         <title>Mind and Body Flexibility</title>

         <description>Jim and I spent last week in Jamaica. I was scheduled to teach yoga at a resort and Jim was going to play tennis and chill (two of his favorite things). Before we left for Jamaica I decided the topic of this article would be flexibility of the mind and body. Little did I know then how well our flexibility would be tested and how many opportunities we would have to practice it. Flexibility of the body. That's actually the easier part. If you don't use it, it starts to rust. My yoga ladies (they were 65 and older) would tell me that all the time. Most of them had very little flexibility but with a few months of yoga and basic stretching they improved their flexibility and felt better. One woman was so excited she said she was able to put her pantyhose on by herself for the first time in 20 years! A few simple stretches every day will help prevent injury, pain, reduce stress and promote health. Start with a roll of the spine or circles with the joints, just start.          <title>Live your Dream!</title>

         <description>Have you seen, or better yet, heard this guy? By day he sells mobile phones, but he has always dreamed of doing (in his words) "what he feels he was born to do." He always wanted to sing opera. So instead of just wishing, hoping and dreaming, Paul Potts mustered up an incredible amount of courage and took action.

He entered Britain's "Got Talent?" show & not only won but inspired and entered the hearts of millions. I love the clip of him walking out for his first audition and telling the judges that he was going to sing opera. Some eyebrows were raised and judgments made, but when he opened his mouth to sing he blew them all away. In this humble man's own words, "Confidence has always been a difficult thing or me.          <title>The Peaceful Warrior</title>

         <description>The previews ended and the movie was starting, or was it? Black screen and no sound. It took me awhile to realize, but I believe the director was trying to get the audience to be present. I of course was in the future, "When's something going to happen?" Being in the moment is one of many enlightened messages in the movie, The Way of the Peaceful Warrior. It was one the first books on spiritual growth that really made a difference in my life.

The story is about a chance encounter with a wise stranger that changes the life of a college gymnast, and is based on real occurrences in Dan Millman's life. Dan Millman is the author of many self-help/spiritual growth books, Peaceful Warrior being his most popular. The movie opened nationwide last weekend. I gathered eight friends and we headed out with low expectations (the critics didn't give it rave reviews). The critics are entitled to their opinions, of course, but everyone of us liked the movie. This passage from the book which is depicted in the movie is one reason why:

         <title>Self Nurture</title>

         <description>An important part of wellness and overall feeling good is Self Nurture. What is self nurture? In a nutshell, it's taking time for yourself. Wow, I can almost hear some of you yelling "Time for myself! I don't have time for myself! I'm too busy!" But if you don't take time for yourself, what quality of yourself are you offering others?

When I'm feeling overwhelmed and stressed out, my husband Jim says "Who makes your schedule." At the time it's usually an irritating reminder, but its true, who makes my schedule? I do. I choose what to prioritize and commit to. We all have busy lives but it is up to us to schedule in time for ourselves. Rest and relaxation "R&R" isn't a luxury but a necessity for physical, spiritual, and mental health.

Why is it so much easier for us to nurture others? Self sacrifice-putting your job, spouse, kids etc. first all the time serves no one in the long run. You may become resentful, angry and depleted on all levels (mind, body, and Spirit).          <description>What does the LAW OF ATTRACTION have to do with feeling good? The Law of Attraction is so huge right now. Jim and I have been familiar with this for years, and we are so excited its finally hitting the mainstream (we're such trendsetters tee hee). Brace yourself for many miracles!

What is the Law of Attraction? In a nut shell its a universal law that states what we focus on expands. In other words whatever is going on in your mind, whatever your thoughts and feelings are focused on, will be reflected in your life.

So if you are unhappy and complaining about your circumstances all the time, guess what, you will be attracting more of that to you. That's right, more unhappiness and more things to complain about. If you make a conscious effort to feel good and you are grateful for all your blessings, you will attract more things to feel good about and to be grateful for. Sounds simple right? Well, it can be.

         <title>Feel Good!</title>

         <description>What does it mean to feel good? Well, that's going to be different for everyone, but many people describe it as a contentment, joy, peace, or happiness. Most of us prefer to feel good than the alternative.

How can we feel good with everything that's going on in our world, and in our lives? What you focus on expands. If you watch the news, read the papers, focus on what's not working in your life, you may be bombarded with negative thoughts and feelings. What if you watched and read less of that stuff. What if you focused on the 80% that is working in your life instead of what you don't think is working? What if you focused on what you do have, instead of what you don't have? What if you focused on solutions instead of problems? What if you were grateful for all the positive in your life and in your world (because there really is far more positive than negative)?          <title>Follow the Sraight Line to your goals</title>

         <description>The quickest way from point A (where you are now) to point B (where you want to be, your goal or dream) is in a straight line.

And the most efficient way to stay on the straight line is to focus your energy, and attention, and to practice a consistent set of actions.

What that means, is you choose thoughts, feelings, and actions that will move you closer to that goal.

Unfortunately, what really happens is we get motivated and start taking action towards our goal and we get side tracked, or the results aren't quick enough so we lose our momentum. Suddenly our line from point A to point B looks more like Lombard Street in San Francisco, a very crooked one. I think we've all spent a lot of time on this crooked road.

For example, if you have a goal to "get in shape" as many of my clients do, that's a pretty vague goal.          <title>How to get rid of negative thinking</title>

         <description>I grew up in a family that wore their negativity like a proud shield. I remember my beloved grandmother and her friends almost boosting about how bad life was as if it was a contest, who had the most aches and pains or the worst finances or problems with their children. They didn't realize they were negative and they certainly didn't realize the effect this negativity had on their life. This is the way it was and it was handed down from generation to generation. My older sister and I would sit in church every Sunday making fun of people (we may have looked angelic, but we weren't!). For us it was a good time to poke fun at the ladies beehives and people's outfits until my parents separated us in the pew. What we didn't realize is that we were honing our critical skills, and negative thoughts. Then there are the people that make conversation by criticizing (we all know some). You could give them a million dollars and they'd still find something to complain about.
