Cold air intake - helps the heart of the engine

There are many components that make up your car's engine. Just looking at it bristling with moving parts, belts, tubing, pistons and fan gives us a sense of a highly complex piece of machinery that only those who specialize in it can understand. And yet many of us know of the hard work a car's engine puts in and want to find out how we can make life easier for it. And there are several such products available from the car aftermarket products industry. These products are not very expensive and do give an improvement in the engine and the car's performance. This is why they are very popular amongst car enthusiasts.

One such product is a cold air intake. And as the title says it makes a difference at the very heart of the car's engine. Now you may wonder what I mean by the heart of car's engine. By that I mean the place where the big event happens. And that is combustion of fuel which converts chemical energy into mechanical energy. As you can imagine there is great violence happening here. Inflammable fuel is being burnt which produces a small explosion. **End Summary** Topics: Cold Air Intakes Cold Air Intake Air Intakes Air Intake
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Car spoiler - let the force be with you

When we talk about a boat or a ship we will know it needs to be streamlined because it needs to cut through water. And water is quite heavy, so if the flow past the boat is not managed efficiently the boat will find it very difficult to cut through water. We also talk of a car's need to be streamlined but do not think air is all that heavy and a little favorable profile we feel is sufficient to cut quickly through air.

But air is not as light as one thinks. And it can produce very large forces just as we know water can. And that is not just when it is blowing at hurricane speeds. If you are sitting in a room of five meter by five meter square and four meters in height there is more than hundred kilogram of air in the room at normal temperature. That is the weight of a small motorcycle. And you can imagine the huge forces that air can generate as your car moves through it at a high speed. And once you have done that you will want to be able to take advantage of such forces. **End Summary** Topics: Car Spoilers Car Spoiler Body Kits Body Kit Lowering Kit
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Ilovebodykits.com - know your car better

For most of us our car is a safe, fast and comfortable way to get from one place to another. Even when we are buying it we do check out some facts about it which we feel are key and also take it for a trial but we do not really get to know it. Which is fine, because if we are satisfied with a product we do not really need to know how it is made and why it works.

But even after we are quite satisfied with our car many of us want to spend some more money on it. This can be to improve the looks or its performance or just to customize it in some way. And for this we need to know our car a little better than we cared to know when we bought it. The reason is that there is a wide range of products out there and unless we make an informed choice we may not be getting the best value for our money as perceived buy ourselves.

So how do you go about informing yourself better about your car. You can hardly joining a university course in automobile engineering. **End Summary** Topics: Body Kits Body Kit Exhaust Header Exhaust Headers Performance Exhaust Cold Air Intakes Cold Air Intake
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Cold air intake - brings in cool air and saves fuel

The first internal combustion engine was made in 1806; and the first liquid fuelled gasoline automobile was made in 1870. But that automobile was more for demonstration and not suitable for practical use. Practical automobiles were made by Karl Benz in 1885 and Daimler in 1889. Later on Ford and others took up their commercial production with great success. Since then there have been many upgrades and modifications in the automobiles, but one element in its functioning has remained the same. As it was in the earlier years; even now power is generated when the mix of fuel and air is ignited in the engine. Fuel and air are both necessary for combustion. If there is inadequate supply of air the fuel would not be fully utilized and the output of power will be less than what the engine is supposed to generate. The cold air intake brings in the cool atmospheric air into the engine. The cool air is advantageous because it is denser than the hot air. The air in the engine becomes hot and lighter. Dense air means there is more of air in the engine. **End Summary** Topics: Cold Air Intakes Cold Air Intake Air Intakes Air Intake
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Strut bar - manage extremes better

There are some products that we need only when things are at an extreme. But at that time then we do need them a lot. An extreme example of an extreme need is a fire extinguisher. For years it would lie around doing nothing, but the one time it is needed you are very grateful it was lying handy. There are other products that you do not need so often but when you do you are very glad you have them. And though you do not need them all the while you certainly do need them more often than you would a fire extinguisher.

Take for example driving on a road in the mountains that twists its away up and down in the hills and valleys. This is very different from cruising along in a straight line on a highway. And though most good cars will be quite fine cruising along in a straight line on the highway many of these will not be quite as much fun to drive on twisting and turning roads in the mountains.

The reason is that the road in the mountains requires you to turn the car often with pretty good accuracy. **End Summary** Topics: Strut Bars Strut Bar Lowering Springs Lowering Spring Bo
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for over 7 years.
Brake rotors - cannot work without friction

If a vehicle does not immediately stop when you want it to stop, it may sometimes cause a mishap. To avoid such a possibility you have to check your brakes from time to time to ascertain that they are functioning properly. Braking system has a few components and all of them have to be in a perfect condition for the system to function efficiently. Brake rotors are an important part of the braking system. When the driver presses the brake pedals his command is carried by the braking system causing the brake pads to press upon the brake rotors. The friction between the brake pads and the brake rotors stops the vehicle. Day to day use reduces the friction between the two which will adversely affect the performance of the brakes. Sometimes they may also get damaged, in either case you have to replace the brake rotors. Different types of brake rotors are available in the market. There are drilled brake rotors or slotted brake rotors. Friction between the brake pads and brake rotors also generates heat which reduces the stopping action of the brakes. In the drilled brake rotors and slotted brake rotors the heat is dispersed. **End Summary** Topics: Brake Rotors Brake Rotor Racing Seats Racing Seat Slotte
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Short shifter - for a sporty look and performance

A sportsperson does not have to look like a Hollywood star to look great. Usually their athletic bodies have excellent proportions suited to their sport and over and above that the way a quality sportsperson can perform, the performance is so breath taking that the looks themselves look awe inspiring as well. I do not know how successful Federer would have been had he been just a movie star, but the greatest of movie stars will find it tough to rival his looks when he is playing dream class tennis on the court.

So when a product gives a sporty look to your car it helps a lot if the looks have depth and the product also helps makes the car's performance more sporty. And this is true for a short shifter. A short shifter does not have a huge impact on the looks of the interiors of your car. But for the informed eye of a genuine car enthusiast its quiet presence is enough. The person will immediately know that your car means business as it goes up and down through the gears.

Short shifters make driving less stressful by reducing the time it takes to change gears. **End Summary** Topics: Short Shifters Short Shifter Steering Wheel
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Headlights - have benefited by adopting new innovations

The cars have come a long way since they were first introduced. Many technological innovations and development of new materials have contributed to the appearance of high performance and better looking cars in the market. All the parts of a car have received the attention of their designers and makers. Even a simple part like headlights has benefited from these developments. Cars now move much faster than they did earlier, so they need brighter headlights. Brighter sources of light like halogen lights, or LED lights, or HID (High Intensity Discharge) lights are therefore now used in headlights. They illuminate a longer stretch of road which allows the driver more time to make necessary adjustments. It is not enough that the light is bright; its beam should be cast in the right direction. There are reflectors and lenses in the headlights assembly which can be manipulated by the driver to cast the beam of light in the right areas. The headlights are so located that they do not blind the drivers of the oncoming vehicle and dimmers are also used for the same purpose. **End Summary** Topics: Headlights Headlight Coilover Coilovers Tail Lights Tai
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Lowering springs - make ride comfortable for passengers as also the driver

Automobile aftermarket products manufacturing industry has become an important industry parallel to the main automobile manufacturing industry. There are various types of aftermarket products aimed to enhance the performance of the vehicle, to improve its looks, or to make it safer. Some are designed to improve the efficiency of the engine while some others are aimed to benefit the suspension system. Lowering springs are meant to improve the handling of the car. When you replace the usual stock springs that you get with the car by the lowering springs you lower the center of gravity of the vehicle as a whole. That makes the vehicle more stable and its handling becomes easier. The undesirable body roll is also reduced. It is of great help when you are cornering or taking sharp turns. That makes the drive more comfortable for the passengers as well as the driver. Since the body of the car comes closer to the ground the car also looks elegant.

A vehicle’s ability to move is not of much use unless it can move in the right direction desired by the driver. **End Summary** Topics: Lower Springs Lowering Spring Lowering Springs Steering W
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.

It is not that we are not satisfied with what we have. It is just that if things can be better we would like to have it that way. And that is the reason why we spend a lot of money each year to improve the quality of our life, even though we still reminisce about how wonderful life was years ago. That is not to say we are stupid about wanting things to be better, it is rather to say that we are smart enough to know that though this is good, but it can be better.

And so also it is with our automobile. We love our car and it takes around the city and beyond each day and yet even as we drive it we look at other cars and in our mind start to plan about having a better car. So where does this better car lie? Is in our imagination alone, awaiting the time when we will describe it to a manufacturer who would then hopefully get convinced it really is a great car and go ahead and manufacture it? **End Summary** Topics: Body Kits Body Kit Car Spoilers Car Spoiler
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Cat back exhaust - has a positive effect on the vehicle

One takes steps to get what is wanted and at the same time one has to get rid off what is unwanted. This general observation holds true for the functioning of an automobile as well. Fuel and air are wanted for combustion in the engine to generate power and hence there is provision for them to flow in the engine. The resultant gases of the combustion are unwanted and have to be rid off and quicker the better as they exert back pressure on the engine which is harmful for the combustion process. The cat back exhaust system helps to get rid of these gases quickly by allowing a passage where they can freely flow. This also reduces the back pressure exerted by these gases. The cat back exhaust is a sort of funnel located between the catalytic converter and the muffler. The spent gases have some highly toxic components; the catalytic converter renders them less harmful before being released in the atmosphere. The muffler reduces the noise generated by the escaping gases. The cat back exhaust improves the efficiency of the engine which results in better fuel economy. This has a positive effect on the vehicle as a whole. **End Summary** Topics: Cat Back Exhausts Vertical Doors Cat Back Exhaust System
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Fog lights - install them to have better visibility in bad weather

If you do not have fog lights in your car and you have not faced any trouble on that account you may be one of the lucky persons. Thick fogs or snow are rarer in some regions and more frequent in others. If you do not have real bad weather in your area you may be required to travel to areas where it may be common. Prudence demands that you should be prepared for such contingencies. Fog light kits with wires and switches are available in the market and it is not difficult to install them. These lights are mounted just below the headlights. Their beam is directed at a lower level so that they do not disturb the drivers of the vehicles coming from the opposite side. Some newer sources of light like halogen lights, LED lights, or HID lights are also now used in fog lights. These lights are very bright and can cover a longer stretch of road. Fog lights are generally yellow but when newer sources of light are used they have a purplish hue. **End Summary** Topics: Fog Lights Fog Light Carbon Fiber Hoods Carbon Fiber Hood
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Billet grilles are noticed wherever you go

Wherever a vehicle goes its billet grilles are always noticed. It is their location at the front end of a vehicle that makes them so visible. The vehicle owners therefore often use them to impart a customized look to their vehicles. To meet the demand of customers the designers of billet grilles create a number of innovative and attractive designs for them. They are simple parts not requiring complicated engineering so they do not cost much but are always made of strong and durable materials. They are usually made of aluminum, or stainless steel, or ABS plastic. Aluminum is a light material that can be easily shaped in many designs. Stainless steel billet grilles are very strong. ABS plastic grilles are comparatively cheaper, and though not as strong as stainless steel grilles but are strong enough for their purpose. Grilles made of all these materials are corrosion and rust resistant. There are Bolt Over Grilles which can be easily mounted over the existing grille. The other type of grille is the Replacement Grille which can be installed after removing the existing grille but here too installing them is not difficult. **End Summary** Topics: Billet Grilles Billet Grille Racing Seats Racing Seat Fog Lights Fog Light Body Kits Body Kit
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
LED headlights - nights will never be the same

LED headlights are now available for a wide range of cars. Though the LED technology has been around for decades, headlights has been a difficult application for them to master. The reason for that is simple. Headlights have to be very bright and be reliably so because they are a critical safety component at night. We are familiar of course with LEDs having seen small ones in electronic products for quite some time now. Even LED tail lights have been around for a while now. And when we see the bright ones used in today's headlights it is remarkable how much brighter these LEDs have become.

Of course you may be wondering why there should be so much of a problem making LEDs brighter. In the incandescent bulbs a longer and brighter filament is enough to make the bulb shine more brightly. In the case of LEDs though the problem is of heat dissipation. When you touch a bulb it is hot and when you touch an LED it is cold. So you may think LEDs and LED headlights do not generate heat. But they do. **End Summary** Topics: LED Headlights LED Headlight LED Tail Lights
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Exhaust headers - for better efficiency

In today's world efficiency is no longer optional it is usually a must have. And when it comes to your automobile the situation is no different. Being inefficient is a waste of resources that one cannot afford for several reasons. First it is the extra amount of money we need to earn to fund the wastage. Come to think of it as we are working and we realize that all this effort is only going to pay for a needless waste, we may stop working long enough to stop the wastage and only then get back to working again.

And yet we do accept avoidable wastage often in our lives. Sometimes the reason is that we are simply not aware of the wastage. Take for example your car's engine. It generates power by burning fuel. This power is used to drive your car. Well not quite all of it. Some power is used to drive the engine itself. Like the power used to push out the exhaust gases so that the next fuel burning cycle can take place. To the extent this power is necessary it is not a waste. **End Summary** Topics: Exhaust Header Cold Air Intake Cold Air Intakes Cat Back
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.

A star's light is such a dim light that one cannot see it by day. And yet at night they look scintillating and are an inspirational sites as many poems and songs will prove. Which is a measure of effective a small night can be when at night it can show its magic. For a light at night to captivate ones imagination it need not be big and bright, it can be small and not so bright and yet it can add a lot of color and style to the visuals at night. And that is the appeal of the latest bumper lights which have revived the product as being a key part of the style planning of a car.

A car has different components extolling its classy looks by night as compared to by day. During day time a lot of the car can be seen and many components are able to contribute to the overall great look of a car. By night though much of the car is not visible. Even its lines are visible only if there is some light to create a silhouette. **End Summary** Topics: Bumper lights Bumper light LED tail lights LED headlight
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
When you have an important call to make and the phone at the other end is ringing you may get a little impatient and wish that the phone would be answered quickly. You have an important message to communicate and the sooner it is conveyed the better it is. Of course for a message the few extra seconds that it takes the person at the other end to respond may not be critical but in general one can expect that when important work is to be got done a quick response is essential.

When one is driving ones car, we may not realize it, but we make important choices and need to act on them urgently all the while. We do not realize it in our day to day driving because driving has become second nature to us and we are quite good at driving. But when we drive a car that responds better we will immediately be able to recognize the fact how much easier it is to drive. **End Summary** Topics: Lowering Spring Lowering Springs Strut Bar Strut Bars Lo
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Carbon fiber hood - blend high technology with high style

A jet aircraft has to be as light as it can be. There is no reason good enough to add additional weight to the aircraft other than ones directly related to its ability to perform all its functions efficiently and safely. To put it simply, though in a car you will often find decorative elements that add weight to it, in an aircraft you will not. And yet if you ask someone if an aircraft looks stylish the person will most likely answer that yes the jet looks very sleek and stylish. And the reason for that is that visually high performance is exuded by the components that deliver it and there is no need for additional style elements. In general a product that is engineered to deliver an exceptional performance, will often look like that without making a special effort to look attractive.

And carbon fiber products that have become a part of the automobile industry arrived for their technological benefits but have stayed on in a large measure due to the huge amount of style that they exude. A carbon fiber hood is installed to reduce the weight of the car. **End Summary** Topics: Carbon Fiber Hoods Carbon Fiber Hood Carbon Fiber Trunks
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Cold air intake - a popular choice for improving performance

An automobile moves because of the power generated by the engine. Power is generated by the combustion of the mixture of fuel and air. If the air is not supplied in adequate quantity the fuel would not be completely utilized and the engine will generate less power than what it is supposed to generate. There are already devices for supply of air in a vehicle, but these are kept smaller ones on considerations of design and are therefore somewhat restrictive. If you want to improve the performance of the engine you can install a cold air intake. It brings in plentiful cold atmospheric air into the engine. Cold air is beneficial because it is denser than the hot air. Air inside the engine becomes hot and light due to combustion. Cold air would mean more of air by weight inside the engine. The combustion will be complete and no part of fuel would be wasted. You will get more power for the same quantity of fuel and you can thus economize on running expenses.

If you improve the performance of your car by installing a cold air intake, you can also take steps to improve its looks. **End Summary** Topics: Cold Air Intakes Cold Air Intake Tail Lights Tail Light
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Brake kits - for upgrading braking system

Since their inception there have been constant improvements in all types of vehicles including cars. They are now more reliable, safer, and move faster. You would have acquired your car after assessing its performance, safety features etc. and satisfying yourself on all these counts but your responsibility would not end with that. You would have to periodically check its parts, set right any deficiency, and maintain it properly. You would have to be particularly careful where parts involving safety are concerned. Brakes are one such important part. Effective functioning of brakes is crucial for safe driving. On them depends not only your and your vehicle’s safety but also of those who are nearby you on the road. When the driver presses the brake pedals to stop the vehicle his message is conveyed to the wheels by the braking system. Each part of the system has to be in a perfect condition for efficient functioning of the brakes. If any part is not functioning properly it has to be set right or replaced. Brake kits are there in the market to be of help in such a contingency. **End Summary** Topics: Brake Kits Brake Kit Steering Wheel Steering Wheels Fog
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Vertical doors - more than just stylish

The doors of the car have a few key functions to perform. One is when a person wants to enter a car the door should open in such a manner that it should provide easy and wide mouth access so that the person can climb into the seat easily. The wider the door opens the simpler it is for the person entering the car to maneuver on to a seat. Once the person is inside though the door needs to lock shut securely and there is usually a further latch which makes it doubly secure. While the car is moving the door should be as flush as possible with the rest of the car so that the aerodynamics are not adversely affected.

When the car stops at the end of the ride the door should open easily and smoothly and again provide a roomy exit out of the car. For the average individual a lot of room is not required but for some of us who are a little large a car is a small place and getting in and out can take some effort if the doors do not open wide enough. **End Summary** Topics: Vertical Doors Vertical Door Body Kits Body Kit
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Carbon fiber hood – for a lighter and better controlled vehicle

Aftermarket products manufacturing industry is a thriving industry aligned to the main automobile manufacturing industry. The automobile industry mass produces vehicles after taking into consideration demands and requirements of the majority of customers; while the aftermarket products industry is capable of meeting the individual demands of customers. Sometimes the development of new materials also prompts aftermarket products industry to take advantage of that and employ them in making parts that can improve the performance of a vehicle. Carbon fiber has been developed as a synthetic material which is light yet strong and durable. It is now also used in making hoods of vehicles. Hoods are meant to prevent rain drops or other outside materials from falling on the engine and the other machinery in its proximity. Normally hoods are made of metal but a hood made of carbon fiber is much lighter but durable. It reduces the overall weight of the vehicle. A lighter vehicle will need lesser power for driving it, so by using a carbon fiber hood you can save on fuel. **End Summary** Topics: Carbon Fiber Hoods Carbon Fiber Hood Vertical Doors
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
Coilover – makes ride more comfortable by moderating shocks

When a vehicle moves on an uneven road it experiences shocks. These shocks are uncomfortable for passengers and can also damage some parts of the vehicle. There are devices that minimize the effect of the shocks. There is shock absorber which as the name itself suggests absorbs the shocks and limits the up and down movement of the vehicle. It is a cylinder with a piston inside and oil at one end. The piston moves when the vehicle goes over a bump and the oil provides the damping action. In some vehicles coil springs are used for the same purpose, but they do it by spring action instead of the damping action. Coil over is a suspension device that combines the shock absorber and coil spring in one unit. In this unit the coil spring surrounds the shock absorber. One end of the coil over is mounted to the axle or suspension and the other to the chassis. In some coilovers there is provision for adjusting the ride height and the stiffness. Coilovers are now quite popular as an aftermarket product. **End Summary** Topics: Coilovers Coilover Brake Rotors Brake Rotor Racing Seat
About the Author:
Louie Liu has been in the car aftermarket products industry for 7 years.
