Japanese Shoji Screens

In Asian décor in the east and west an item called a Japanese Shoji Screen is used as either a room divider or a form of decoration. A Japanese Shoji Screen is a room divider or door that is made up of rice paper fitted to a wooden frame and are made to be light so as it is easy to move them. These screens can be considered works of art because, as with all Japanese art, these screens were built from the earth’s natural beauty. A Shoji screen was used as doors, room dividers, and as privacy screens. Folding screens, like the Shoji Screen, was first introduced by China around the 8th century A.D. China might have invented folding screens but it was Japan who came up with the most popular variations of these screens and introduced them to western countries.

Japanese Shoji screens come in different sizes and each size may serve a different purpose. The use of the screen determined how many folds the screen had. **End Summary** Topics: Room dividers Down comforters down bed comforters privacy screen shoji screens
About the Author:
About the Author:

All About Down Comforters

If you want to add a bit of luxury to your bedroom or if you just want added warmth during those cold seasons, then down comforters might just be the home decor product that you are looking for. Creating a lavish look in your bedrooms can be accomplished by purchasing down bed comforters, while obtaining warmth can be obtained through any of the types of down comforters. Before you purchase anything, it is wise to consider the different types of down comforters available.

The first thing you will want to consider is the type of filling the down comforters has. Usually, down bed comforters are filled with goose down. The most expensive and best quality down comforters are created with Siberian goose down. The disadvantages of having down bed comforters filled with goose feathers are that some people are allergic to them. This issue can be solved by purchasing hypoallergenic down comforters. Hypoallergenic fillers can be created with things such as lamb, llama, and alpaca wool. Sometimes feathers will be used with the goose down and this can sometimes poke your skin through the outer material of the down comforters. Another popular filler is duck down. **End Summary** Topics: Down comforters down bed comforters
About the Author:
About the Author:

Decorating with Room Dividers

Room dividers can be a form of decoration, a functional way to separate spaces, or both. There are different forms of room dividers that can be used, depending on the need. For instance, an individual wanting to partially separate a room may use a permanent or half width room divider, decorated with shelves on one side for functionality. With the many ways to use room dividers it can be hard to choose which type to use, so, it might be wise to have knowledge on the different types of room dividers to better know what will best fit the space the room dividers are to be used in.

Room dividers can be broken down into three basic categories: permanent room dividers, improvised room dividers, and flexible dividers. A permanent room divider can be something like a half width or half height wall. This means that the divider can come out half way across the floor or halfway up a wall. A wall could have shelves on one side or just be decorated to match the rest of the room. **End Summary** Topics: Room dividers Japanese room dividers asian decor privacy screens shoji screens
About the Author:
Mike Zamora writes articles about room dividers and privacy screen.
Decorating With Japanese Shoji Screens

There are many ways that a person can choose to decorate their home, a room in their home, or an office. There is a way that is becoming more and more popular in decorating any type of room, and that is with Japanese Shoji Screens. Japanese Shoji screens are the most popular form of room dividers in the western world and can be used for purely decorative purposes or as room dividers that decorate. There are many ways to decorate and/or use Japanese Shoji Screens in any space to make that space more tranquil and fresh. These types of room dividers are light and airy, giving small rooms private sections while keeping the feeling of openness.

The first way an individual can decorate with Japanese Shoji Screens is to keep with an Asian theme that is in the home or in a particular room. Asian themes are minimal in design and focus on the space and the function of that space. This Japanese room divider can be used to set the boundaries for any specific space that is wanted or needed while allowing light to come through the screen and illuminate the area. **End Summary** Topics: asian decor privacy screens room dividers shoji screens
About the Author:
About the Author:

Asian Decor

Asian Décor is becoming a more popular form of decoration and concentrates main things in a room while keeping things to a minimal. One of the main focuses of this décor is color. Red is the color used the most because red is believed to give good luck, but, tans, browns, goldâ€'s, and grays are also used in Asian décor. Earth tones are a good way to go in Asian Décor and when wood is used it should be chocolate or burgundy. The colors are the basis of Asian décor and lead to fully embracing the Asian culture in a room.

Another main focus of Asian décor is room dividers that are called Shoji screens. Shoji screens are traditionally made of white rice paper with art symbols of Asian traditions that are attached to bamboo or other types of woods. Room dividers are a main focus because the floor plans of Asian décor are minimal, meaning there is not a lot going on or a lot of clutter. Shoji Screens offer decoration in front of a window or an ugly wall, or can divide a room into more functional and personal spaces. **End Summary** Topics: asian decor privacy screens room dividers shoji screens
About the Author:
About the Author:
