Seldom, in my own experiences, has there been certain types of business that do what they say they will do. I don’t necessarily mind paying a price tag that seems a little inflated, if the service warrants it. I believe that a company based in Weston, Florida rises to that challenge…which isn’t a challenge at all really, but a service that is both carefully matriculated and handsomely done. Through a company called Bizzability, I came across a hair salon that does so much more then the usual hair wash and cut. I’m admittedly not an expert on either one, as my wife tends to pick up the hair products for both of us (hers a name brand Paul something or other, and me the sale item at the local supermarket). But, being as how I was attending my brother’s wedding I wanted to experience something a little pampering…and why not? A place called HairVenture is what I found. Tips to Consider on Your Next Cruise

In no way am I an expert on cruises. I have taken my fare share of them, and I do enjoy the variety that this type of travel allows you. The calming of the water is another feature that I enjoy; and with the exception of one night on one cruise ship, I have never found myself experiencing any ‘reversal of fortune’; but, when you have thousands of people trying to enjoy their vacation at the same time, it does get a little bit too cluster phobic. Here are some ways to enjoy your cruise vacation: Expect things are not going to be perfect. This means that you wait in line when you exit and re-board the ship - as well as the the elevators and you will have a group in front of you in the buffet line - but I must admit that I’m one of those people that really laugh when people complain that every little thing of theirs is getting scanned and checked when they board the ship. “A Bloody Mary, Please” I say to the flight attendant as I gaze out the side of the plane with my glossy eyes. I’m not a big fan of drinking on a plane, but after spending the last 4 days in Las Vegas, I touched on a lot of things that I wouldn’t normally do. I imagine that is what is expected in a place that affectionately calls itself ‘Sin City’. Thinking back to my touchdown at McCarran International airport, I remember how edgy I was. Not the type of edginess that I sometimes feel while waiting in the dentist’s waiting room; but rather that ‘waking-up-on-Christmas-morning’ edginess. I grabbed my carry on luggage and stood in a long line of business travelers and tried not to let my over zealous feelings get the best of me. After we collected our luggage from the turnstiles, we headed outside and hailed our first cab in Las Vegas! A Self Described Homebody Travels to Las Vegas

I was looking for some travel ideas when I came across a deal going to Las Vegas from Miami and staying at the Stratosphere Hotel. Donâ€™t know much about this hotel, other then what is written in the caption. The Travel Channel, if memory serves me correctly, did a story on this hotel; but Iâ€™m not positive how I felt about it one way or another. I havenâ€™t been in Vegas since I was 13 years old; so most would say that I have never been there. I do enjoy gambling and the occasional show that my wife more then likely would drag me too, but really, other then that what is there to do in Vegas? I secretly thought that when they came up with the whole slogan; â€œwhat happens in Vegas, stays in Vegasâ€ was meant, in some part to me. Iâ€™m so boring that upon my arrival I would have to use that discrete slogan rather then tell them that I simply hung out in my hotel room watching television. I am, without question, one of the biggest home bodies that I have ever met. While traveling to big cities is typically what people do when visiting a new part of the world, nothing can prepare you for what is found once you turn that corner off the main road. I haven't done too much adventure seeking outside of the US, but this country has loads of places that are just waiting to be seen. I have compiled another 3 places that, at first glance perhaps, might not seem like much; but after talking to its people and seeing some amazing countryside, you'll be glad that you went. Burlington, Iowa. I went there for a wedding for three days, and prior to my arrival I thought it was going to feel like a full year. If you have never seen rolling hills and green pastures, then this place is eye popping. This was my first adventure into the state of Iowa and with the exception of a lot of corn and the makeshift baseball field in the movie Field of Dreams, I didn't know too much else about it. My Top Five Small Cities to Visit

For me, traveling consists of really 3 things: (1) destination (2) how to get there (3) what to do when I get to said place. Of course, there are other factors to consider, but for the most part, it really only comes down to these few things. When faced with these questions, I have always had a knee jerk reaction to pick the more â€˜knownâ€™ places. Whether it be Orlando, Las Vegas, Boston these places have held their weight when it comes to tourist welcoming spots. We all know that we are going to find loads of things to do in these places without really too much effort. Below is a list of places that I thought might take a little bit more imagination but are equally as enjoyableâ€¦and educational. West Monroe, Louisiana. I know, only show in town is in New Orleans, but if youâ€™re tired of all the crowds pushing their way into the next bar on Bourbon street, this might be a nice change. Some Caribbean Islands to Consider

If when you hear the word â€˜vacationâ€™ it transcends you into an island paradise when the salty air sticks to your skin and the green waters meet the miles of white sandy shorelines, then visiting the islands of the Caribbean are the answer. Although knowing you want a Caribbean vacation is quite easy; picking the right one among these hundreds of coastal getaways might be a little harder then merely boarding a plane. You know you want plenty of sunshine, tropical weather and as water and beach as far as the eye can see. I have been to a few wonderful islands and I thought that I would share with you some of my favorites in no particular order: Jamaica. The Luck o' The Irish Might be More Then a Phrase

As I was finishing up the remaining Corned Beef Hash and green beer left over from another St. Paddyâ€™s Day, I started thinking about other oddities that people do to celebrate the Patron Saint of Irelandâ€™s day. The Chicago River is dyed green on this day; which leads me to conclude that if they can paint it green for one day, why not paint it blue for 364 of the other days? But with all that goes on during the celebration on March 17; I thought it would be nice to pay homage to the place where it all started, Ireland. Limerick is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Located on the River Shannon, and in 2006, 90,778 folks called Limerick City and the immediate urban area home. The history of this city is full and dates back all the way to 812. The city was redesigned by the Normans in the 12th century and most of the notable architecture was present King Johnâ€™s Castle and St. Maryâ€™s Cathedral are two structures that represent this style. A Gem in a Little Known Place Called Crested Butte!

I have never been too fascinated with the tabloids. Sure, like most people, the act of picking up one of these â€˜yellow journalisticâ€™ publications is much better then waiting for the person in front of you at the check-out line in the grocery store who has to make sure that they have all their coupons, is fun. Located in Gunnison County, Colorado, this little known spot has been a outdoor adventure haven for those who knew about itâ€¦and that wasnâ€™t too many people. The population of this place, according to the 2000 census, was only 1,529 people. A Journey to Moscow & Red Square

Seldom there is a time when a particular destination grabs my attention and makes me sit up and take notice. A subtle mixture of the past meeting the present; while displaying it in a way that captures both the thrill and the suspense of what is awaiting you around the each and every corner. My latest journey took me to Moscow; and although I did, subconsciously, relive the negative feelings that everyone in the US felt about the country back in the late 70â€™s and 80â€™s (I am old enough to remember, although young enough to make it to any meaningful sense of it) I was elated for the opportunity to explore and soak in the culture of both the people and the country as a whole. Moscow the capital and the largest city of the Russian Federation, is a city in which one comes face to face with all that is great and frustrating in Russia. Lets begin with eliminating the stereotype that Jamaica is a dangerous place to vacation. I have been going there for 10+ years and this jewel of the Caribbean is able to blend modern comforts with natureâ€'s beauty. Skiing is Just Better in Colorado!

Skiing was not something that I did a lot of growing up in the big city. Not too many mountains lined the horizon outside my back porch, or front porch for that matter. Our skiing experienced was usually limited too a few small mountains in upstate New Hampshire, or if we really wanted a treat, we would make the two plus hour drive to Maine or better yet Vermont. I began flirting with the idea to try my hand at skiing out west about two years ago, when a childhood friend went out there for business and was amazed to find a different kind of experience. The snow seemed more ‘whiter’ as he put it and much more fluffy (yes, our skiing vernacular could turn heads!) The area of Colorado that he traveled too was Crested Butte, right along the East River Valley; in the county of Gunnison. Heralded as “the last great Colorado ski town”, Crested Butte has more then just skiing, or snowboarding depending on the age you are.
