âA Bloody Mary, Pleaseâ I say to the flight attendant as I gaze out the side of the plane with my glossy eyes. Iâm not a big fan of drinking on a plane, but after spending the last 4 days in Las Vegas, I touched on a lot of things that I wouldnât normally do. I imagine that is what is expected in a place that affectionately calls itself âSin Cityâ. Thinking back to my touchdown at McCarran International airport, I remember how edgy I was. Not the type of edginess that I sometimes feel while waiting in the dentistâs waiting room; but rather that âwaking-up-on-Christmas-morningâ edginess. I grabbed my carry on luggage and stood in a long line of business travelers and tried not to let my over zealous feelings get the best of me. After we collected our luggage from the turnstiles, we headed outside and hailed our first cab in Las Vegas! We climbed into the cab and was taken on a 20 or so minute ride through the neon signs of beautiful Las Vegas.** End Summary**

A Self Described Homebody Travels to Las Vegas

I was looking for some travel ideas when I came across a deal going to Las Vegas from Miami and staying at the Stratosphere Hotel. DonÃ¢â¬â¢t know much about this hotel, other then what is written in the caption. The Travel Channel, if memory serves me correctly, did a story on this hotel; but IÃ¢â¬â¢m not positive how I felt about it one way or another. I havenÃ¢â¬â¢t been in Vegas since I was 13 years old; so most would say that I have never been there. I do enjoy gambling and the occasional show that my wife more then likely would drag me too, but really, other then that what is there to do in Vegas? I secretly thought that when they came up with the whole slogan; Ã¢â¬Åwhat happens in Vegas, stays in VegasÃ¢â¬Â was meant, in some part to me. IÃ¢â¬â¢m so boring that upon my arrival I would have to use that discrete slogan rather then tell them that I simply hung out in my hotel room watching television. I am, without question, one of the biggest home bodies that I have ever met. I blame this on my parents;** End Summary**

My Top Five Small Cities to Visit

For me, traveling consists of really 3 things: (1) destination (2) how to get there (3) what to do when I get to said place. Of course, there are other factors to consider, but for the most part, it really only comes down to these few things. When faced with these questions, I have always had a knee jerk reaction to pick the more Ã¢â¬ËknownÃ¢â¬â¢ places. Whether it be Orlando, Las Vegas, Boston these places have held their weight when it comes to tourist welcoming spots. We all know that we are going to find loads of things to do in these places without really too much effort. Below is a list of places that I thought might take a little bit more imagination but are equally as enjoyableÃ¢â¬Â¦and educational. West Monroe, Louisiana. I know, only show in town is in New Orleans, but if youÃ¢â¬â¢re tired of all the crowds pushing their way into the next bar on Bourbon street, this might be a nice change. Situated on the Ouachita River, West Monroe boasts a population of just fewer than 14,000, but this small town has a big town feel.** End Summary**

Some Caribbean Islands to Consider

If when you hear the word Ã¢â¬ËvacationÃ¢â¬â¢ it transcends you into an island paradise when the salty air sticks to your skin and the green waters meet the miles of white sandy shorelines, then visiting the islands of the Caribbean are the answer. Although knowing you want a Caribbean vacation is quite easy; picking the right one among these hundreds of coastal getaways might be a little harder then merely boarding a plane. You know you want plenty of sunshine, tropical weather and as water and beach as far as the eye can see. I have been to a few wonderful islands and I thought that I would share with you some of my favorites in no particular order: Jamaica. Everyone has, at one point or another, been beckoned to experience this island oasis and with good reason. Look at the Food Network and the majority of their shows during these long breaks from work talk about getting out there and grilling. The Luck o' The Irish Might be More Then a Phrase

As I was finishing up the remaining Corned Beef Hash and green beer left over from another St. PaddyÃ¢â¬â¢s Day, I started thinking about other oddities that people do to celebrate the Patron Saint of IrelandÃ¢â¬â¢s day. The Chicago River is dyed green on this day; which leads me to conclude that if they can paint it green for one day, why not paint it blue for 364 of the other days? But with all that goes on during the celebration on March 17; I thought it would be nice to pay homage to the place where it all started, Ireland. Limerick is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Located on the River Shannon, and in 2006, 90,778 folks called Limerick City and the immediate urban area home. The history of this city is full and dates back all the way to 812. The city was redesigned by the Normans in the 12th century and most of the notable architecture was present King JohnÃ¢â¬â¢s Castle and St. MaryÃ¢â¬â¢s Cathedral are two structures that represent this style. A Gem in a Little Known Place Called Crested Butte!

I have never been too fascinated with the tabloids. Sure, like most people, the act of picking up one of these Ã¢â¬Ëyellow journalisticÃ¢â¬â¢ publications is much better then waiting for the person in front of you at the check-out line in the grocery store who has to make sure that they have all their coupons, is fun. When such a moment occurs, vacation spots is what I would say is whatÃ¢â¬â¢s most appealing to me. I like to see where the next starlet is going to spend their vacation. In one such instance, I remember reading about a place called Crested Butte. Located in Gunnison County, Colorado, this little known spot has been a outdoor adventure haven for those who knew about itÃ¢â¬Â¦and that wasnÃ¢â¬â¢t too many people. The population of this place, according to the 2000 census, was only 1,529 people. Chances are you may have never thought of this destination for winter/summer activities and vacations, that may have been because there was very little air service there.** End Summary**

A Journey to Moscow & Red Square

Seldom there is a time when a particular destination grabs my attention and makes me sit up and take notice. A subtle mixture of the past meeting the present; while displaying it in a way that captures both the thrill and the suspense of what is awaiting you around the each and every corner. My latest journey took me to Moscow; and although I did, subconsciously, relive the negative feelings that everyone in the US felt about the country back in the late 70Ã¢â¬â¢s and 80Ã¢â¬â¢s (I am old enough to remember, although young enough to make it to any meaningful sense of it) I was elated for the opportunity to explore and soak in the culture of both the people and the country as a whole. Moscow the capital and the largest city of the Russian Federation, is a city in which one comes face to face with all that is great and frustrating in Russia. The generous people of the city are as evident as the extreme tension of a city coming to terms with the un-assuredness of social change. Lets begin with eliminating the stereotype that Jamaica is a dangerous place to vacation. Skiing is Just Better in Colorado!

Skiing was not something that I did a lot of growing up in the big city. Not too many mountains lined the horizon outside my back porch, or front porch for that matter.
