Make Your New Years Resolution to Travel More

Remember the classic Seinfeld episode that dealt with the holidays and how stress filled they really are? Frank Costanza had it all figured out; “…there has to be a better way”. And although the vast majority of us do not celebrate ‘festivous’ we do welcome the stress for the few weeks at the end of the calendar year.

Vacationing is one of the best stress relievers that I know about. It may not seem as fun as having the feats of strength that George had to deal with during the tv show, but it will get you back to a more sound place in mind, body and spirit. If you’re not really sure where to go, consider the following destinations:

Paris. What can you say about the ‘La Ville-Lumière’-which translates literally, to “The Light City”? It’s true, if there are questions that are bothering you’re soul, this very well could be the place to find the answers. The first time that I went to Paris, albeit kicking and screaming, it touched my heart; as it does most romantics.** End Summary**
About the Author:
If you have a favorite spot, let me know about it.
Las Vegas: Looking in My Rear View Mirror

“A Bloody Mary, Please” I say to the flight attendant as I gaze out the side of the plane with my glossy eyes. I’m not a big fan of drinking on a plane, but after spending the last 4 days in Las Vegas, I touched on a lot of things that I wouldn’t normally do. I imagine that is what is expected in a place that affectionately calls itself ‘Sin City’.

Thinking back to my touchdown at McCarran International airport, I remember how edgy I was. Not the type of edginess that I sometimes feel while waiting in the dentist’s waiting room; but rather that ‘waking-up-on-Christmas-morning’ edginess. I grabbed my carry on luggage and stood in a long line of business travelers and tried not to let my over zealous feelings get the best of me.

After we collected our luggage from the turnstiles, we headed outside and hailed our first cab in Las Vegas! We climbed into the cab and was taken on a 20 or so minute ride through the neon signs of beautiful Las Vegas.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Looking for your flight to Vegas?
A Self Described Homebody Travels to Las Vegas

I was looking for some travel ideas when I came across a deal going to Las Vegas from Miami and staying at the Stratosphere Hotel. Don’t know much about this hotel, other then what is written in the caption. The Travel Channel, if memory serves me correctly, did a story on this hotel; but I’m not positive how I felt about it one way or another. I haven’t been in Vegas since I was 13 years old; so most would say that I have never been there.

I do enjoy gambling and the occasional show that my wife more then likely would drag me too, but really, other then that what is there to do in Vegas? I secretly thought that when they came up with the whole slogan; “what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas” was meant, in some part to me. I’m so boring that upon my arrival I would have to use that discrete slogan rather then tell them that I simply hung out in my hotel room watching television.

I am, without question, one of the biggest home bodies that I have ever met. I blame this on my parents;** End Summary**
About the Author:
If you want to plan your trip to the bright lights of Las Vegas, and even maybe catch one of their fabulous shows, click here and select the perfect package.

My Top Five Small Cities to Visit

For me, traveling consists of really 3 things: (1) destination (2) how to get there (3) what to do when I get to said place. Of course, there are other factors to consider, but for the most part, it really only comes down to these few things. When faced with these questions, I have always had a knee jerk reaction to pick the more ‘known’ places. Whether it be Orlando, Las Vegas, Boston these places have held their weight when it comes to tourist welcoming spots. We all know that we are going to find loads of things to do in these places without really too much effort. Below is a list of places that I thought might take a little bit more imagination but are equally as enjoyable…and educational.

West Monroe, Louisiana. I know, only show in town is in New Orleans, but if you’re tired of all the crowds pushing their way into the next bar on Bourbon street, this might be a nice change. Situated on the Ouachita River, West Monroe boasts a population of just fewer than 14,000, but this small town has a big town feel.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Plan your own vacation and find out the little known places around this great country. Find your hotel here.

Some Caribbean Islands to Consider

If when you hear the word ‘vacation’ it transcends you into an island paradise when the salty air sticks to your skin and the green waters meet the miles of white sandy shorelines, then visiting the islands of the Caribbean are the answer. Although knowing you want a Caribbean vacation is quite easy; picking the right one among these hundreds of coastal getaways might be a little harder then merely boarding a plane. You know you want plenty of sunshine, tropical weather and as water and beach as far as the eye can see. I have been to a few wonderful islands and I thought that I would share with you some of my favorites in no particular order:

Jamaica. Everyone has, at one point or another, been beckoned to experience this island oasis and with good reason. The people are as friendly as any of the other ‘major island’ and aside from the wonderful beaches they have, there is a lot more stuff to do. The one issue that I did have with this island, its pretty much what you see is what you get; granted, you do get a lot.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Caribbean packages that include air so these and other great island getaways can be found here. Need a nice place to stay, check out these wide variety of options.

Labor Day & Long Weekends

I remember watching a comedy special where George Cariln, in his usual ‘things that make you go hmmm’ way, posed the question; What exactly is better then sliced bread?” Having never really given it much thought, until George brought it to the forefront, I feel that long weekends have got to be somewhere in the mix. And on the doorstep of the unofficial end to summer weekend, I would like to list 5 reasons why I feel this way:

5. A reason to grill as if you really needed one. Look at the Food Network and the majority of their shows during these long breaks from work talk about getting out there and grilling. Rain or shine, this exercise will make you feel like you’re doing exactly what you should be doing at the exact time you should be doing it.

4. Not having to set your alarm. If you have been trying to catch up on some sleep during the week, this might be your best chance to do it.** End Summary**
About the Author:
There is plenty of ideas here - flight, hotel, car rental - for your long weekend getaway, or any getaway. DunhillVacations.com , one stop shopping for all your travel needs.

The Travel Industries' Stimulus Plan for Luxury Vacations

I’m not a big believer in taking people’s word at face value. I’m not from Missouri, but their moniker of being the ‘Show Me State’ is pretty much how I view things.

Luxury is a word that, more times then not, gets thrown around to haphazardly. How often do you build yourself up to go someplace that is advertised as luxurious, only to find out that the term only refers to the most expensive room; or that luxurious view that you seen in the pamphlet costs more then a lot of your first automobiles? A simple steadfast rule has always been Luxury = $$”. But what about these days when the cost of enjoying any vacation, let alone a luxurious one, is stretching the means that we have?

Sometimes, the more you expect from a vacation the more disappointed you are when you get there. In researching the new fad of "luxury all inclusives", Excellence Resorts has passed by my desk.
My research shows the chains' philosophy of total wellness and that sums up these resorts to a tee.

These philosophers of the total wellness philosophy are located in Mexico and Punta Cana.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Point your internet browser here for all the information on these all-inclusive resorts.

The Luck o' The Irish Might be More Then a Phrase

As I was finishing up the remaining Corned Beef Hash and green beer left over from another St. Paddy’s Day, I started thinking about other oddities that people do to celebrate the Patron Saint of Ireland’s day. The Chicago River is dyed green on this day; which leads me to conclude that if they can paint it green for one day, why not paint it blue for 364 of the other days?

But with all that goes on during the celebration on March 17; I thought it would be nice to pay homage to the place where it all started, Ireland.

Limerick is the third largest city in the Republic of Ireland. Located on the River Shannon, and in 2006, 90,778 folks called Limerick City and the immediate urban area home. The history of this city is full and dates back all the way to 812. The city was redesigned by the Normans in the 12th century and most of the notable architecture was present King John’s Castle and St. Mary’s Cathedral are two structures that represent this style.

Only 15 minutes from Shannon Airport, Limerick City is one of the country’s most tourist destinations.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Interested in more details about the offer? Click here for all the details

A Gem in a Little Known Place Called Crested Butte!

I have never been too fascinated with the tabloids. Sure, like most people, the act of picking up one of these ‘yellow journalistic’ publications is much better then waiting for the person in front of you at the check-out line in the grocery store who has to make sure that they have all their coupons, is fun. When such a moment occurs, vacation spots is what I would say is what’s most appealing to me. I like to see where the next starlet is going to spend their vacation.

In one such instance, I remember reading about a place called Crested Butte. Located in Gunnison County, Colorado, this little known spot has been a outdoor adventure haven for those who knew about it…and that wasn’t too many people. The population of this place, according to the 2000 census, was only 1,529 people.

Chances are you may have never thought of this destination for winter/summer activities and vacations, that may have been because there was very little air service there.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Click here for all the information you need to enjoy your outdoor adventure in Crested Butte, Colorado.

A Journey to Moscow & Red Square

Seldom there is a time when a particular destination grabs my attention and makes me sit up and take notice. A subtle mixture of the past meeting the present; while displaying it in a way that captures both the thrill and the suspense of what is awaiting you around the each and every corner.

My latest journey took me to Moscow; and although I did, subconsciously, relive the negative feelings that everyone in the US felt about the country back in the late 70’s and 80’s (I am old enough to remember, although young enough to make it to any meaningful sense of it) I was elated for the opportunity to explore and soak in the culture of both the people and the country as a whole.

Moscow the capital and the largest city of the Russian Federation, is a city in which one comes face to face with all that is great and frustrating in Russia. The generous people of the city are as evident as the extreme tension of a city coming to terms with the un-assuredness of social change. More so in Moscow, then anywhere else in a country of 6.** End Summary**
About the Author:
2 gets you to Moscow and back from New York City. A chance to check Moscow off your Bucket List!

Record low temperatures are sweeping across the US. Just the other day, a friend from the great Northeast shared with me his experience of ice-picking his car and shoveling out his parking spot in front of his house. Here in Florida, where I reside, record breaking temperatures are also occurring…record high temperatures.

Orlando might be a big draw for visitors to this 447-mile peninsula, but there is more to this place then just a famous mouse. Florida has more then 1,000 miles of beaches, major airports near each city, inexpensive airfare to get here, this is the destination for those who thirst for the fun-in-the-sun atmosphere.

St. Petersburg, known for its sunsets, located on the Gulf Coast of Florida, is a hidden gem. Located a few miles to the east, St. Pete Beach occupies the entire space of Long Key. Many more fine and casual dining spots are scattered throughout this area. Succulent dishes like the Garlic shrimp at The Reef or one of the best places to BBQ called the Rib City Restaurant. So much to do and see here and with rates up to 67% off, you gotta go!** End Summary**
About the Author:
Click here to view the Florida getaway or the 0 gift card

Stay Home or Go on Vacation? May Cost More to Stay Home

Many of us have had to dip into our vacation budget this year and do not plan on taking one in a while…but that was then. Most people do not know how inexpensive vacations are both for the holidays and next year. The cost of picture perfect get-aways are at an all time low, and being a travel writer hundreds of "deals" cross my desk. Many, I know, are not really deals, as many times they will tell you it is a deal, but it is really their price. However, at this time, I am seeing some amazing deals this year culminating into some 2009 travel opportunities that really need mentioning. As I sift through loads of great travel deals to some of the world’s most amazing places, I chose only a few, so I came up with the top 5 spots to visit during the holidays, winter, Spring & Summer! The criteria I used in making my choices, included price vs. value, added values, destination and lodging.

Let’s move on to the countdown:

5.) Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas - A fantasy-like resort casino, located on Paradise Island, in the Bahamas.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Rich Gonzalez is a travel writer for Dunhill Vacation News, a travel portal with great deals to great destinations every day.
Swim with the Dolphins in an Ancient World

Since my early days living in the great Northeast, I have been connected to warmer weather and greener waters, along with the thick salt air that sticks to your skin. One such place that I have come across that combine all the things that say vacation and "get away" is Atlantis Paradise Island in the Bahamas.

This large resort and casino which dominates the islands real estate, is a mega-plex of an exotic, ancient world making you feel as if you have truly left your present life. The Atlantis has everything for those of us that feel that money is no object (they house one of the worlds most expensive hotel suites in the world - $25,000 per night) to those of us that are more price savvy. Made up of 6 different towers and resorts, Atlantis offers many different room types and a variety of restaurants to fit every budget. And now they have stepped up with a wondrous package to combine the Atlantis experience with swimming with the dolphins.

This amazing offer starts at $299 for a 3 night stay at this one of a kind resort in Paradise Island.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Click here to learn more regarding the "Dolphin Play with Every Stay" promotion.

A skierâ€'s paradise is in store for those that visit Crested Butte, Colorado. The last ski town in Colorado is 4 hours from Denver, and 3 scenic hours from both Colorado Springs and Grand Junction; and offers a tranquil escape to reconnect with both nature and the entire family. I have been there - and the scenery is phenomenal!

A pleasant change of pace from escaping the cold and heading to St. Somewhere”, Crested Butte is every bit as relaxing as it is exciting. Adventure junkies can tackle any number of ski resorts that line this wonderful little town, while nature lovers can sit and marvel at some of the most serene snow-cap mountains anywhere in the world. Yes, the holidays are here, and the people at Gunnison Crested Butte, Colorado have every intention on making this holiday season one to remember.

Currently Gunnison is offering Thanksgiving and Christmas deals for families, friends and couples alike. If your vacation ranges December 26, 2008 January 3, 2008, the fifth night is free. Ranging from hotel suites to four bedroom condos, you can save up to $1138; not to mention up to 20% on your equipment rentals.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Thanksgiving & Christmas Deal

Come to the Island of Jamaica!

Lets begin with eliminating the stereotype that Jamaica is a dangerous place to vacation. I have been going there for 10+ years and this jewel of the Caribbean is able to blend modern comforts with natureâ€'s beauty. Like everywhere else in the world, if youâ€'re traveling to a place without doing some homework, wandering into areas you do not know, or going somewhere alone with a stranger, you may run into trouble. However, as a repeat Jamaica vacationer, I am saddened to hear people say they wont go there because they think it is "dangerous". Let's wipe that rumor away.

With its miles of white sandy beaches, Jamaica hits home with couples, singles and family vacationers. Touching down in Montego Bay, where the main airport is located, you get the sense that you are where reggae began…and you can feel the reality of Bob Marley's song "Donâ€'t worry, about a thing, Cause every little thing is gonna be alright".

Finding a place to stay in Jamaica may be the source of the scare of coming to this tropical retreat because there is so much to choose from. Jamaica is a big Island with many different beach areas and local cities.** End Summary**
About the Author:
You can view all of these deals a many more like it by click here

Once in Lifetime Deal to Australia

As a travel writer for Dunhill Vacation News, I have written about some of the most amazing places on the planet. Mexico and the Caribbean, Europe, and of course all of the cruises that are out there right now; but I have never seen a deal quite like this one to the destination of Australia.

During the early days of the 60â€'s and 70â€'s, Monty Hall would scrimmage through flocks of adults dressed like sheep and clowns and would holler out; Letâ€'s Make A Deal”; and with all intents and purposes would have the contestant gamble on what was behind door #3. Of course, some times the contestant would risk $380 to take their chance at the door only to be flabbergasted at the fact that they just purchased a goat. Which really begs the question; what can you really get for $380?”

In one word, Australia! Thatâ€'s what you can get for the amazing low price of $380. Qantas Vacation is offering the first 300 Dunhill Members air fare to Australia for this unheard of price. Yes, this is one way, but when have you ever heard of flying to Australia and back for under $1000?** End Summary**
About the Author:
Click here to view Brisbane deal

Three Countries, One Airfare!

What is it about the unknown that makes it, at times, seem so exciting? Is it the thought of standing at the foot of where the ocean breaks, staring up on the crescent moon and wondering what is on the other side of it? I often find myself thinking about visiting the far side of the world; places like Australia, Fiji and New Zealand for starters.

With flights heading out to Australia from LA, you can catch some Z's and wake up literally on the other side of the planet! With its over 2.9 million square miles of land, this country is filled with history, underwater treasures and, for the nature lover, some of the most amazing creatures to ever roam the wild. If youâ€'re a wine lover, or one that occasionally enjoys a nice glass, Australia, with its average temperature of 67F (19C), has some of the worldâ€'s best Chardonnay. Some major spots to visit might be a no-brainer but as simply obvious as it might be to some, the Great Barrier Reef is not a simple attraction.** End Summary**
About the Author:
You can view this amazing offer by clicking here

Skiing is Just Better in Colorado!

Skiing was not something that I did a lot of growing up in the big city. Not too many mountains lined the horizon outside my back porch, or front porch for that matter. Our skiing experienced was usually limited too a few small mountains in upstate New Hampshire, or if we really wanted a treat, we would make the two plus hour drive to Maine or better yet Vermont.

I began flirting with the idea to try my hand at skiing out west about two years ago, when a childhood friend went out there for business and was amazed to find a different kind of experience. The snow seemed more ‘whiter’ as he put it and much more fluffy (yes, our skiing vernacular could turn heads!) The area of Colorado that he traveled too was Crested Butte, right along the East River Valley; in the county of Gunnison.

Heralded as “the last great Colorado ski town”, Crested Butte has more then just skiing, or snowboarding depending on the age you are. Outdoor adventurers and nature enthusiasts will love it here as this is what this place is all about.** End Summary**
About the Author:
You can get all the information on this deal by clicking here.

If you are looking for nightlife, shopping, restaurants and endless beaches - Cancun, a coastal city in Mexico's easternmost state, is perfect. Cancun also offers some of the countries best deals. I found this deal that offers 50% off plus a free $100 reward card. Although most of the hotels and resorts are all-inclusive, this $100 is for resort credits on things that are not included on your all-inclusive vacation; so you can use that $100 reward card for some new clothes, or better yet, a relaxing spa treatment! The high powered nightlife and the people that leave their inhibitions at the door are what this island city if all about.

A short stone throw away; where the pace of life is a little slower and less congested, is Playa del Carmen. Situated in the center of the Riviera Maya concept, this city on the coast of the Caribbean Sea is the picture perfect image of a small fishing village and artists’ community. The activity that goes on in Playa del Carman centers around Fifth Avenue which is a pedestrian walkway lined with boutique hotels, bars, restaurants and shops.** End Summary**
About the Author:
To experience any of these getaways, click here.

Reasoning with Hurricane Season! - A Guide to Traveling Around Hurricanes

From June 1 – November 30, Hurricane season disturbs the Atlantic Region. Affecting the entire eastern coast of the United States, Bermuda, the Bahamas, the Caribbean and Eastern Mexico along with the states that border the Gulf of Mexico, traveling during this time is a gamble.

Typically, the worst times for storms in the Atlantic Region occur between August thru the end of October, which, if you take a look at vacation spots, Caribbean and Mexico are among the cheapest destinations to visit during these times. If these deals are just what you are looking for and spots that are prone for more hurricane activity making the price too good to pass up, then by all means, book the trip. Purchase trip insurance and do some research on the hurricane policies on the airlines/hotels/tour operators.

However, if you’re looking to avoid any threat of hurricanes, turn your attention to Caribbean islands that do not lie in the hurricane belt. Curacao is one of only a few islands in the Caribbean that fall outside of the hurricane belt. With more than 35 beautiful beaches, Curacao boasts some of the world’s top dive sites.** End Summary**
About the Author:
Click here to view Curacao Deal.

Travelling with a Taste of Latin Flare

A new exotic adventure that was only available to those of better monetary gains, have become available to even the most frugal of travelers. Mexico and Europe are on the minds of travelers who never thought it possible to visit these places and experience their culture. Even the United States, a true melting pot of different influences, has many different and eye-opening things to see.

Mexico has been an escape for many young college kids looking to leave their inhibitions at the border and just have a great time. However, Mexico is much more then just a haven for the rowdy number of 20-somethings that parade around in their bathing suites. The rich aroma of Mexican cuisine fills the air and makes you crave some of their traditional dishes such as tacos, enchiladas or the lesser known milanesa; which consists of a thin slice of beef, or sometimes chicken or veil. There is a ton to see and do here, so a good modus operandi would be to give yourself some time to explore. A nice little appetizer into Mexico might be this 3 night stay in Mexico City and 3 nights in Acapulco.** End Summary**
About the Author:
So, whether you’re a traveler or a tourist, there is no reason why you should confine yourself to the mundane and follow the crowd. Get out there and explore different tastes and experiences. Travel more, spend less and see more on your next vacation.

Whether its walking down Worth Avenue in Palm beach window shopping, unless you are among the fortunate who can afford to go in the stores, or practicing that golf swing on one of thousands of golf courses, or just listening to the calming sounds of the surf on these beautiful beaches, Florida is a melting pot of many different activities.

Is Palm Beach, Florida Out of Reach? Not Quite!

Separated by the Intracoastal Waterway, Palm Beach has been long associated as a vacation spot for the rich and famous. Established as a resort by the American tycoon Henry Morrison Flagler, Palm Beach is a who’s who in the world of luxury. One look at such places as the Breakers Hotel or the Flagler Museum, and you know that your somewhere both rich in history, and just plain rich. By staying at a more economical resort just outside Palm Beach, like the Palm Beach Shores Resort; you get to experience not only what Palm Beach has to offer, but what the whole county has to offer.
