by lactose are of Asian, African, Mediterranean or Native American ancestry, it can affect anyone of any racial background. It is far less common amongst Europeans and those whose dietary tradition contains milk and milk products. **End Summary** Topics: lactose intolerance lactose intolerence lactose intolerant lactose intolerance symptoms signs of lactose intolerance lactose intolerance signs lactose
About the Author:
Peter Field is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health, and creator of the Hypnosis-Slimming System, a radical new way to lose weight by&nbsp; <a href="http://www.hypnosis-slimming.com/">hypnosis slimming</a> .
What Is Vaginismus And Vaginitis And How Can They Be Treated?

Though their names and some symptoms are similar, vaginismus and vaginitis are quite different.

Vaginismus is the name given to the condition that causes the involuntary tightening of muscles around the vagina when being penetrated. Such muscular contraction may occur regardless of the object of penetration, whether it is the male organ, a tampon, finger or a personal vibrator.

The muscles can even become so tight with vaginismus that it can preclude the possibility of intercourse.

Aside from the tightening which is common in vaginismus, often there is a burning sensation when anything is inserted into the vagina.

Vaginitis is different however, in that it is the name we give to vaginal inflammation or infection.

There are several different types of vaginitis. These range from bacterial and yeast infections, infection caused by a single cell parasite that is transmitted during sexual contact with a partner and called 'trichomoniasis', to non-infectious vaginitis that is the result of a sensitivity to certain soaps, fabric softeners, spermicidal products etc.

Symptoms of vaginitis include itching, irritation and abnormal discharge.

Treatment depends, of course, on the type of vaginitis. Yeast infections can be cleared with a cream or suppository. **End Summary** Topics: Vaginismus vaginismus treatment treating vaginismus treatments for vaginismus what is vaginismus vaginitis vaginal pain atrophic vaginitis vaginismus
About the Author:
Peter Field is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and creator of the revolutionary, new 3 Step <a href="http://hypnosis-slimming.com">Hypnosis Slimming</a> &nbsp;system.
Stop Feeling Blue! - What To Do When You Feel Down

Let's face it - there are times in everyone's life when we're going to feel down.

Not even a saint or a Buddha can always be on top of the world, brimming with joy and happiness. Mixed right in with the highs we are going to have some lows. It just comes with the territory of being alive.

Each of us is influenced by a variety of different things: our history, our health, our hormones, the weather, our family, our work and our social contacts.

But when we've been feeling down on a regular basis then maybe it's time to look at our life and what we can do to regain our balance. When the blues come calling there's always a reason, and for those times when life seems to be a bit of a drudge there's always a solution.

The first thing to remember when you're feeling down is that it's completely natural. It doesn't necessarily mean that there's something wrong with you. It does mean that you're human. (If you have been feeling depressed for more than a week or two then it would be wise to visit your doctor. **End Summary** Topics: feel down feeling down feeling blue pick yourself up how to pick myself up how to stop feeling blue feeling sad how to feel good feeling good about my
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and creator of the revolutionary new <a href="http://www.hypnosis-slimming.com">Hypnosis Slimming</a> systematic weight loss program.
Do Slimming Pills and Supplements Really Lead To Weight Loss?

We are now a nation of overweight people.

The terrible truth is that it has now become normal to be fat. In fact, more than half of us are now either clinically obese or very much overweight.

The epidemic of obesity that has swept through North America, the UK and Australia has brought with it a host of major health problems from diabetes to heart disease. Nowadays, being overweight and being sick has become the rule rather than the exception. It is now the norm.

Why are so many people now overweight?

Well, we don't need to be rocket scientists to understand that the reason is because we're consuming more calories than we burn. The fast paced, fast food lifestyle that so many of us are forced into fills our bodies with too much sugar, fat and salt.

Calorie-rich fast foods, convenience foods, snacks, candy bars and drinks laced with sugars and corn syrup all contribute to the pandemic of obesity that has now become the norm. **End Summary** Topics: weight loss best way to lose weight best diet healthy eating slimming pills slimming supplements how to reduce weight hypnotherapy for weight loss hyp
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and creator of the revolutionary new 3 Step Hypnosis-Slimming System.

Anyone can feel anxious; it just seems to come with life's territory. Usually though there is a good reason for our anxiety and, given just a little time it fades and passes and we pick ourselves up and get on with our lives.

When it comes to chronic anxiety, however, things are considerably different. Unlike panic attacks and social anxiety, other forms of anxiety disorder that usually manifest when the person is already adult, GAD may well have existed for as long as the person can really remember.

This kind of anxiety it termed GAD -- Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

People with GAD usually find themselves worrying to an irrational level and degree. Such anxiety can really disrupt a person's life, with one worry replacing another and anticipated disaster lurking just around the bend.

GAD is very often accompanied by a variety of physical difficulties. These can include general fatigue and tiredness, irritability and insomnia, difficulty in focusing and nausea.

Though research has demonstrated that GAD tends to be more common in women than in men, it really can affect anyone. It's estimated that about 5% of people suffer from Generalized Anxiety Disorder, GAD. **End Summary** Topics: GAD Treatment Geralized Anxiety Disorder Generalised Anxiety Disorder Therapy for GAD Treatment for Generalized Anxiety Disorder GAD Generalized Anxie
About the Author:
Peter Field is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Health and creator of the&nbsp; <a href="http://hypnosis-slimming.com/">Hypnosis Slimming</a> &nbsp;weight loss system.
Treatment And Prevention Of Rhinitis And Pollen Allergy

The symptoms of hay fever are impossible to ignore if you have them.

The runny nose, itchy watery eyes, the redness and the sneezing; the way it stops you from concentrating and gives you that awful lackluster feeling.

Hay fever can severely affect a person's life, making spring and summer an especially trying time and turning the changing seasons into a real ordeal.

Its proper medical name is allergic rhino conjunctivitis, though it is also known as seasonal allergic rhinitis. It is a condition linked to something called oral allergy syndrome and is the most common allergy that there is.

Occurring mostly in the spring and summer months, hay fever is believed to affect over 50 million people in the USA and more than 16 million people in the UK. Canada is estimated to have around 5 million hay fever sufferers and Australia about 3.5 million.

But clearly, in this case there is no safety - or comfort - in numbers. If you have hay fever then it's your life that is being affected and all you really want is to find a way to end the misery.

The causes of hay fever are widely known. **End Summary** Topics: What is hay fever allergic rhinitis rhinitis pollen allergy hay fever symptoms hay fever remedy hay fever remedies hay fever treatments hay fever reli
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist and Fellow of the Royal Society of Health.
Conquer Low Self Esteem With Hypnotherapy

Everyone was born with confidence and self esteem. Feeling good about ourself is the way we were born to be. It's really our natural state.

As children, however, we can pass through experiences that either solidify this innate sense of self-esteem, strengthening our self-belief, or we may pass through experiences that in some way lessen and diminish it. Children, after all, are not in the most robust of positions, simply because in childhood the power balance is so unequal. Adults have the power to tell us what is right and wrong, whether we are good or bad. They have the power to make us feel secure or afraid, happy or sad.

It is these experiences through which we pass in our early formative years that influence the way we perceive ourselves. This is what either strengthens or weakens our self-esteem, writing the script that we follow even when we are fully grown.

When our self-esteem is high then it feels good to be alive and the world feels like a great place to be. **End Summary** Topics: self-esteem low self esteem self confidence self belief how to increase self esteem increase self esteem increase self belief improve self esteem impr
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and Fellow of the Royal Society of Health.
Eye Health Care: Eyes And Their Health Secrets

Our eyes can tell us quite a lot about our general health just by looking at them or by assessing how they feel.

However, doctors and trained medical professionals are able to diagnose a great many health issues from specific examination of the eyes. This is one reason why it is important to have regular eye checkups.

Blepharitis

Blepharitis is a common disease of the eyelids. Inflammation and soreness occurs because of dry eyes and so both the eye and the inner eyelids are not receiving the lubrication they require. Though over the counter eye drops may be of help, a visit to the optician or doctor would be wise.

Bloodshot Eyes

Small blood veins showing across the whites of the eye can be an indication of being in a draft/draught. If the condition lasts for more than a week and includes pain or discharge in any way, then a doctor should be consulted as antibiotics may be required. Bloodshot eyes may also be symptomatic of hypertension or diabetes, so check with your doctor or medical advisor if you have bloodshot eyes for more than a few days. **End Summary** Topics: eye health healthy eyes double vision blepharitis eye floaters bloodshot eyes iridology styes yellow eye eyes health
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypnotherapist with clinics in London and Birmingham.
What Your Red Nose is Trying to Tell You

By paying a bit more attention to your nose it can really help you stay healthy.

Having a red nose can be extremely upsetting as it can be really difficult to hide.

Affecting both men and women equally, a really red nose can cause depression and isolation, often due to the careless comments of other people. A red nose can have a variety of causes, so it's wise to avoid generalisations.

Below, I list some of the main reasons for a red nose and what your nose may be trying to tell you.

Rosacea

This condition shows when the blood vessels in the nose are very close to the surface. People who suffer from rosacea may also get redness in other facial areas. Often found together with a form of acne, the nose can have pussing pustules when it is inflamed.

Inflammation may flare up without warning. However, it may be triggered by stress, emotions, soap allergy or because of a reaction to certain spicy foods. Treatment is generally by antibiotics - in oral and/or cream form - although some now say that laser treatment can cure it. **End Summary** Topics: nose red red nose rosacea red noses nose health healthy nose bulbous nose redness nose swollen red nose alcohol red nose
About the Author:
Peter Field is a Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and Fellow of the Royal Society of Health.
Say Goodbye to Sugar and Anxiety

Most of us are unaware of the real quantity of sugar we consume, or of the damaging effects it can have on our brain and mind.

After all, sugar is practically everywhere. Not only is it in the sugar we put consciously into our drinks and foods, it's hidden away in so many of the things we eat. It's in breakfast cereals, jams and fruit juices, sauces and soups, breads, cakes and desserts. In fact it's there in practically every ready-made, pre-prepared and convenience food you can buy.

From early childhood, many of us have become accustomed to the taste and quick fix of sugar laden drinks and foods. They were scoffed at parties, given as rewards or pacifiers, used to make us feel good and snatched as 'pick-me-ups'. In one form or another they seem to have been there all the way as we were growing up.

Of course, the sugar lobby will continue to tell us how wonderful sugar really is, how good it really is for us, and how it is present in many natural foods. In this last point they're absolutely right. **End Summary** Topics: sugar sugar addiction sugar addiction recovery sugar and depression sugar and anxiety sugar addiction symptoms sugar and mood sugar craving addiction
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist with busy clinics in London and Birmingham, UK.
Depression and Food - Conquer Depression with Food

Eat nothing but healthy foods

This is the very first and most critical step in returning to full health of mind and body.

Learning how to eat natural, vital, healthy food is a process. It's something that we have to learn to do and that means working at it. As with learning anything truly worthwhile, this does require a degree of self-discipline. This self discipline will usually only arrive when you finally realize the importance of what you are putting into your body -- and into brain.

Understand that your mind is housed in your brain and your brain is part of your body. Whatever you feed your body affects your brain - and therefore it affects your mind and your mood. After all, it is your mind that controls how you feel.

The farther away you get from quick, processed foods and the closer you get to natural, unprocessed foods the better you will feel.

Some of us have to start again from scratch, changing most of our eating habits along with most of what we put into our bodies - and consequently our minds. But be assured - it truly is worth it! **End Summary** Topics: depression help depression treatment depression remedies treating depression anxiety depression treatment depression cure
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist & the originator of AIRO Therapy.
Blushing Hypnosis - How Blushing Can Be Efffectively Treated

Everyone has experienced blushing at some time or other. It affect both men and women and it can occur at any age. Yet the strange thing is that despite its universality, no-one has ever really discovered why we blush.

We do know that blushing is a natural response which occurs spontaneously in anyone experiencing a powerful emotion such as embarrassment, anger or excitement, but we do not know why such emotions should produce this kind of flushing.

It has been theorized that perhaps blushing is a consequence of a primitive survival mechanism: sensing danger, the body is flooded with powerful chemicals such as the 'fight or flight' hormone adrenaline.

This has the effect of engorging and expanding the blood vessels, as an increased amount of blood is pumped freely through them. The blood vessels in the face, neck and chest area not only have a greater degree of vascularisation, but they are, of course, more visible.

We feel ourselves becoming hot and going red - often in the presence of others - and this embarrasses us. It is this embarrassment that so easily and automatically feeds and enhances the flushing, blushing feeling. **End Summary** Topics: blushing flushing blush blushing treatment blushing hypnosis blushing hypnotherapy hypnosis hypnotherapy
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading figure in the field of British hypno-psychotherapy, with clinics in London and Birmingham, UK.
Anaemia - Symptoms, Causes and Treatment

When we seem to feel more tired than normal, we may wonder if we could be anemic, however, how many of us have a clear understanding of what anemia actually is.

What is Anemia?

Anemia is the term given when the red blood cell count is lower than it should be. Rates vary for men and women. There are different types of anemia which can and do adversely affect various sections of the population.

Symptoms of Anemia

The following symptoms may or may not point to anemia as they can also relate to other medical conditions.

- Tiredness
- Dizziness
- Constant dry mouth
- Headaches
- Pallor
- Coldness

Please check with your doctor for an accurate diagnosis which should include a blood test.

Types of Anemia

Folate Deficiency - Megaloblastic Anemia

In order for red blood cells to grow and function properly, they need a steady supply of folic acid. This is generally obtained naturally through the eating of leafy green vegetables and a balanced diet.

When there is insufficient folic acid intake, our red blood cells can become enlarged and reduced in number. **End Summary** Topics: anemia anaemia sickle cell anemia anemia symptoms iron anemia anemia deficiency anemia iron deficiency anemia pernicious anemia treatment symptoms of
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading figure in the field of British hypno-psychotherapy, with practices in London and Birmingham, England.
What Causes Eczema? Eczema Causes and Treatment

Eczema, also known as dermatitis, is a skin condition that affects a wide variety of people. It can be caused by many things and comes in a multitude of variations.

Eczema often presents itself as scaly, flaky and cracked patches of dry skin, red itchy areas, open weeping flesh and/or little water blisters.

Sufferers may find themselves consciously or unconsciously scratching the affected area thereby making the condition worse and delaying the healing process.

Causes of Eczema

Eczema is often thought to be caused by the skin becoming irritated by something it has come into contact with.

While this theory holds true for some people, other factors that can cause eczema include hereditary disposition, allergies, poor circulation in elderly sufferers and natural bodily yeast.

Eczema may also be triggered or worsened by stress. Here good hypnotherapy - or self hypnosis recordings that teach the individual to release and handle stress - can prove truly useful.

Types of Eczema

Atopic Atopic eczema is hereditary and tends to affect children. It is mainly found in bodily areas which fold / crease such as behind the knees, however it may also show itself on the torso, neck and face. **End Summary** Topics: eczema treatment dry skin itchy skin skin problems eczema cure dry itchy skin itchy skin rash atopic eczema
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist with clinics in both Birmingham and London, England.

Being afraid of dolls, mannequins, dummies or children is known as pediophobia

While it is certainly not the most common phobia that we treat here in our hypnotherapy clinics in the UK, it is something that we do see several times a year. Many clients have been relieved to learn that not only is there a name for this disorder, but that it most certainly can be successfully and quite easily treated.

The real number of people suffering from this particular anxiety disorder is actually unknown because most have no name for it and so imagine that they are the only ones with this fear. Few people would really feel fully at ease visiting a doctor and saying: 'Well, Doctor, the truth is that I'm afraid of dolls...'

This, of course, not only serves to further alienate the person experiencing the phobia, but it also prevents them from getting the help that they need and that is available. If allowed to go untreated, this phobia can seriously affect the individual's life in some truly major and quite devastating ways.

At times, this irrational fear can reach such proportions that it seriously interferes with the person's ablility to function normally. **End Summary** Topics: pediophobia fear of children afraid of children fear of dolls fear of mannequins fear of dummies afraid of dolls hypnotherapy hypnosis fear overcoming
About the Author:
One of the foremost British hypno-psychotherapists, with clinics in Birmingham and London, UK, Peter Field is the author of numerous articles on psychotherapy, hypnosis and health.

Losing a healthy head of hair is something that can really affect a person's self esteem and self image

With men, however, it is something that is more or less accepted as a natural occurrence by society at large. In fact, about fifty percent of the general population experience normal hair loss by the time they reach 50 years old. We may not like it, but sooner or later half of us are forced to accept it.

Hair loss in women, though, is often perceived in a much different way.

Male pattern baldness is a very common occurrence which at the present time has no known permanent cure. It is something that is determined largely by genetics.

Its development can however be slowed down with the correct treatment. Read on for more information on this.

Alopecia is a form of hair loss that is a medical condition. It can occur at any age, though it generally affects females more than males.

There are several variations of alopecia:

Androgenic Alopecia

As mentioned above, this is the variation of alopecia which is commonly known as 'male pattern baldness'. Often hereditary, this condition can in fact affect both sexes. **End Summary** Topics: hair loss treatment loss hair treatment losing hair hair loss cause hair loss causes hair loss treatments treatment for hair loss losing my hair cause
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading figure in the field of British hypno-psychotherapy, with clinics in London and Birmingham, England.
Finger Nails Health - What Your Fingernails Say About Your Health

Are your fingernails embarrassing you?

Judging by the ever growing market for false acrylic nails, it would seem that many people prefer to hide their nails.

Amazingly, the condition of your fingernails can reveal a clear picture of your general physical and mental health.

Beau's lines

Horizontal indentations in the nails which travel all the way across can indicate diabetes or malnutrition amongst other things. The lines can also be the result of an accident or a previous illness where there was a high fever. Some find that the lines simply disappear as the nail grows, while others will have to wait until the nail growns out completely.

Clubbing of the fingertips and nails

Some conditions such as issues with the liver, heart, lungs or bowels can cause fingertips to grow wider and the nails to curve around them. Named 'clubbing' this condition indicates that a medical check up should be considered.

Discoloured Nails

While most people know that some yellowing of the nails can be caused by cigarette smoking (yet another reason to stop smoking), discolouring can be the result of various medical conditions such as chronic bronchitis, especially when taken in conjunction with other symptoms. **End Summary** Topics: health nails nail health healthy nails healthy nail health and nails finger nails health finger nails and health healthy finger nails
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, author of numerous articles on psychotherapy, hypnosis and health; Fellow of the Royal Society of Health & Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
Constipation Remedies - What Causes Constipation and How to Treat It

What is Constipation?

Constipation is the word we use when there is real difficulty in passing stools, especially when the stools tend to be very hard. They can appear to be small, almost like rabbit droppings, or large.

Bloating of the stomach sometimes accompanies constipation which causes the sufferer further discomfort.

A condition that the majority of people experience occasionally can turn into a major issue for those who frequently or constantly encounter it. This can be both painful and embarrassing for the sufferer.

Affecting women more than men, constipation is also common in the elderly.

Causes

Lifestyle plays a major part in causing constipation. It really is essential to eat a healthy diet and to have regular exercise. Movement and activity aids in stimulating the bowels, as does eating a sufficient amount of fibre.

Lack of liquid intake.

Half a dozen coffees and an alcoholic drink is not as beneficial as a pint or two of ordinary water. In fact, both coffee and alcohol have a dehydrating affect on the body, which in itself can aggravate or cause constipation.

Medication can also be a cause of constipation. **End Summary** Topics: constipation remedy natural constipation constipation cure constipation home remedies constipation help remedy for constipation get rid of constipatio
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist with busy clinics in London & Birmingham, England.

Thrush and candida are truly troublesome conditions which can affect both women and men alike.

Anyone who has ever experienced thrush or candida knows only too well of the discomfort and distress that this troubling condition can cause. So, what exactly is thrush, and can it really be prevented?

The medical name for thrush is candida or candidosis. Thrush is caused by an overabundance and imbalance of bacteria and natural fungal yeast found in the body. It commonly manifests around the woman's genitals although it can affect men and may also appear in the mouth.

Oral Thrush

Oral Thrush can be seen as cream colored or pale yellow spots within the mouth which can be very uncomfortable; it is often accompanied by a burning, sore sensation. If you are experiencing such symptoms, a doctor should be consulted to diagnose the condition as it can mask other more serious conditions such as mouth cancer.

New born babies can develop oral thrush from picking it up during birth when passing down the birth canal. Drinks of cool water, especially after a milk feed, help to relieve the discomfort. **End Summary** Topics: thrush candida albicans oral thrush thrush oral thrush symptoms candida infection candida symptoms candidosis thrush treatment candida treatment
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, with clinics in both Birmingham and London, England.
Arthritis - What is it and How Can it be Treated?

It's hardly surprising that so many of us will experience some type of arthritis at some time in our life since it comes in more than 200 forms.

Though generally associated with the aging process, arthritis can also show itself in the very young and at all ages in between.

In this article I describe some of its more common forms and their treatment.

Osteoarthritis

There is no specific cause of osteoarthritis, a condition that affects a large number of the population; however it is known that excessive wear and tear on the joints, especially the hips, knees, ankles , toes and hands, can be a factor in triggering the condition, as can an injury to a joint and being overweight.

It is also believed that arthritis can be hereditary. Indications are that most people carry the potential to develop arthritis, but that some lifestyles and/or physical properties within the body can deter it from occurring. Osteoarthritis is generally suspected when the sufferer experiences pain and/or stiffness in the joints and ligaments.

Tests, x-rays and scans can establish whether the cartilage between joints, which helps with smooth movement, has weakened or thinned. **End Summary** Topics: rheumatoid arthritis osteoarthritis arthritis pain joint arthritis arthritis symptoms arthritis treatment arthritis joint pain juvenile arthritis arth
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist, author of numerous articles on psychotherapy, hypnosis and health; Fellow of the Royal Society of Health & Member of the British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy.
How to End Your Fear of Stickers with Hypnosis - Pittakionophobia and its Treatment

The fear of stickers is a little recognised phobia that affects countless numbers of people all over the world.

Like all phobias, it is essentially an anxiety disorder.

Simply put, those with this particular phobia experience varying degrees of anxiety when faced with stickers or sticky labels - whether those stickers are on fruit such as apples, bananas or kiwis, on plastic items, household appliances or on clothing, it makes little difference.

This phobia can make even the most courageous person shiver with fear.

Perhaps the main reason that this particular phobia is so little acknowledged is because individuals suffering from this irrational fear have often developed a sense of abnormality or shame, wrongly believing that only they have this particular issue.

Because of this, people who are sticker phobic often feel a bit foolish and easily become reluctant to discuss it with others, so it remains hidden.

Indeed, in my clinical practice I have treated only two people for this particular phobia. Both were clients who had been successfully treated for other conditions and who mentioned, almost in passing, that they also suffered from the fear of stickers. **End Summary** Topics: treatment for fear of stickers therapy for being afraid of stickers scared of stickers hypnotherapy for phobia of stickers hypnosis for fear of sticke
About the Author:
Peter Field is one of the foremost British hypno-psychotherapists, with busy clinics in Birmingham & London, England.
Your Feet Health Secrets

We all want to be healthy, however did you know that one way of staying healthy is to examine your feet regularly and look at what they are showing you?

Cold Feet

Men's feet tend to be warmer than women's, however extremes of coldness or warmth should not be ignored. If you suffer from feet that are constantly cold, this may be due to an underactive thyroid, while hot and sweaty feet might be due to an overactive thyroid. The thyroid gland is responsible for regulating body temperature as well as tiredness, thinning eyebrows and weight gain. If you have concerns, check them out with your doctor or health advisor.

Colour changes

Feet that are pale when you are sitting with them up, but get very red when standing could be telling you that there is a circulation issue. Your heart might be having trouble in pumping the blood around your body. This could be due to many reasons - a common one is a hadening of the arteries.

Toe Nails

Stop Smoking Tips from a Psychotherapist

The most important step towards stopping smoking is for you to really want to stop. This inner desire is the main motivational force. Through it you have the power to accomplish your goal.

Read about all of the terrible consequences of continuing to smoke. Look at pictures of cancerous mouth and lung conditions. Find out what the harmful chemicals in cigarettes can do to your body. Keeping these images in mind can greatly assist you in overcoming any cravings you may have.

Sit down and make a list of all the great benefits of becoming a non-smoker. For example: How lovely to not smell like a filthy ashtray; to be released from smoker's cough; to be able to fully taste your food again; to feel healthy all over etc.

Be aware of the triggers that automatically cause you to reach for a cigarette. Is it, for instance, when you're tired or simply bored with what you're doing? If so, maybe switching to another task, taking a break, a drink of water or walking into another room could help get you over that desire. Do you automatically feel like a cigarette when watching TV in the evening? **End Summary** Topics: how to stop smoking smoking stop smoking cessation ways to stop smoking stop smoking help stop smoking hypnosis best ways to stop smoking becoming a n
About the Author:
Peter Field is a leading British hypno-psychotherapist with busy clinics in London and Birmingham, UK.
Acrophobia - Overcome Your Fear of Heights with Hypnotherapy

Acrophobia (sometimes incorrectly called vertigo) is a phobia we regularly treat here in our UK hypnotherapy clinics

Though often incorrectly referred to as 'vertigo', true acrophobia is an extreme and irrational fear of being in high places. For the person experiencing acrophobiia, though, perception is everything - a high place may simply be nothing more than a couple of rungs on a ladder, for instance.

(Vertigo is the feeling that the head is spinning or swimming which occurs when the head is not actually spinning. It can be set off by any movement - standing up or sitting down too quickly, or simply as a result of the person's visual perspective.)

True acrophobia can indeed be dangerous, since the feelings of anxiety that it produces can so easily be transformed into feelings of genuine panic when the sufferer is high up. And a person who is in the throes of panic can be in no position to get him or herself down safely.

The actual symptoms of acrophobia are very similar to other anxiety disorders. Often symptoms such as rapid breathing, shortness of breath, rapid heart rate, dry mouth and feelings of nausea are experienced by the acrophobic individual. **End Summary** Topics: acrophobia scared of heights fear of heights afraid of heights overcome fear of heights acrophobia treatment acrophobia cure hypnotherapy hypnosis
About the Author:
One of the foremost British hypno-psychotherapists, with busy practices in Birmingham and London, England, Peter Field is the author of numerous articles on psychotherapy, hypnosis and health.
