A Man for All Seasons ' 4 Stars (Excellent)

A Man for All Seasons poses the question: What would a man sacrifice for his principles?

When King Henry VIII (Robert Shaw) seeks approval to divorce his aging wife Catherine of Aragon who could not bear him a son, and marry his mistress Anne Boleyn, the Pope and the Roman Catholic Church stand in his way.

Henry VIII's new Chancellor of England and Cardinal--Sir Thomas More (Paul Scofield)—stands in his way as well. Henry VIII wants Sir Thomas More's blessing in his action but does not get it as Sir Thomas More, a good Catholic and Cardinal, will not go along with such heresy.

More resigns as chancellor, seeking to live out his life as a private citizen, but Henry VIII will settle for nothing less than More's public approval of his headstrong course. Sir Thomas refuses to either endorse or denounce the King's action, and remains a man of principle.

Great effort is made to convince More to change his stance on Henry VIII's action. One of More's rivals, Thomas Cromwell (Leo McKern); another religious, Cardinal Wolsey (Orson Welles); **End Summary** Topics: movie review oscars principle integrity Pope Cardinal saint More Cromwell
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Ryan's Daughter ' 4 Stars (Excellent)

"Ryan's Daughter" is a love story that evolves into a love triangle set in the epic splendor of an isolated village on Ireland's scenic Dingle Peninsula. Like all love triangles, it ends in a disaster that becomes a tragedy.

Rosy Ryan (Sarah Miles) seeks to find that certain something that is missing in her life and thinks she finds it when she announces her love for her former schoolteacher, Charles Shaughnessy (Robert Mitchum), who is old enough to be her father.

Unfortunately for Rosy, her marriage brings her love but not passion. It is passion she finds when she meets and instantly falls into the arms of Major Randolph Doryan (Christopher Jones), a young British officer assigned to the village.

Major Doryan is a World War I hero who ends up in the village as part of the British occupation while the war continues on in Europe. The villagers resent the British presence and will jump at a chance to fight for their freedom. **End Summary** Topics: movie review Oscar Ryan's Daughter Sarah Miles Robert Mitchum love triangle tradegy Christopher Jones
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing.

There is so much buzz and hype about the Southeast Conference—better known as the SEC—you would think there are no other NCAA football conferences that can compare.

Even Jeff Sagarin in his Sagarin Ratings lists the SEC as the top conference with a central mean (that is Sagarin math talk) of 79.89 with the Pacific 10—better known as the Pac 10—second at 79.19. On a scale of 100 the difference is 70/100ths of 1, or close enough to not make a difference in my mind.

Ranked 11th among Division 1A conferences is Conference USA at 58.88. Three 1AA conferences are then rated above the last 1A conference—the Sun Belt—at 58.26.

Sagarin rates all of the 242 individual 1A and 1AA teams and then combines them among conferences to arrive at these figures.

I read other factors into his mathematical formula for deciding which conference is the toughest (best) conference.

Knowing that the SEC is legion for scheduling Division 1AA teams in its non-conference schedule, I suspect that the SEC's strength of schedule (the quality of its opponents) may not be as strong. **End Summary** Topics: college football toughest conference SEC Pac 10 Big 10 Big 12 Big East Atlantic Coast
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Many sports fans who anxiously await the release of the weekly football polls really miss one of the best parts of the poll when searching only to see where their favorite is ranked.

Many newspapers and online services do not give the total results of the polling, they only list the Top 25 picks for the week.

You have to dig a little deeper to discover which teams received votes but not enough votes to make it into the Top 25. Look at the bottom of the poll results for this entry in small print: Others Receiving Votes.

In Tuesday's AP Poll (9-11-07) it showed these entries: South Florida 220, Missouri 144, Alabama 116, Washington 95, Arizona State 28, Appalachian State 19, Cincinnati 12, and Kansas 1. All of these teams started their season by winning their first two games, many times impressively.

I am ignoring five other teams which garnered votes in the AP Poll to make a point. These five were TCU 66, Auburn 23, Florida State 2, Iowa 1 and Purdue 1. Iowa and Purdue are 2-0 but have not won as impressively and the others are 1-1. **End Summary** Topics: college football Sagarin ratings AP Poll BCS Jeff Sagarin Division 1A Division 1AA gambling
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. While betting on sports is only legal in a few places in the United States, such as Las Vegas, millions of office workers are involved in sports pools every week now that the football season has arrived.

When you know that more than $700 million can be bet on one game—the Super Bowl—in only Las Vegas, then you understand that billions were bet illegally on the Super Bowl last year in the United States and in offshore sports books around the world.

Folks in the gaming business know that more than a billion dollars is wagered on every Monday Night Football game during the season.

For those who wager, it may be helpful to put some science on your side when you wager, and one of the best places to do that is with the Sagarin College Football Ratings.

Created by Jeff Sagarin, a 1970 MIT mathematics graduate, these computer ratings are for Division I-A (what the NCAA now calls the Football Bowl (FB) Subdivision) and Division I-AA (what the NCAA now calls the Football Championship (FC) Subdivision) teams.
Lost in Translation ' 2 Stars (Average)

"Lost in Translation" was written and directed by Sofia Coppola and won enough awards to fill a grocery cart.

The independent film earned Sofia Coppola an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay and also had 2003 Oscar nominations for Best Picture (won by "The Lord of the Rings, the Return of the King", bad timing for Sofia), Best Director (won by Peter Jackson for Lord of the Rings) and Bill Murray as Best Actor (won by Sean Penn in "Mystic River").

Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in "Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl" lost the same nomination as Murray. I would have voted for Johnny Depp as Best Actor rather than Sean Penn.

Sofia Coppola's creation also won Golden Globe awards for Best Picture, Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Bill Murray), and earned nominations for Best Director and Best Actress (Scarlett Johansson).

The Oscar win was among 70 wins and 58 more nominations. To say Sofia Coppola's creation was lauded by the critics would be a huge understatement.

Seeing this film, I would not have guessed it would have won so many awards. **End Summary** Topics: movie review Oscar Lost in Translation Sofia Coppola Bill Murray Japan Best Picture Best Director Scarlett Johansson
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Many who read the title to this article might think that the second most controversial topic in America today is whether the United States should continue its war in Iraq. Those who thought that would be, in fact, dead wrong.

This article is really about facts, not about our involvement in trying to make Iraq and its people adopt a democratic society, but to revisit the place God occupies in our public institutions and in our society.

Oliver "Buzz" Thomas explored this topic recently in USA Today (10-15-07), America's largest daily circulation newspaper. Thomas is a minister, lawyer and author of 10 Things Your Minister Wants to Tell You (But Can't Because He Needs the Job).

First off, we have the oldest written constitution in the world, however, the United States Constitution was not the first constitution written in this country, that distinction belongs to the Fundamental Orders of Connecticut, written in 1639.

The U. S. Constitution was written in 1787, was ratified and went into effect in March 1789, exactly 150 years after Connecticut's constitution. **End Summary** Topics: God U. The Holiday - 3 Stars (Good)

Christmas is coming soon and everybody is busy getting ready for another holiday season. A movie can be great comic relief. We want to be entertained and interested by a story that keeps us attentive and has a happy ending.

Nancy Meyers delivers what we need as the writer/director of "The Holiday", a romantic comedy with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Jack Black and Eli Wallach. Described by one viewer as the "Swiss Chocolate of Romantic Comedies", it certainly qualifies as its only winning award was the Teen Choice Award for Best Chick Flick.

Actually, I found The Holiday to be a tad more than just a chick flick. As a student of relationships it provided a happy ending to the dilemma of women who get involved in a relationship with men who almost appear interested but invariably cheat.

The premise of The Holiday is pretty simple. Stuck in impossible relationships with two-timing men, Los Angeles resident Amanda (Cameron Diaz) and Londoner Iris (Kate Winslet) decide to swap homes over the Christmas holiday in an effort to forget their troubles. **End Summary** Topics: movie review The Holiday Nancy Meyers Cameron Diaz Kate Winslet Jude Law Jack Black Eli Wallach romantic comedy
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Breakfast on Pluto – 2 Stars (Average)

Breakfast on Pluto is a gender preference movie about a boy who really wants to be a girl, and settles for being a transvestite trying to find a place in a world that curses his very existence. Irish actor Cillian Murphy plays Patrick "Kitten" Braden in a controversial film due to the subject matter.

It is very difficult to make a great film. It is difficult to make a good film. It is almost impossible to make a good film when the subject matter is not even on the radar screen of the average viewer.

Alternative lifestyle films do not win awards even if the actors involved get an Oscar (as Hilary Swank did in Boys Don't Cry), get nominated for an Oscar (as Felicity Huffman did in Transamerica) or get nominated for a Golden Globe (as Cillian Murphy did in Breakfast on Pluto).

The typical moviegoer does not want to talk about alternative lifestyles much less see them. **End Summary** Topics: movie review Oscar Pluto Cillian Murphy Liam Neeson Neil Jordan Transamerica Swank Kitten
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. As someone who has 5,000+ high end clients who are interested in jobs and careers, I paid attention Tuesday when I came across a story about six-figure incomes by Laura Morsch of CareerBuilder.com.

According to Laura Morsch and the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics, "physician jobs dominate the list of the nation's highest-paying positions, holding 9 of the top 10 most lucrative jobs."

Morsch reminds us that there are other high-paying jobs in our economy.

"Although statistically more education means better pay," says Morsch, "you can land a very high-paying job with just a bachelor's degree and considerable work experience."

She then goes on to list these 9 examples: Chief Executive at $140,000, Airline Pilot at $135,000, Dentist at $134,000, Lawyer at $111,000, Air Traffic Controller at $106,000, Engineering Manager at $105,000, Computer and Information Systems Manager at $102,000, Marketing Manager at $102,000 and Astronomer at $101,000.

I have clients making six-figure incomes in all of Morsch's examples, however, you need more than a bachelor's degree to realistically become a Dentist, Lawyer or an Astronomer; **End Summary** Topics: jobs careers earnings pay employment degrees diplomas wages income bachelor\'s college
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. A lot of us remember our mother, and for good reason.

Should someone pose the same question to me that I have asked of you, I would never hesitate to talk about the most important person in my life, my mother.

I had two fathers, one that left when I was only a month old (he was not sure I was his son, and so he divorced my mom), and one that arrived when I was 5 (he had a 40-word vocabulary, 20 of which were cuss words). I did not realize until much later that he did not know several foreign languages (he actually did know cuss words in at least three languages).

It might be sad to admit that I have no idea who my father is, but in the greater scheme of things, it does not really matter all that much because he was never a part of my life.

My mother was.

Both of my fathers provided examples of what not to do when being a husband, father and role model. Given the circumstances, one becomes what one sees, or one makes it a point to never become what one sees. **End Summary** Topics: mother mom role model influence self-improvement movie star famous rich saint reward
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. National Treasure – 3 Stars (Good)

It took an inordinately long time for movie land to bring us a modern day treasure hunt worth watching, but Director Jon Turteltaub delivered big time in National Treasure, the story of a secret treasure that crosses the centuries.

National Treasure is the story of a vast bounty that continues to grow and change hands throughout time until confiscated by the Knights Templar as early as the 11th Century during the Crusades. The Knights Templar become the modern day Masons.

Eventually the treasure finds its way to our shores, and our founding fathers, several of whom were Masons, hide the treasure to help finance the Revolutionary War against the British.

Then the treasure was lost and six generations of the Gates Family carry on a search to prove its existence, the last of which is Ben Gates (Nicolas Cage). Gates is joined by sidekick Riley Poole (Justin Bartha), Patrick Gates (Jon Voight as Ben's father) and Abigail Chase (Diane Kruger). **End Summary** Topics: movie review Oscar Cage Voight Kruger Declaration Independence national treasure film National Treasure
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Boys Don't Cry – 1 Star (Terrible)

How can a film produce an Oscar winning Best Actress performance and a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination and still be a terrible movie?

Easy, just fail to deliver an important message involving understanding and knowledge when you have millions of moviegoers who are glued to your presentation.

Give Kimberly Peirce credit for tackling an extremely controversial subject in Boys Don't Cry, the true life story of Brandon Teena, a transgendered teen who was born a woman named Teena Brandon that preferred life as a male until it was discovered that "he" was born female.

To say that this is a disturbing and powerful film is much more than an understatement when Brandon's biological identity becomes known, the script gives us an all too familiar scenario of events: betrayal, humiliation, rape and murder.

Please, Kimberly Peirce, if there is to be a subsequent controversial movie in the offing, do not repeat this scenario as it only reinforces all of the stereotypes, prejudices, bigotry, stupidity and transphobia already present in our society and culture. **End Summary** Topics: Boys Don\'t Cry Hilary Swank Chloe Sevigny Clint Eastwood lesbian gay transgender community
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing.

Michigan State University has a football history of folding when it counts. In recent years they seem to win early in the season and then raise losing to an art form when it really matters. Those days may be over starting this fall.

By unloading John L. Smith and hiring Mark Dantonio as their new head football coach, the Spartans have put themselves in a position to perform better than any time since the legendary Duffy Daugherty coached Michigan State to a combined 19-1-1 record in 1965 and 1966, winning back-to-back Big Ten and National Championships.

The reason is simple: Dantonio is a winner from a pedigree that screams success.

He does not have to talk about what he is going to do as Michigan State's new coach because he, unlike so many others, has already done a lot of significant winning in support roles under Nick Saban, Jim Tressel and Earle Bruce, all winners and outstanding football coaches.

To say Michigan State has been in the dumper since Duffy Daugherty left in 1972 is being kind. In 34 seasons, the Spartans have been barely above .500. **End Summary** Topics: Michigan State University MSU Mark Dantonio John L.
Nick Saban: A Great College Football Coach Who Might Bring Alabama Back to Greatness

Nick Saban recently became the University of Alabama football coach by signing the richest contract ever awarded to a college football coach.

His 8-year, $32 million deal with the Crimson Tide has a base salary of $225,000 that will be supplemented by a personal services fee of $3.275 to $3.975 million per year. College football supporters are awash with money for winners who they believe can put their team on top.

Saban's deal does not include a buyout clause if he leaves, but it does cap public appearances at 15 per year (for alumni and booster clubs) that are unrelated to endorsements.

The contract also has incentives that could generate another $650,000 for on-field and academic success with his players. One biggie is $200,000 if he reaches the BCS championship game and escalates to $400,000 if Alabama wins.

Saban also gets a country club membership, two cars, a luxury box at Bryant-Denny Stadium and up to 25 hours of yearly flight time for personal travel in a non-commercial plane.

Ah, it is good to be Nick Saban in Alabama today. **End Summary** Topics: Nick Saban Alabama Crimson Tide Michigan State Spartans LSU SEC Don James Dawgfather MSU
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles with Analysis and Commentary on 5 Subjects: Sports, Movie Reviews, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, and Internet Marketing. Dr. Peter D'Adamo also addresses the personality question by saying that Os carry a genetic memory of strength, endurance, self-reliance, daring, intuition and innate optimism. All of those qualities I possess as well as being a risk taker.

I would be the last person in the world to be happy working as hired help for a major corporation, or as a bureaucrat in a public service position, or in the military as a volunteer soldier. I am a Vietnam Veteran but I would never have been a career military person.

I figured out real quick in life that if you have any intelligence, talent, creativity, productivity and especially integrity, you will find it much harder to progress and prosper if you are not self-employed in your own business.

I answer to myself first, last and always. Type Os like me are stable, reliable, dependable, responsible and accountable for their actions. If I screw up, I admit it, self-correct and get on with being successful. This could be why Type Os are known as loners.

Supplements can also be important. **End Summary** Topics: running aspirin penicillin wheat flour high fructose corn syrup D'Adamo Coca-Cola body weight
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing.
Running - How Popular Running Magazines Are Constantly Giving Very Poor Diet Advice - Part 4

Running magazines are great for recommending one-type-fits-all diets for runners, but they are dead wrong and their O blood type readers who follow their advice will not benefit from their recommendations.

I used to swear by the advice of running magazines, and now I swear at their diet advice, especially regarding diets for runners.

Editors of popular, nationally known running magazines simply do not understand or acknowledge the correlation between blood types and their food reactions; if they did, they would amend and expand their advice to runners of different blood types about what they should be eating.

I know, I tried and I failed. All I did was gain more weight as I ran more and more miles to lose weight. No wonder I was frustrated and unhappy with my excess weight gain.

I have sworn off all wheat products and simple sugars found in cane or beet sugar (sucrose), and I am dropping weight and feeling much better. Natural complex sugars found in honey and fruits (fructose) are OK.

Because I am a Type O I also learned that Type O stomachs are more acidic than alkaline. **End Summary** Topics: running sucrose frutose acidic alkaline pH factor diet weight D'Adamo O positive blood win
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing. Even creepier is this fact: Gluten, the most common lectin found in wheat and other grains, binds to the lining of the small intestine, causing substantial inflammation and painful irritation in some blood types-especially Type O.

Yikes! This is serious business for all O positive blood types and especially runners because what is binding to the small intestines eventually turns to fat.

Type O blood types thrive on intense physical exercise and animal protein. According to Dr. D'Adamo, the digestive tracts of all Type Os retain the memory of ancient times.

The profile of an O blood type person (know as The Hunter) is a meat eater with a hardy digestive tract who has an overactive immune system, is intolerant to dietary and environmental adaptations, responds best to stress with intense physical exercise, and requires an efficient metabolism to stay lean and energetic. This is a perfect description of me, an O positive blood type.

The high-protein hunter-gatherer diet and the enormous physical demands placed on the systems of early Type Os probably kept most primitive humans in a mild state of ketosis, says D'Adamo, a condition in which the body's metabolism is altered. **End Summary** Topics: running weight fat blood types Atkins D'Adamo metabolism lectins diet protein ketosis
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing. Unlike Dr. Robert Atkins and his low-carb diet plan, Dr. Peter D'Adamo's clinical findings have not yet been validated and popularized on a national level, and this is why so few people are even aware of the connection between your blood type, your diet and your health.

Dr. Atkins' research and diet plan were denounced nationally by the mainstream medical research community and physicians alike for years.

Only today do the same critics, some 30 years later, reluctantly admit that Dr. Atkins was right about his diet of eating more protein and fats and less carbohydrates.

Dr. D'Adamo's findings are critical to understanding why Americans have become some of the most unhealthy and overweight people in the world. An inordinate amount of our children are walking about today as examples of obesity before they are even teenagers.

When you know that there are more O blood types than any other type, you can then better appreciate the extent of our problem.

This article cannot address all of the issues involved, but I will focus specifically on runners who are an O positive blood type and why is it so difficult for them to lose weight. **End Summary** Topics: running weight loss blood types Atkins D'Adamo metabolism lectins diet protein ketosis
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing. As a high school, college, master's and senior competitive runner, I used to often wonder why it was so difficult to lose extra weight as I grew older. Now I know why.

The scientific facts I am about to share with you are only intended for runners who are trying to shed extra pounds, and who are an O blood type. I know a lot about O positive blood types because I am one.

If your blood type is A, B or AB, then what I am sharing here may be the exact opposite for you, and therefore the knowledge I share should not be implemented by you unless you are an O positive or O negative blood type, and you have first consulted with your personal physician.

Believe it or not, your blood type is a more reliable measure of your identity than race, culture, or geography. It is a genetic blueprint for who you are, and a guide to how you can live most healthfully. Your blood type is older than your race and more fundamental than your ethnicity. **End Summary** Topics: running weight loss blood types O A. Earlier this year Craig Biggio of the Houston Astros became the 27th player in major league history to get 3,000 career hits. Another 84 players have 2,500 career hits.

If it were easy to get 3,000 hits, many players would have done it, however, three factors stand in the way:

1) Injuries. Players like Ken Griffrey Jr. would have many more career homers than his current 590 were it not for his injuries.

After moving to the Cincinnati Reds from the Seattle Mariners, Griffey had four injury-prone seasons during which he hit 22, 8, 13 and 20 homers per season. Take away those 4 years from his 19-year career and Griffey averages 35 dingers a season. Without injuries he would have 665 career homers at this point.

2) Longevity. The majority of players have an 8 to 10-year major league career. Only a rare player could average 200 hits a season, and even at that, he would have to play 15 seasons to get 3,000 hits.

Biggio, who is playing his 20th season, has been with the Houston Astros his entire career. **End Summary** Topics: baseball MLB records Craig Biggio Pete Rose 3 000 hits Ty Cobb Ken Griffey Jr. Hall of Fame
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing. A day prior to Tom Glavine's historic 300th career victory, Barry Bonds hit his 755th homer to tie Hank Aaron's career mark, and Alex Rodriguez became the youngest player in major league history to hit his 500th homer.

Bonds' record-tying Jimmy Jack (homer) was a 382-foot opposite field smash off San Diego Padre pitcher Clay Hensley in an away game.

When Bonds tied Hank Aaron with 755 homers, he had played in 343 less games than Aaron and had 2,596 less at bats.

Bonds would break Aaron's record on August 7, 2007 with a 435-foot home run into the right-center field bleachers off Mike Bacsik of the Washington Nationals. His homer came on a 3-2 count.

At the time he achieved his record, Bonds had hit homers off of 447 different pitchers.

In addition to the new home run record, Bonds also holds the major league career records for walks with 2,540 and intentional walks with 679.

He holds the all-time single season major league records for most home runs (73), on base percentage (.609), slugging percentage (.863), and walks (232). **End Summary** Topics: baseball MLB records milestones Hank Aaron Barry Bonds A-Rod Ken Griffey Jr.
It has been a year of milestones for Major League Baseball.

From Tom Glavine to Barry Bonds to Alex Rodriguez to Craig Biggio the records have been piling up like poker chips in a major tournament.

Tom Glavine of the New York Mets has arguably the most prestigious record so far, notching his 300th career win on August 5, 2007 with an 8-3 victory over Lou Piniella's Chicago Cubs in an away game at Wrigley Field.

The historic win was Glavine's 10th this year against 6 losses.

Glavine won 242 of his victories pitching 16 seasons for the Atlanta Braves, and he has won the last 58 after coming to the New York Mets as a free agent in 2003. He is in his 21st season and is one of baseball's winningest pitchers in the National League.

Glavine is a five-time 20-game winner and a two-time Cy Young Award winner, and is one of only 23 pitchers in major league history to earn 300 career wins.

He is also only the 5th left hander among the 23 300-game winners. **End Summary** Topics: Baseball - Tom Glavine Barry Bonds Alex Rodriguez and Craig Biggio All Reach Milestones - Part 1
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on 6 Subjects: Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing. Pride and Prejudice 1 Star (Terrible)

Pride and Prejudice is another retelling of Jane Austin's novel set in 19th Century England about a mother trying to marry off her 5 daughters to prosperous gentlemen callers.

Unfortunately for Jane Austin and this viewer, the movie was an English presentation, which means the sound is so bad you could hardly hear lines at critical times, the script adaptation was fractured (the British love to do this as it makes the movie seem cryptic, they so love cryptic, no one else does, but they revel in it), and about 80% of the movie appeared artificial (many crowd scenes without a purpose and speaking lines while walking down the road with noise all around).

What is it with the British? They too often make films you cannot hear, and the technical flaws and lack of attention take center stage in what should be a showpiece in a classic like Pride and Prejudice.

This 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice is forgettable to me, except for two scenes, saved by Keira Knightly, who was nominated for a Best Actress Oscar but did not win; **End Summary** Topics: movie review Oscar Knightly Sandler Hackman Aniston Farley Saturday Night Live Austin
About the Author:
Ed Bagley is the Author of Ed Bagley's Blog which he Publishes with Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on Movies, Sports, Lessons in Life, Jobs and Careers, News and Comment, and Internet Marketing that are intended to Delight, Inform, Educate and Motivate Readers. Do you realize that in our country you are penalized for practicing good money management habits? Think about it.

If you paid for your own college education and refused to fall into the credit card trap that uses lenders to purposely suck the financial life out of naïve students, you might graduate debt free and have no credit history.

When you want to buy a vehicle on credit or a home with a mortgage, you could not get a loan without a credit repayment history and a decent FICO credit score.

For years young adults with no credit history, limited credit history or blemished credit history have worked around the problem by having someone with good credit-usually a parent, spouse or good friend-added as an authorized user to their credit card.

Once the authorized user is added, his or her credit card payment history is added to the account, giving the original card holder a higher credit score and access to loans and better loan terms.

All of this is about to end as Fair Isaac (the developer of the FICO credit score) will create a new scoring formula to eliminate the authorized user tactic. **End Summary** Topics: free credit report credit score FICO mortgage payments loan approval monthly payments finance
About the Author:
Ed Bagley's Blog Publishes Original Articles on Current and Past Events with Analysis and Commentary on Movie Reviews, Sports, Lessons in Life, News and Comment, Jobs and Careers and Internet Marketing intended to Delight, Inform, Educate and Motivate You the Reader.
