Anxiety Attacks - Eat Right and Reduce Your Anxiety Levels!

Modifying your dietary intake may be the key to reducing your anxiety and stress levels. In addition to removing stimulants like caffeine and nicotine, reducing your sugar intake can also help. High sugar consumption can lead to a variety of conditions including diabetes or hypoglycemia if you experience sudden, dramatic drops in your sugar levels.

Hypoglycemia symptoms such as trembling, light headedness, palpitations and irritability all mirror the symptoms of a panic attack. Americans today simply eat too much sugar, it´s in the soda we drink, the processed meats we eat and the desserts we consume.

Food allergies can trigger panic like symptoms such as dizziness, insomnia, headaches, disorientation and fatigue. Reactions can occur from consuming a small amount of food but sometimes reactions are only triggered by consuming a large amount of that particular food or eating particular foods in combination.

Thus, you may not be aware that a food allergy is triggering your panic attack symptoms. You can get tested and pay a lot of money or you can figure out food allergies by doing elimination tests. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Panic Attacks - Avoid This Common Nutrition and Reduce Your Anxiety!

What you put into your body affects the way you feel and the internal physiology of your body.

We are all aware that some foods and drinks act as stimulants and others have a soothing effect, some are even purported to be aphrodisiacs. Since there is a relationship between food and the way we feel, it is important that you are conscious of what you are taking in because it will affect what comes out and that includes your anxiety level.

Of course seeing a nutritionist is the best way to get the necessary personal evaluation and modifications to your diet but there are some general guidelines that might help your anxiety and panic attack levels.

One of the substances that can aggravate anxiety is caffeine. This shouldn´t be surprising given that it is stimulant. Its function is to put you into a hyper aware state and it releases adrenalin, the very substance that triggers your fight or flight response and an anxious or stressed reaction.

Moreover, high levels of caffeine can interfere with you ability to sleep which can make you more susceptible to panic attacks and generalized anxiety.

Caffeine is all around us. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

How to Manage Your Fear Even if You're Really Anxious!

Anxiety is a pain in the neck; in fact it can be a debilitating pain all over your body if you suffer from severe anxiety.

During an anxiety attack, it can feel like death is imminent, your heart races, your chest tightens, your breathing becomes labored, your body suffers oxygen depravation, you lose feeling in your limbs, the list of potential symptoms goes on and on.

All of these effects add up to a great deal of fear from any sufferer. Who wants to expose themselves to the risk of feeling like they´re dying everyday. Most of us are not into self torture. Therefore, we take the rational route; we seek to avoid anything and everything that may cause our panic.

This overkill approach causes you to associate any and everything with your panic, fear and anxiety.

If you were anxious in the cereal aisle of the supermarket, you might stop going to that market, might stop going to all stores of that name, or even all grocery stores completely. Moreover, you might start to avoid cereal, or stop wearing the shoes or scarf you were wearing that day because maybe they caused your panic. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Panic Attacks - A Tiny Fear Takes on Epic Proportions When You Suffer From a Phobia!

We all have scared, worried or anxious thoughts. These are normal occurrences and usually passing sensations.

We deal with our fear, confront, fail or succeed and move on. Some people are not able to go through this process and instead suffer extreme reactions to everyday occurrences.

Avoidance of the undesirable activity helps to further heighten the anxiety surrounding the particular problem and often leads to drastic measures.

Phobias come in all shapes and sizes. Some people are afraid of elevators, some of dogs, some of driving, while others are scared of bridges, germs, public speaking or authority figures. The fearful feelings are overwhelming and cause the sufferer to avoid the activities which they fear.

This avoidance also serves to further exaggerate the fear in the phobia sufferer´s mind.

Sufferers will go to tremendous lengths to avoid the feared activity. Climb 20 flights of stairs instead of riding an elevator. Only driving places where there are no bridges involved, avoiding promotions or opportunities to present information because of the fear of public speaking or interacting with authority figures.

The detrimental affect that a phobia can have on your life can be incalculable. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Panic Attacks Have Power Because You Let Them!

1, 2, 3 - panic! Make yourself have a panic attack right now. Go ahead, try it. You probably won´t have any luck. Why? Because even though I´m telling you to do it, there´s nothing really to panic over at this moment and you have decided not to have a panic attack.

Just as you decide not to have a panic attack, you also decide to have a panic attack. This sounds pretty crazy doesn´t it? After all, aren´t panic attacks out of your control?

That´s what we´re always told that the anxious sensations that course through our bodies preceding and during a panic attack are actually beyond the ability of our bodies to control.

This misconception simply adds to the fear factor associated with panic attacks. We tell ourselves that they just happen, we can´t do anything about it and then we live our lives plagued by the fear of a panic attack, worried about the impending doom that will disrupt our day.

No wonder so many anxiety sufferers just get depressed and give up. It seems so hopeless when it´s framed in a way where attacks seem arbitrary and capricious. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Panic attacks can strike at any point in your life, even if you´ve never experienced them before.

It´s not like you have a get out of jail free card if you make it to 18, 30 or even 50 without encountering a panic attack. It depends on the specific triggering events that happen in your life as well as your predisposition to anxiety.

For many young people, high school and college are a particularly stressful time and therefore a time of panic attacks. Studying for the SAT´s, taking achievement tests, applying to college, even figuring out your prom date can all be sources of great strain.

There is so much pressure placed on young people today and many kids push themselves too hard trying to please themselves, their parents and others, that significant anxiety, even panic attacks result.

If you are experiencing panic attacks or high levels of anxiety, it’s certainly not the end of the world. When you´re young, it can sometimes feel like problems take on gigantic size proportions. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Have you ever felt like people were watching you? Have you ever felt self conscious and nervous simply walking down the street? What if you ran into someone you knew and had to talk to them? What if people are laughing at you?

These are just some of thoughts that might be coursing through the mind of a person struggling with social phobia, generalized anxiety or a number of other anxiety conditions.

The worst thing that an anxiety sufferer fears beyond all of these worries is that other people will see or know they are afraid. Struggling with the fear of embarrassment and the worry of discovery are daily occupations for phobia, panic attack and anxiety sufferers.

These fears often remain hidden because people are unable or unwilling to talk about them and fear the reaction of others when told about these fear based problems.

Many anxiety sufferers may find their sleep disturbed worrying about an upcoming meeting. Even after the meeting is over and relief has set in, the memory of the meeting and the anticipation of the next one are at the forefront of your thoughts, leaving you worried, nervous and once again without sleep. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Attacks - The Importance of Family and Friends When You Have Anxiety!

Anxiety has a way of making you disconnect from those that care about you and those you care about. It is a creeping fear that makes you doubt yourself, heightens your discomfort and makes you feel awkward and inept.

After struggling with your fears, doubts and worries for so long and devoting substantial effort to keep them hidden from others because that´s what anxiety sufferers do, you are left exhausted and unable to muster the strength to interact with your family and friends.

Pretty soon, going out to dinner with your family becomes a chore, seeing your friends´ becomes a hassle and you would rather stay at home in comfort than deal with the struggle.

This scenario is one of the reasons so many anxiety sufferers become depressed. They feel cut off and alone and often have no one to talk to or confide in about their problems.

The shame and fear are the most overpowering emotions, leaving you to contend with your anxiety and panic attacks in private. It’s important to have someone, at least one person to talk to about your situation. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Attacks - Are You Happy? Maybe That´s Why You´re Anxious?

When you are happy and contented there is usually less reason to be anxious. If your bills are paid, you have a loving family and enjoy your job; it´s easier to have a calm mind. This just makes sense, with less to worry about, there are fewer thought threads that can lead to panic attacks, generalized anxiety or other problems.

Of course, few people have such a perfect life, that´s really for fairy tales. However, many people can find contentment, happiness and gratitude for what they have which will lead to a more positive mindset and that´s key when you´re fighting anxiety.

In today´s consumer oriented culture, most of us value our self worth by what we have. How big our house is, how many cars we have, where our kids go to school have all become paramount concerns and sources for bragging rights. When we fall short of our neighbors, friends or families, we feel inadequate.

This mindset is what drove so many consumers into horrendous debt. Keeping up with Joneses have left American families and American adults feeling worn out and inadequate. It´s no wonder that anxiety based conditions are at an all time high. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

The idea of energy balance has its basis in medical systems that have been utilized in the Far East for thousands of years. All of these systems assume that there is a subtle nonphysical energy that permeates and circulates throughout the body.

Traditional Chinese medicine calls this "chi". The terms that best describe this energy in English would be "life force" or "vital energy". The difference in energy that you feel when you have the flu versus when you are healthy is an example of fluctuations in this type of energy.

In Chinese medicine, subtle energy is understood to be distributed throughout the body along channels called "meridians”. One of the most important functions of all of the energy-balance approaches is to harmonize and optimize the "flow" of subtle energy by releasing blocks to that flow. Blocked energy leads to tension, anxiety, stress, and ultimately illness. In fact, Chinese medicine traces all disease back to various types and degrees of blockage in the flow of vital energy.

Regular practice of energy balance disciplines such as yoga or t´ai chi helps to release blocks to the natural flow of vitality. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Are You Suffering From Confinement Phobia? Tips to Reduce Your Anxiety!

Answer true or false:

•	I get anxious in most situations where I have to stop and wait, for example, stoplights, standing in line at the grocery store.
•	I avoid or am afraid of traveling on public transportation, trains, buses, commercial jets.
•	It´s uncomfortable for me to be in a closed-in place or in a crowd of people.
•	I often feel trapped by something in my life situation, such as my job, marriage, family responsibilities, health, or debt.
•	It´s difficult for me to make a long-term commitment to someone or something.

The fear of confinement runs through a number of different phobias including: fear of flying, fear of elevators, fear of crowded public places, fear of small enclosed places (claustrophobia), and fear of being stuck” anywhere in traffic, bridges, tunnels, or riding on public transportation. Of all of the types of fear, I believe that fear of confinement most frequently disguises an underlying fear of something else, what some psychologists would call a displaced” fear.

Growing up in a dysfunctional family situation; **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Why Are More Women Phobic? What About Emotional Stress?

The reported incidence of phobic behavior is at least four times greater for women than it is for men. Some estimates suggest there are ten times as many phobic women as phobic men. Yet no one has ever been able to offer a satisfactory explanation for this.

Of course many people, both professional and nonprofessional, have tried to explain these puzzling statistics. Some suggest that "women are more emotional than men," that "women think too much," or that "women have nothing better to do all day than worry." Others suggest that men are less willing to admit they have a problem and that these "closet phobics" are biasing the statistics.

Some of these explanations could have more than a grain of truth in them. Others are quite ludicrous. But none of them satisfactorily accounts for the significantly higher incidence of phobic behavior reported among the female population.

However, once you have established that phobias are the result of an underlying inner-ear disorder and you are aware of the many factors that can destabilize the inner-ear system, it suddenly becomes very obvious why there are more phobic women than phobic men. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Suddenly Phobic - Am I Going Crazy? It's All in Your Ears!

One of the most frightening aspects of phobic behavior is the way it sometimes appears so suddenly and unexpectedly. One day you're perfectly healthy, happy, and normal. The next day you're phobic. The sudden onset of phobic symptoms is often more frightening than the phobias themselves. Patients wonder: Am I sick? Am I dying? Am I going crazy? Do I have a brain tumor? What is happening to me?

IT'S ALL IN YOUR EARS!

More than 20 percent of the population has some form of inner-ear dysfunction. Some of these individuals are phobic all of their lives. Others never suffer from a single phobia. And some live phobia-free lives for twenty, fifty, or even eighty years before problems suddenly surface. Yet all of these observations can be easily explained and understood once the culprit, the inner-ear system, has been identified. Let me explain.

Even though an impaired inner-ear system is a necessary prerequisite for the development of most phobias, the presence of such a problem does not necessarily lead to phobic behavior. Basically, there are two factors that determine whether or not phobias ever surface:

1) The nature and extent of the dysfunction. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Social anxiety disorder affects millions of Americans and leaves men and women, young and old alike with performance anxiety related to a great deal of different situations and interactions. The seemingly innocuous, normal, everyday interactions can drive a social anxiety sufferer to distraction or panic.

These feelings of self conscious anxiety can strike anywhere and at anytime.

For example, when waiting in line, a man was convinced that everyone was looking at him and the gigantic tray of food he was carrying. Everyone was staring at him and he could only imagine what they were thinking.

He started to sweat, worrying about who was watching him and became incredibly self conscious. He fumbles in his wallet, trying to remove the money but his shaking hands only cause his anxiety to rise further.

Analyzing what happened to poor Al and his cafeteria tray, it´s easy to say that he overreacted and that´s definitely true. It´s probable that no one even noticed his tray and if they did they probably didn´t think much of it.

How many times do you actually focus on what someone else is eating unless they slip and everything goes flying through the air in a spectacular crash? **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Are You Struggling with Social Anxiety Disorder or Social Phobia?

So many people struggle with social phobia and may not even be aware of it. It is one of the most common psychological problems in America today, suffered by millions of people. Many people will dismiss the condition as nerves, performance anxiety or awkwardness.

Some people are just more comfortable in front of others or interacting with others. If you have trouble feeling comfortable in group situations, if you avoid interacting with new people or fear talking in situations where people are looking at you, you might be suffering from social phobia.

This is nothing to be ashamed of, in fact it should empower you because now you know what you are dealing with and there are many ways to counteract the effects you feel.

Anxiety sufferers often go to great lengths to hide their conditions. This is of course based on the fear of ridicule or condemnation if other people actually knew how fearful they were in everyday life. However, if everyone actually felt comfortable enough to discuss their problems, they would quickly realize they were not alone. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

The Inner-Ear Dysfunction Is This The Physiological Cause of Your Phobic Behavior?

Many patients want to know more about the physiological roots of their phobic behavior. If you think your phobias are the product of an inner-ear dysfunction, you may have the same concerns. How did you get this dysfunction in the first place? Can it get worse? Can it get better?

As might be expected, many people are born with an inner-ear dysfunction. But this problem can also be acquired in any number of ways throughout the various stages of your life. Let's examine some of these possibilities.

GENETICALLY ACQUIRED

Inner-ear dysfunction is frequently in the genes, passed down from generation to generation in a faulty genetic blueprint. If you inherited your inner-ear problems, chances are that other members of your family (parents, grandparents, siblings) have similar problems.

Some of your family members may have phobias; maybe even the same ones you have. Some may have different inner-ear-related symptoms. Others may have phobias and other related symptoms. And some fortunate members of your family may have no visible signs of inner-ear dysfunction.

It all depends on the luck of the draw. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Disorder - What If You Can Overcome Your Insecurity and Overdependency?

Here is a list of five questions to help you assess whether the particular trait applies to you. The remainder of the article describes the characteristic in more detail and suggest how to overcome the problems.

Answer true or false:

• It's very hard for me to be alone.

• I feel like nothing unless someone loves me.

• It's very difficult for me if my partner or loved one(s) go away.

• I fear I wouldn't be able to make it if something happened to my partner (or loved one).

• I always feel at my best when someone is with me.

Insecurity and over dependency, along with a fear of being abandoned, are common issues for people with anxiety problems, especially those suffering from agoraphobia.

When these traits are pronounced, you may have difficulty making decisions for yourself without a lot of reassurance or advice from others. You do not want to disagree with others close to you for fear of losing their support. You may lack confidence in yourself to take initiative to do things on your own apart from your significant other (s). **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Disorder - Do You Want To Overcome Your Social Phobia ?

If fear of rejection has led you to distance yourself from people, especially groups, there are several specific things you can do.
First and foremost, you need to build a sense of your own self-worth. In addition to this, cognitive-behavioral therapy offers three specific types of interventions:

•	Social skills training

•	Graded exposure to social situations

•	Cognitive-behavioral group therapy

Social skills training may be appropriate if you feel at a loss about how to converse with people in small or large groups. You can gain proficiency in starting and maintaining conversations, drawing other people out, listening, maintaining good eye contact, and achieving self-disclosure through role-playing these skills with a family member or a therapist.

You can also role-play more specific activities such as interviewing for a job, using small talk at a party, or asking someone out on a date. Once you gain confidence in such skills with a supportive friend or therapist, you can begin to try them out in real life.

Graded exposure to social situations involves setting up a series of specific activities that you commit to doing, either with the help of a therapist or on your own. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Disorder - Do You Want To Enhance Your Self Worth and Self Respect?

There are five basic strategies to improve:

• Enhance self-worth and self-respect.

• Develop a realistic view of other people's approval.

• Develop assertiveness skills.

• Recognize and let go of codependency.

• Overcome social avoidance (social phobia), if applicable.

ENHANCE SELF-WORTH AND SELF-RESPECT

Briefly, self-esteem is about how you relate to yourself. Do you like, respect, trust, and believe in yourself? When you like yourself, you can live comfortably with both your personal strengths and weaknesses without undue self-criticism. You also acknowledge and take care of your own personal needs.

When you respect yourself, you recognize your own dignity and value as a unique human being. You stand up for your basic rights. You ask for what you want and you can say "no" to what you don´t want. Self-trust means you trust your body, feelings, and behavior. You feel consistent within yourself no matter what changes and challenges may occur in your outer environment.

To believe in yourself means you feel you deserve to have the good things in life. You have goals toward which you´re working and a personal sense of accomplishment about what you've done with your life. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Disorder - Do Your Self Esteem Comes From Pleasing Others?

Here is a list of five questions to help you assess whether the particular trait applies to you. The remainder of the article describes the characteristic in more detail.

Answer true or false:

•	What others think of me is very important.

•	People won't like me if they see who I really am.

•	I want everyone to like me.

•	I should always be nice, not irritable or unpleasant.

•	My self-worth comes from caring for and helping others.

Being overly concerned with approval arises from an inner, emotional sense of being flawed or unworthy. The underlying fear is that others won´t like you or will reject you. So you strive to go out of your way to please both strangers as well as those people you care about.

In social situations, you feel vulnerable and always try hard to maintain a good impression. You may constantly be on guard about saying or doing something embarrassing. In intimate and family relationships, you go out of your way to take care of everyone else´s needs at the expense of meeting your own.

You may have a difficult time setting boundaries or saying no. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Disorder - Which of the These Anxiety Prone Traits and Core Fears Apply to You?

Three factors contribute to the development of anxiety: your heredity; your personality, which is influenced strongly by your upbringing and childhood experiences; and cumulative stress, the amount of stress you experience in your adult life.

Your genes and your personality traits can predispose you toward a panic or phobic disorder, but actually developing that disorder is usually triggered either by one major stressor such as the death of a loved one or a series of life stresses over a period of time.

Most people with anxiety difficulties display at least two or three of these traits, which include:

•	excessive need for approval
•	insecurity and over-dependency
•	over-control
•	perfectionism
•	over-cautiousness
•	"confinement phobia"

People prone to anxiety disorders also have plenty of positive traits, such as creativity, intuitive ability, emotional sensitivity, and amiability. Such traits often endear them to their relatives and friends.

Anxiety-prone personality characteristics tend to be associated with specific, deep-seated fears. Such "core fears" often have their origin in childhood or past trauma. They underlie most of the worries and phobias that come up for people with anxiety.

The six traits described above are motivated by these core fears, which include: fear of rejection; **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Attacks and Phobias Caused By Malfunction in The Inner Ear - Auditory and Coordination Relat

AUDITORY PHOBIAS

All auditory sound information is filtered, sequenced and fine tuned by the inner-ear system. If this system is impaired, you may be hypersensitive to certain loud or piercing noises, such as: a clap of thunder, a fire alarm, a police siren, screeching brakes, a ringing telephone, a tire blowout. If any of these sounds provoke severe or uncontrollable anxiety, phobias may develop.

Notice how this mechanism is highlighted in Evan's description of his auditory phobias:

"There are certain sounds that I have always been very sensitive to and therefore avoid: high-pitched or shrill female voices on the radio, running water, dishes banging together, dogs barking, and normally pitched voices in small, confined areas. The sound of speeding trucks on the turnpike drives me crazy. And music, even classical music, must be kept at a low volume. If not, I feel jangled and upset."

When auditory information is not being properly processed you may be hypersensitive to all loud noise or even to garbled noise, such as the noise of a crowd. Thus, for example, Robert has panic attacks that are triggered by various noisy environments. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Anxiety Panic Attacks Caused By Malfunction in The Inner Ear - Motion and Visual Related Phobias!

MOTION-RALATED PHOBIAS

The inner-ear processes all motion-related information. If it is impaired, you may be hypersensitive to horizontal motion, vertical motion, clockwise motion, counterclockwise motion, or any combination of the above.

Depending on what types of motion you are sensitive to, and your degree of sensitivity to each, the movement of a boat, plane, car, elevator, escalator, or even a rocking chair can provoke any or all of the following symptoms:

•	Anxiety, and related symptoms

•	Dizziness

•	Light-headedness

•	Nausea

•	Vomiting

•	Retching

If your anxiety is severe or uncontrollable, phobias may result.

Motion-Related Phobias: An Example

Chris has a motion-related fear of flying. Notice how his fear is specifically related to horizontal motion sensitivity:

"I´ve only been on an airplane once. That was enough. It was during takeoff. The plane started picking up speed, and suddenly I was pinned to the back of my seat. I couldn´t move. I could barely breathe. My stomach was inside out. It was as if I had lost control of my body... like I was having some kind of seizure. As soon as the plane stabilized I felt a little better, so I started drinking. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:

Classification System of Phobias - Insight Into the Phobic Puzzle and the Missing Link!

To gain real insight into the phobic puzzle, we must first discard our traditional classification system, with its confusing Greek and Latin nomenclature. What we need is a simple, scientifically determined system one that classifies phobias according to their underlying mechanisms, not their obvious triggers.

If we can do this, we will no longer have hundreds of labels that lead us to a never-ending series of dead ends. Instead, we will have a system that classifies all phobias according to three key types. The first two types are as follows:

Type 1: REALISTIC PHOBIAS

Type 1 phobias develop after the traumatic exposure to a real and present danger. For example, one night, while walking down the street, a woman is brutally mugged. This incident sticks in her mind and develops into an uncontrollable fear of walking the streets at night. Her phobia would be considered to have a realistic basis.

Here are a few more examples of realistic phobias: a man develops a fear of knives after being stabbed; a woman develops a fear of horses after being thrown from one; a child develops a fear of flying insects after being stung by a swarm of bees, etc. **End Summary** Topics: Panic Attacks Anxiey Attacks Panic Disorder Anxiety Disorder Social Phobia.Agoraphobia OCD GAD
About the Author:
Download your free eBook "Stop Panic Attacks and Deal with Your Anxious Thoughts" here:
