Out in the Cold

One of the very best memories I have ever had as a person involved a wind shirt, of all things. I was just out of college, and my father needed my help at his job we worked in similar fields, and it is not at all difficult to make the leap from my expertise to his. Being his little girl (who adored being around her father, no matter how grown up she happens to be), I happily agreed to his request and I tagged along to his office. It was December, and it was very, extremely cold. Being my mother's daughter, I hardly ever bought anything that looked even the slightest bit tacky on me (my mother and I are hardly trendy; we simply know what looks good on us and what does not) and that wasn't exactly helping me at that point. My mother has always been one of the most efficient shoppers we have ever known she never buys, she purchases, and always for a bargain, within the shortest amount of time possible for that particular excursion. Whatever we need to have purchased gifts, airline tickets, and the like she can purchase, even under short notice. We used to think that it was more of a talent than anything else. My mother most certainly did make it all seem so effortless and whatnot. But she always told us that it started out as a habit that eventually became a skill.
