Ah if only I could delete all those DVD's & MP3 files! But no! That's not possible. So when your computer comes to the end of its days, when your requirement exceeds what your computer can offer you, what do you do? Do you just toss it away?

Laptop Battery Life - 3 Easy Ways to Prolong Your Battery Life

At this point in the 21st century, Computers are an indispensable part of many people's lives. From the commuting business executive and the college student, we all want to be mobile with our computers. The big drawback of that is the fact that there is not always a electrical socket around when you need one. A laptop computer's battery is its life-blood. Without proper care, your computer battery could fail much earlier than at first thought. By following a few simple steps, you can be sure to get the maximum amount of usage possible out of your laptop battery before a replacement is needed.
1. When purchased, charge the battery to full capacity. Whether you have purchased a new computer or have purchased a new battery for your laptop, charging it fully as soon as you open the box is the best recommendation. This allows the battery to reach a full capacity before you begin to use it "unplugged". Most batteries come with a partial charge, enough to get you started if you absolutely had to. **End Summary** Topics: DefaultValue@ThisisdefaultValue.usersshouldfillininformation.com
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the new age technology laptop computers.

Computer Security For The Home
This is about securing your home desktopcomputers and networks.

The goal of computer security is to keep unauthorized users from accessing your resources. This can be anything from your computer ,printer or even your web cam. Detection is another important thingthat should be monitored as well.

"Should i worry"

Maybe you shouldn’t. If you are concerned about any of your files or the possibility of losing them, then you should care. There is also online banking that many people use with their accounts. Malicious users can also use your computer to launch attacks against other networks, or put files on your computer as a means of storage. Even if you have the computer just to send emails to friends and realtives don’t think that you are not a high risk. Attackers like to hide their tracks by jumping through multiple locations of your computer. Malicious users can take over your webcam and watch and even listen to you!

Identity theft is huge right now. Your credit report should be reviewed frequently. Identity thieves can gain allot of information from your home computers. FTC said there are approximately over 10 million victims a year. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the new age technology laptop computers.

Computer hardware cleaning

Computers, as appose to other electric or electronic devices, are not maintenance free. Quite the reverse, it needs periodically hardware cleaning. This will not only give your computer top performance, but will also prevent many unforeseen computer breakdowns,

The obvious reason is, after we use the computer for 6 – 12 months depending on the environment, it will have a thick layer of dust sitting on it. This happens even when we position our computer in a clean room. The computer parts in my own house always collect a fair amount of dust.

It would, therefore, be advisable to give your computer a clean up once every 6 months or so. But before we do it, we must do some preparation. First, get a piece of paper, a pen, screw driver, brush and a small can of spray that clean the metal parts of the electronic circuit.

When we are ready, unplug the computer completely and take only the case out to a well ventilated area. Open the case and take note of what you will be doing below (This is important to help you put it back correctly).

A Top 10 List That Can Save Your notebook

Many who read this article may find these recommendations to be old news. However, think about the number of family, and friends that ask you for help fixing their computer and this may give them a bit of an aid

This list of recommendations for a healthy & secure computer is by no means a complete list of all you can and should do. It is however a good start if you want to keep your computer running good for an acceptable period of time. It will also help stop some of the most common issues related to PC security.

1. Virus & Spyware :

The big one; make sure you have installed some sort of anti-virus and spyware protection. Don’t just assume that the default configuration of the program is the one best suited for your pc. For instance, I can’t tell you how many people I know whose computer has got a serious virus because of just one minor but very important task. When the anti-virus software pops up a message and tells you that your subscription is about to expire, don’t just hit the ignore button. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the new age technology laptop computers.

Safe Shopping Online

Do you enjoy cruising the Internet for bargains and great deals which are available? If you are like many canny shoppers, you take the time to use the Internet to research your purchases and to look for the best price. While performing online searches and shopping online can save you a great deal of cash, it is important for you to use caution when shopping so you can keep yourself and your money protected.

The first thing you need to do when shopping online is to make sure you are shopping on a website with a secure connection. You can easily tell if the website has a secure connection by looking at the web address. All web addresses start with http, but a secure website will start with https. Notice the “s” following the http. If you don’t see an “s,” you should give this site a wide berth.

Completing a transaction on a site that is not secure will put you at risk for having your personal information stolen and/or copied. This is because anyone can access the information that is put on the site. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the new age technology laptop computers www.discount-notebooks.net

IS A EXTENDED GARUANTEE WORTHWHILE

Should you buy an extended warranty with your notebook? You may not want to think about it now, but sooner or later, something is going to go wrong with your notebook. When it does happen, the main question will be who gets stuck with the bill, you or the maker.

The standard (free) garauntee on a new laptop is usually around the 90 day mark. That probably doesn’t seem like alot when you consider how long you expect to own your laptop. What happens when your laptop busts on the 91st day?

First of all, even if your laptop only includes a 90-day warranty (and assuming you’ve purchased a well known make), the chances of your notebook dying on the 91st day are very, very slim.

Manufacturers don’t offer a 90-day warranty with the expectation that their item will malfunction shortly thereafter. A shorter warranty is likely, at least in part, to be a sales gimmick to push you towards an extended warranty.

All major laptop manufacturers offer a long menu of extended warranty options, each menu item with its own price tag. The two biggest components that factor into the cost of an extended warranty are duration and locality. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting ahead with the new age technology

IS A LAPTOP BETTER THAN A DESK TOP ?

Is a laptop better than a desk top
why would i buy a desktop thats in one spot all the time ?
Naturally, a desktop computer is more powerful, expandable, and cheaper than a laptop. But you can't take carry it around with you, because the leads wont reach and its rather heavy

On the other hand, you could be sitting in a pub garden or a trendy coffee shop, having a drink while pouring over your e-mail and chatting on a mobile phone - now that's the way to go.

Why you need a laptop
Basically you want a laptop for one of the following reasons:

As your main computer

Why bother about saving money with a desktop when you really want the portability of a laptop?
A desktop computer can't pretend to be a laptop, but a laptop can certainly pretend being a desktop: You can use a full-sized keyboard and monitor with your laptop. You can also connect any number of desktop peripherals such as a printer, scanner, external hard drive, and so on. But, unlike a desktop system, you're free to disconnect the laptop and take it with you whenever you want.

As a space-saving computer system; **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David was in the engineering field through to government, now getting ahead with the new age technology

In these recession times everyone is looking for a bargain therefore, you'll find no shortage of deals on the Internet.

And that's particularly true in the fast-changing world of notebook computers, where you'll find three bargain sources right at your fingertips:

1. Clearance Sales

Just like many major retail stores, many computer manufacturers websites have clearance sections. On these pages, you can find great deals on last year's left overs.

These are all new products (unless otherwise stated) and carry their original warranties. The only difference is that the price has been reduced.

Of course the manufacturers aren't the only ones with clearance merchandise.

Major electronics and office supply retailers also have clearance sections on their websites, where you may be able to find the laptop bargain of your dreams.

2. Refurbished Laptop Retailors

Factory refurbs represent another great bargain chance. It works something like this:

Joe Bloggs buys a new computer, but decides a week later he doesn't like the colour.
He takes it back to the shop within the store's stated return period, so the shop is stuck with it. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting ahead with the new age technology

Tired of the high cost of printing? You’re not on your own, Many consumers are . For example, they believe paying £20 per ink cartridge for printer ink and £70 to £150 (or more) for a toner cartridge is far too much.

Most of the big printer manufacturers have adopted the similar marketing strategy as the razor blade & mobile phone industry. Simply stated, they sell you the printer for cost or less in order to sell you printer ink and toner cartridges at stupid markups. In many cases, they charge seven to ten times what it costs to produce these products.

In addition, these major companies spend thousands of pounds advertising to convince you to purchase only their products. They strongly criticize printer ink and toner cartridges offered by third party companies. However, did you know that many of these leading companies are now selling their own recycled cartridges… and you’re still paying full retail price for them!.

With the start of online marketing, consumers have more choices than ever. There are a large number of reputable companies that sell printer ink and toner cartridges at terrific savings. It is very common to save 50-85% when purchasing your printer supplies. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the new age technology

Help in Choosing Your Next Computer

The time has come for a change, your desk top computer has outlived its usefulness with its slow loading applications.

Searching for that Perfect Computer can be about as frustrating as searching for a childrens dvd at blockbuster.

For starters you’ll need to work out what you want from your computer. Are you a"game" man or are you someone who likes to just surf the internet and occasionally do some book keeping with simple word processing software?

If you’re into video games you’re going to want a machine that can handle the high level of graphics and superior sound quality. On the other hand if you’re not into all that kind of thing you can probably get by with a less expensive system,.Although you may have to spend more in the future on up-grading it

There are two basic routes you can take when purchasing a new computer.

1) Purchase a "recognised" Name" Computer 2) Purchase a "Clone" Computer

A “BRAND-NAME” computer is one that is manufactured by a company that is recognizable by name. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David was in the engineering field through to government, now getting up to speed with the 21st century technology

Personal Computers:

Before deciding buying one, it will be better to think about the features and basic requirements of either type. You have to decide about certain factors like:

• The interest on hardware upgrades in near future

Whether you have an interest to upgrade your system or not. If yes think desktop, you can have step by step upgrades in future. If not, make a trail over laptops, there are very few chances to upgrade them. Instead of upgrading you may replace the older parts.

• The budget

Budget is an essential factor to be considered before deciding wether a desktop or laptop. The price will be some what different between the two. You can get a desktop immediately with the affordable prices. But for laptops you have to pay a little more.

• The place where you want to use your computer

This is the major factor in my own personal choice of computer, suppose if you want to use your system in a permanent place, your choice must be desktop. Conversely you are engaged mostly in travel, and then go for laptops. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories dell verizon toshiba acer compaq
About the Author:
David has been in the engineering field through to government, now getting ahead with the new age technology

Did I choose the best laptop ?

Keys to choosing the best laptop computer :

Who is the laptop user? When choosing a laptop computer, it is important to understand who will be using it.., school student, college student, professional businessman ,office worker, etc.

Where will the laptop be used? For heavy mobile users such as college students and professionals, size, weight and battery life are very important. So when looking over the reviews and relevant specs, keep those factors in mind. The average high school student uses a laptop from room to room in their house, and have loads of access to AC power most of the time. So for these users, the factors listed above may not be as critical.

How will the laptop be used? The more mobile the user, the more durability is needed. Heavy users ie sales reps spend a great deal of time start and shutting down their laptops every day. an average heavy user will open and shut their laptop computer 5 times a day. Although that may not seem alot of wear and tear, there is also the issue of general handling. **End Summary** Topics: laptops notebooks computers accessories www.discount-notebooks.net
About the Author:
laptops www.discount-notebooks.net
