Top 7 Tips To Take Supplements without Getting Taken

Walk down the supplement aisle at most health food stores, pharmacies and, increasingly, supermarkets, and it is almost impossible not to feel overwhelmed by the dozens sometimes hundreds of brands and combinations. Should you select a multivitamin/mineral combination or a dozen bottles of single-nutrient supplements or a multi plus a few additional singles? Should you buy natural supplements or synthetic? Regular or timed-release? A store brand or a national brand? Tablets or capsules? If so, how much more? Energy formula? Stress formula? Womenâ€'s formula or menâ€'s? It is such a hassle, there are so many brands and so many combinations. The choices are confusing, and few consumers know much about what they are buying. As a result, they often spend much more than necessary for supplements that may not meet their needs. Fortunately, you can take supplements without getting taken. Here is what I can advise.

1.	Look For An Expiration Date

An expiration date is no guarantee of freshness, but it suggests that the packager understands that vitamins have a finite shell life. Steer clear of supplements within six to nine months of their expiration dates. **End Summary** Topics: Supplements vitamins
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 5 Vision Therapy Exercises

Vision therapy recommend more than 200 different eye exercises and often administer them with simple aids: glasses with different-coloured lenses, eye patches, bullâ€'s-eye targets and beaded strings. What follows are simple vision therapy exercises that anyone can do at home.

1.	Call The Ball

Write letters or numbers of various sizes on a softball, kickball or soccer ball. Hang it from the ceiling on a string and give it a push in any direction. As it swings, call out the letters or numbers you see. The Optometric Extension Program Foundation markets dozens of visual exercise items, from low-tech flashcards aimed at day care children to sophisticated computer systems for behavioural optometrists who specialize in athletic eye/hand coordination. If you like to delve deeper into vision improvement, contact the OEP for a catalog or a referral to a behavioural optometrist near you.

2.	Follow Your Thumb

Several times each day, hold your thumbs out at armâ€'s length and move it in slow circles, crosses, Xs and in-and-out motions. Without moving your head, follow it with your eyes. Keep it and the rest of the room in focus as much as possible.

3.	Palming

This helps relax tired eyes. **End Summary** Topics: Vision therapy eyes
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 7 Tips To Treat Eye Conditions Using Vision Therapy

Unfortunately, few people have ever heard of vision therapy. It is the best kept secret in eye care. The few people who know anything about it think it is the Bates Method. But Bates is outdated. This method only focus on the eye muscles. Today, we know, in addition, vision therapy works by retraining the way the brain processes visual imagery. It is more like visual biofeedback than vision callisthenics. Using todayâ€'s methods, we get better, more permanent results than Bates did. Todayâ€'s vision therapy helps treat many vision-impairing eye conditions. Here are some of the tips you can consider to treat your eye conditions.

1.	Traumatic Brain Injury

Some people who sustain head injuries in auto or other accidents largely recover, except that they experience blurred or double vision. They are often told they have to live with it, but vision therapy can often help them see better.

2.	Athletic Performance

Keep your eye on the ball is standard advice in baseball, basketball, tennis, volleyball and many other sports. The problem is that sometimes even world-class athletes canâ€'t do it well enough to remain competitive. With the help of vision therapy, they can. **End Summary** Topics: Vision therapy eyes
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 7 Tips To Go Organic

In the light of these studies, it is surprising that few studies have compared the health consequences of eating organic and conventionally grown produce. Any fruits and vegetables are better than none. In a study, those who ate the fewest plant foods had the highest cancer rates, and those who ate the most produce had the least cancer. Most pesticides are fat-soluble. If you eat plants that have been treated with them, you ingest a tiny amount of residue that accumulates in your fatty tissues, such as female breast tissue. But the real problem develops when you eat animal fat. Food animals accumulate pesticides in their fat tissues throughout their lives. By the time people eat them, they have much higher levels than any of the feed plants they ate. When people eat meat, they consume most of the pesticides the animals ate. The higher up the food chain you eat, the more toxic chemicals you ingest. The cleanest produce is organic. Even organically grown fruits, vegetables, grains and beans may pick up some pesticide contamination because of chemicals in groundwater, in the air from neighbouring nonorganic farms or from fumigation of trucks and warehouses. **End Summary** Topics: Organic foods produce fruits vegetables
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
How High-Fat Diets Hurt

After smoking, a high-fat diet is the second most lethal habit. According to a report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, smoking causes 400,000 deaths a year. High-fat diets cause 300,000. Several more highly publicized social evils are comparatively small problems: alcohol (100,000 deaths), guns (35,000), auto accidents (25,000) and drug abuse (20,000). These statistics in no way minimize the tragedies of alcoholism, murder or drug addiction. But they provide a perspective on what is really like killing us. If this sounds a bit extreme, consider the dangers of dietary fat and judge for yourself.

High blood pressure. High blood pressure is a major risk factor for heart disease and stroke. A high-fat diet contributes to this condition because it adds extra pounds. As weight increases, the heart must work harder to pump blood through all the extra tissue. As the heartâ€'s effort increases, so does blood pressure.

Diabetes. Diabetes contributes to an estimated 250,000 deaths a year. It involves an inability to metabolize blood sugar because of problems with the pancreatic hormone, insulin. In Type I (insulin-dependent) diabetes, the pancreas stops producing insulin. **End Summary** Topics: High-fat diet heart attack
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 5 Conditions To Get Heal With Light Therapy

Shakespeare called the eyes the window to the soul.” Increasingly, doctors are calling them a window to treating a remarkable variety of health problems with light. For years, sunlight has been a standard treatment for psoriasis, the poorly understood inflammatory condition that causes the skin thickening and eruption of red, scaly patches. But recently, light therapy has been used successfully to treat several other ailments.

1.	Prolonged Menstrual Cycles

The typical menstrual cycle lasts about a month, but some women extend up to twice as long. Long cycles might be an advantage for some women less premenstrual syndrome, for example but for women trying to have children, long cycles limit opportunities for conception. In a pilot study, women were exposed to the light of a 100-watt light bulb while they slept. The women slept with the light on for five nights near the middle of their extended cycles, and the cycles became shorter. It does not know why this treatment works, but it is believed that the light affects regulation of female sex hormones. If so, phototherapy might one day be used to treat some cases of infertility.

Top 7 Tips To Choose Healing Herbs For Your Conditions

Those who use over-the-counter and prescription pharmaceuticals always know how much medicine they are taking because FDA regulations require precision. People who use herbs face more of a challenge. However, in controlled doses, herbs cause fewer side effects than pharmaceuticals. Pharmaceuticals are highly concentrated, and pills and capsules have little taste, factors that make it easy to overdose. The active constituents in herbs are typically less concentrated, and most taste quite bitter, which discourages taking too much. Once you decide you want to use herbs, you are still left with some key questions. Which herbs? And how do you use them? Here is a list of common safe and effective herbs to choose from, along with some information about the conditions they treat that you can consider.

1.	Ephedra

In addition to its decongestant value, Chinese ephedra has a long history of use in Asia as a coffeelike stimulant. Recent studies have also shown that ephedra boosts metabolic rate the speed at which the body burns calories. As a result, it has shown some benefit as a weight-loss aid, but only in those who are significantly overweight. **End Summary** Topics: Healing herbs heart attack blood pressure
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.

Across the northern United States, members of polar bear clubs” delight in swimming in frigid oceans, lakes, and streams every winter. There is no better way to start off a new year. Most Americans, on the other hand, view voluntary immersion in cold water as odd, if not crazy. Well, score one for the polar bears. Cold baths can be quite therapeutic.

1.	Muscle Soreness And Joint Injuries

Baseball pitchers do it. Basketball and football players do it. After they leave the game, they often slap a bag of ice on their arms, legs or major joints. Athletic trainers believe that icing helps prevent muscle soreness and joint injuries by controlling the swelling caused by minor damage to muscle cells and ligament and tendon fibers. If ice is not available or does not seem to do the trick, trainers recommend a heat treatment.

2.	Low Sperm Count

Because heat kills sperm, researchers wondered if cooling the scrotum might increase sperm quality. In one study, 64 infertile men were fitted with special underwear that kept their scrotums unusually cool. After 16 weeks, more than two-thirds showed improved semen quality. **End Summary** Topics: Cold baths cold water
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Okay, you are committed. You have gone public and recruited a few buddies. You know what triggers your binges, and you have devised ways to avoid them. You have successfully maintained your habit without allowing it to get worse. Now it is time to get serious about change. Here are some additional steps and tips that you can consider to take.

1.	Grieve The Loss Of Your Old Self

Once you have begun to transform your bad habit into a good one, it is time to bid farewell to the old you. Remember leaving home? You felt excited, but you knew you miss your family and friends. Losing weight or making other life changes has the same bittersweet quality. Give yourself a chance to grieve over the loss of your old lifestyle even though you know it was bad for you. It is easier to open a new chapter in life when the previous one is really closed.

Top 5 Conditions To Get Heal With Heat

Few activities feel more relaxing than an interlude in a hot bath, hot tub or sauna. Since 1969, when backyard inventor Roy Jacuzzi of Walnut Creek, California, added air jets to an old grape press and created the first Jacuzzi hot tub, bathing has emerged from the privacy of the bathroom and returned to what it was in ancient Rome a way to combine relaxation with socializing. But hot baths do more than help us destress. Studies show that heat treatments have many healing benefits.

1.	Muscle Soreness

Muscle aches often develop from minor overexertion. That is because the muscles involved have not been sufficiently conditioned to tolerate the extra demand placed on them, and the unexpected load damages some muscle cells. The damage triggers stiffness and the dull, aching soreness that begins within a few hours of the activity and may last for a day or two. Heat can help relieve the discomfort in two ways. It opens superficial blood vessels, increasing circulation to stressed muscles. This extra blood carries oxygen and several components of the immune systemâ€'s cellular repair kit that speed healing of injured cells. In addition, pain contributes to anxiety, which makes the pain worse. **End Summary** Topics: Hot baths saunas heat
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 7 Tips To Take Initial Steps Towards Healthy Habits

Perhaps the biggest inner fear that keeps people from breaking bad habits is fear of failure. Every long-term dieter feels burned by all the diets that did not work, so they are sceptical about trying again. It is recommended to view the weight-loss attempts not as successes or failures but rather as experiments. Think about what you have learned along the way. Analyze what you did right and what you need to do differently next time. For most people, major life changes take several tries. As you consider your emotional readiness for change, take some small but concrete steps in the right direction.

1.	Use Natureâ€'s Cures

Bad habits reflect a loss of self-control. Incorporate a few of Natureâ€'s cures into your life to foster self-control and combat the feelings of stress and inner emptiness that lead to many bad habits. Try biofeedback, cognitive therapy, companionship, exercise, low-fat eating, meditation, sleep, tai chi, and chi gong, vegetarianism, visualization, guided imagery and self-hypnosis, walking or yoga.

2.	Distinguish Between Ordinary And Extraordinary Stress

People who are not ready to take change always find reasons not to try. **End Summary** Topics: Life change bad habits
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Why donâ€'t we laugh more often? Mainly because we have learned not to. Parents and teachers spend a good deal of time telling children, Wipe that smile off your face”; Get serious”; Settle down”; and Stop acting silly.” In addition, laughter requires both spontaneity and surrender of control. As people become adults, they place a good deal of value on self-control and often feel ambivalent about spontaneity. But a mature adult should also understand the need for levity now and then. When Steven Spielberg was filming the holocaust movie Schindlerâ€'s list, he became so saddened by his subject that a few times a week while on location in Poland, he called comedian Robin Williams and asked him to run through some stand-up routines. If you have a particularly funny friend, you might do the same, but if not, tickle your funny bone with the help of these tips and suggestions.

1.	Encourage Laughter

Encourage others to laugh. Mirth is contagious.

2.	Look Out For Absurdities

Keep an eye out for the absurdities of everyday of your life. Amusing quips and situations happen all the time. If you look for them, you will find them.

Nuts: They Are Good For You

Nuts derive 70 to 90 percent of their calories from fat. As a result, the crunchy, delicious morsels have been verboten for people on low-fat diets, especially those interested in preventing obesity, diabetes, heart disease and the fat-related cancers, particularly breast, colon and prostate cancer. But this view began to change in 1992, when a major study of diet and health showed that noshing buts reduced heart disease risk dramatically.

Heart disease. A study conduced on annual surveys of the diet and lifestyles of 31,000 Seventh-Day Adventists. The Seventh-Day Adventists are an unusually healthy group. They are well-educated vegetarians who typically abstain from cigarettes and alcohol. As a result, they provide a unique window into the subtle factors that make the healthy even healthier. Surprisingly, compared with Seventh-Day Adventists who ate nuts rarely, those who munched them once a week had 25 percent fewer heart attacks, and five-times-a-week nut noshers cut their risk almost in half. Peanuts, almonds and walnuts were the most heart-protective nuts. The study did not prove that eating nuts caused the reduction in heart attack, only that the two were associated. **End Summary** Topics: Nuts fats
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
When you feel bad, your thinking becomes negative. This is the ABC of emotion. ‘Aâ€' stands for the Actual event, ‘Bâ€' for your Beliefs about it and ‘Câ€' for the Consequences you experience because of their beliefs. If you can somehow prevent erroneous negative beliefs from forming around an actual event, you have gone a long way toward protecting yourself form the unnecessary negative emotions that are sure to follow from such distorted thinking. I recommend seven tips to protect yourself from negative, distorted thinking. These tips work for many unpleasant experiences, but letâ€'s use as an example a particularly unpleasant experiences, but letâ€'s use as an example a particularly unpleasant divorce. In the throes of a nasty divorce you might be tempted to believe many of the charges your ex levels against you: Youâ€'re selfish, uncaring and vindictive, and not only that, you are lousy in bed. If you buy into this picture of yourself, the consequences might well be low self-esteem and guilt, not to mention severe depression. Cognitive therapy tries to change the Bs your beliefs so you do not experience the Cs negative consequences. Hereâ€'s how to cope.

Olive Oil: Heart Protection

There is strong epidemiological evidence that olive oil offers significant cardioprotective benefits. In plain English, olive oil is good for the heart.

Heart disease. Like all vegetable oils, olive oil is 100 percent fat, and fat is a prime contributor to heart disease and cancer. So how could olive oil be good for the heart? The reason appears to be that it is neither saturated, like the fats in meats, butter, and dairy products, nor polyunsaturated, like the fat in many other oils. It is monounsaturated. Greeks and Italians consume almost as much total fat as Americans do most of it in the form of olive oil but have heart disease rates considerably lower than ours. In fact, Americans should eat like people in those Mediterranean countries. It was argued to junk the USDAâ€'s new Food Pyramid, which recommends meat and dairy products two or three times a day, and replace it with a Mediterranean Pyramid, which discourages meat and dairy foods and promotes a semi-vegetarian diet with olive oil as the major source of fat. Of course, like any fat, olive oil should be used sparingly in the context of a low-fat diet. **End Summary** Topics: Olive oil blood heart diet
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.

The value of social support has been hiding in plain sight for so long that it is amazing it took researchers so long to discover it. From the day that we are born, social support is essential to human survival. We have a more prolonged period of helplessness and dependency than any other mammal. For years, we must rely fully on our parentâ€'s physical and social skills. Thousands of years ago, humans also discovered the survival advantage of organizing themselves into clans, tribes, villages, cities, and nations. Many other animals are stronger, faster, and endowed with more acute senses. But thanks to language and symbols, we humans have a unique ability to engage in complicated interactions, advance the common good and protect ourselves from predators both animal and human. As a result, we have populated the entire habitable earth. Our clichés tell the tale: Thereâ€'s strength in numbers.” Two heads are better than one.” One for all, and all for one. **End Summary** Topics: Social support health
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Soy Foods: Cancer Fighters and More

Can tofu help prevent breast cancer? Increasingly, it looks that way. Soy foods soybeans, tofu, miso, tempeh, soy milk, soy protein and textured vegetable protein (TVP), but not soy sauce offer all the healing benefits of the other beans. In addition, they contain unusually large concentrations of chemicals isoflavones and phytosterols with cancer-preventive value. These chemicals may help account for the low rate of breast cancer among Asian women, who eat soy foods as staples.

Breast cancer. Soy isoflavones and phytosterols first came to American scientific attention at a National Cancer Institute conference in 1990. isoflavones, also known as phytoestrogens show the most powerful anti-cancer effects. They are structurally similar to the female sex hormone, and they bind to the same receptor sites on breast cells. But unlike hormonal estrogen, isoflavones and phytosterols do not spur the growth of breast tumors. When the soy chemicals bind to estrogen receptors, they prevent hormonal estrogen from doing so, which in turn prevents tumor growth. Soy foodsâ€' marked influence in estrogen metabolism was demonstrated on six women in their twenties with regular menstrual cycles add two ounces of TVP to their usual diets. **End Summary** Topics: Soy foods cancer diet
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.

Visitors to China are often amazed when they look out their hotel room windows early in the morning. In parks, squares, plazas, and schoolyards, ten of thousands of Chinese of all ages but particularly the elderly begin their days with slow, graceful, beautiful choreographed routines called tai chi chuan, generally known in the United States as tai chi. Practitioners of tai chi say that this centuries-old dancelike exercise, which is derived from the martial arts, clears the mind, relaxes the body, nourishes the spirit, increases energy and contributes to health and longevity. Over the last 20 years, tai chi has become increasingly popular in the United States both as a gentle form of meditative exercise and as a way to cope with various illnesses. One such illness is multiple sclerosis (MS), the baffling neurological disease that saps the strength and limits the mobility of an estimated 350,000 Americans, most of them women. Tai chi has not been the subject of as much scientific research as yoga, but the few studies that have been published to date point to significant health benefits, particularly for the elderly.

Top 7 Tips To Prepare Sleepy-Time Herbs

Most health-conscious people steer clear of sleeping pills because of concerns about side effects and possible addiction. But, ah, the convenience…Wouldnâ€'t it be nice if there were a little something you could take to soothe you gently into sleepiness? Actually, there is. Unlike sleeping pills, herbal sleep aids are nonaddicitive, can be used every night and cause no side effects. The amounts recommended here are for healthy adults. Pregnant women and those with medical conditions should consult a physician familiar with medicinal herbs before using these plants. Do not give these herbs to children under age 2. For older children and those over 65, start with low-strength preparations and increase strength if necessary.

1.	Valerian

When the elders of thirteenth-century Hamelin, Germany, refused to pay an itinerant flute player for ridding the town of rats, the Pied Piper used his music and the aroma of valerian to hypnotize the townâ€'s children and lure them away. Valerian has been used as a sedative/tranquilizer ever since. In one experiment, researchers gave 128 people with insomnia either 400 milligrams of valerian root extract or an inactive placebo. **End Summary** Topics: Herbs sedatives tranquilizers commercial preparations
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Tea: A Healthier Choice

Tea is one of the worldâ€'s second most popular beverage (after water), but most Americans consider it a poor second to coffee as a caffeine-laced pick-me-up or after-meal beverage. Recently, however, tea has gained new popularity, in part because of its medicinal value. A cup of tea contains only about half as much caffeine as a cup of brewed coffee, and many people prefer its taste and consider its buzz less jarring.

Cancer. Studies suggest that chemicals known as polyphenols in tea help prevent cancer. Researchers compared the diets of 900 people with esophageal cancer with those of 1,500 who did not have the cancer. The people with cancer drank significantly less green tea. The more green tea, the less cancer. In addition, green tea was added to the drinking water of experimental mice and then exposed them to chemicals known to cause a variety of tumors in rodents. The mice who drank the green-tea-laced water developed considerably fewer tumors than the mice who drank plain water. These studies prompted headlines proclaiming Green Tea Prevents Cancer.” Unfortunately, few Americans drink green tea outside of Asian restaurants; most Americans drink black tea. It has the similar effect too. **End Summary** Topics: Tea caffeine
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Meditation: Top 7 Conditions To Get Heal With Mind Power

During the two decades since the relaxation response first appeared, mediation has gone mainstream. Most people who practice it do so to reduce stress, anxiety, anger and other negative emotions. But increasingly, physicians prescribe meditation as part of the treatment for a large and growing number of medical conditions. Here are some of the conditions that mediation can help.

1.	Panic Attacks

Sometimes anxiety becomes paralyzing and people feel that they are about to suffer some horrible fate. Panic attacks are often treated with drugs, but studies show that if people who are prone to panic attacks begin focused, meditative breathing the instant they feel the first signs of an episode, they are less likely to have a full-blown panic attack.

2.	Pain Management

Anxiety decreases the threshold for pain, and pain causes anxiety. The result is a vicious cycle. Compared with people who feel relaxed, those under stress experience pain more intensely and become even more stressed, which aggravates their pain. Meditation breaks this cycle. Childbirth preparation classes routinely teach pregnant women deep breathing exercises to minimize the pain and anxiety of labor. Few call it breath meditation, but that is what it is. **End Summary** Topics: Meditation relaxation response
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
How To Recall Your Dreams

Everyone dreams. The issue is not, as Shakespeare put it in Hamlet, to sleep, perchance to dream,” but rather to dream, perchance to remember.” Some people recall their dreams vividly without any special effort. Others retain a few fleeting images or nothing at all. But no matter how well or poorly you have recalled your dreams in the past, if you like to remember them, you can. It is a simply matter of self-training. Dream recall is surprisingly easy. Here are some tips that you can consider doing it.

Donâ€'t Hold Out For The Full Picture. Cling to any dream fragments you recall and jot them down, even if they do not make a coherent story. Over time, memories of disjointed images or scenes expand into memories of entire dreams.

Capture Memories Quickly. Place a pad and pen by your bed before you retire. Whenever you wake up, jot down as much as you can remember of your dreams. The next morning, write up your notes in story form, filling in any details you did not previously jot down. **End Summary** Topics: Dreams memories
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Garlic: Powerful Protection

Garlic is one of the worldâ€'s oldest medicines, and it is still among the best. If the term wonder drug can be applied to any food, garlic deserves that distinction. Garlic appeared prominently in the worldâ€'s oldest surviving medical text, the Ebers Papyrus, written somewhere in the neighbourhood of 1500 B.C. It was an ingredient in 22 remedies for headache, insect and scorpion bites, menstrual discomforts, intestinal worms, tumors and heart problems. Modern science has validated several of these ancient prescriptions.

Cancer. Tantalizing evidence suggests garlic plays a role in preventing and treating cancer. In one study researchers separated mouse tumor cells into two groups. One was left alone. The other was treated with allicin, a major component of garlic. Then both batches of tumor cells were injected into mice. Those who received the untreated cells quickly died, but in the garlic-treated group, there were no deaths. Since then, other animal studies have shown similar results. Of course, animal findings do not necessarily apply to humans, but another study suggests that garlic helps prevent human stomach cancer. Researchers analyzed the diets of 1,800 Chinese, including 685 with stomach cancer. Those with the cancer ate considerably less garlic. **End Summary** Topics: Garlic cholesterol allicin
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Cognitive Therapy: Top 7 Tips To Feeling Better

What if negative thinking does creep in and you find yourself mired in unpleasant emotions. Then what? Cognitive therapy calls for tackling the problem using the seven easy tips. Seven tips may not sound like many, but simplicity is one of cognitive therapyâ€'s major strengths. It is quick and easy, and once people understand the basic concepts, almost anyone can practice it. Sometimes, though, cognitive therapyâ€'s very simplicity puts people off. They say that it is so simple, it canâ€'t work. In fact, they are jumping to a conclusion the fortune-telling” kind and urges them to try the tips anyway. Give it a try for any given problem and see what happens.

1.	Write Everything Down

The act of writing automatically puts some distance between you and your negative thought. Jotting things down provides perspective and helps people detect distorted thinking more easily. If you are in a situation where you just canâ€'t put pen to paper, it is recommended saying things out loud.

2.	Identify The Upsetting Event

Whatâ€'s really bothering you? Is it simply the fact that you got a flat tire? Or is it that you soiled your outfit while changing it? **End Summary** Topics: Cognitive therapy emotions thoughts
About the Author:
Raymond Lee is one of the foremost experts in the health and fitness industry and is the Founder of Bodyfixes Group specializing in body health, muscle development and dieting.
Top 5 Reasons For A Good Sleep

Yawn! Go ahead. Chances are good that you are sleepier than you think you are. You might even want to stretch luxuriously and go take a nap. Why? Chances are better that no matter what ails you, sleeping well will help you heal. Sleep deprivation is epidemic in our society. Nearly all of us need more sleep than we get. I believe a sudden wave of drowsiness should be taken as seriously as the chest pain that might signal a heart attack. Drowsiness is an urgent warning that should not be ignored, particularly in situations where dozing, inattention or impaired performance could lead to catastrophe. In such situations, stop what you are doing now and take a nap. Many cultures honor the afternoon siesta. Americans should, too. In fact, we should look beyond the headlines to the thousands of little disasters sleep deprivation causes every day. Sleepiness contributes to many car, truck, maritime and airline accidents. Prevention of thousands of motor vehicle deaths a year is a reason enough for Americans to get more sleep, but a good nightâ€'s sleep contributes to health and longevity in many other ways as well.
