Find Out What You'll Need For Your First Home

When moving into your first home, try not to allow the excitement overwhelm some basic aspects, such as leasing arrangements and funding. Make sure you take the time to analyze everything, especially the small print.

Prior to the actual day of your move thoroughly inspect the property, preferably with the letting agent. Take along a camera and photograph any damage already present. Look for stains on the carpets, old drill holes and marks on the walls, dents or damage to any appliances, furniture etc. and burns of any description. When these photo's are developed keep one set and give the other set to the letting agency, this will protect your deposit when you decide to leave and avoids any argument over who was responsible for the damage.

Check all appliances are in working order. If within a couple of days after moving in something decides not to work properly, IMMEDIATELY contact the letting agent, to minimise the risk of being accused of having damaged the item yourself.

Properties to rent will consist of either furnished or unfurnished. It's worth taking a moment to decide before you start to look for a property what your preference is. **End Summary** Topics: rented accommodation leasehold tenancy property new home household equipment
About the Author:
For a full comprehensive list of items you may require visit <a href="http://www.how2begin.com/">How2begin.com</a> also offering free help and advise, on a large range of topics.
How To Choose Between a Laptop, Notepad or a Desktop Computer

Most people seem to prefer to purchase a laptop/notebook computer these days instead of the more traditional desktop computer. The problem is that users are not always aware of information they truly need to make that all-important purchasing decision. We have tried below to provide you with a reasonable summary of the advantages and disadvantages of each.

Laptop v's Notebook

Most people refer to their portable computer as a ‘laptop', whilst this is not technically the correct term in a lot of cases. Here we examine the difference between the ‘laptop' and ‘notebook' definitions.

In the late 1980's and early 1990's portable computers became widely available. They were all called ‘laptops' and they were heavier than we have become used to. Prior to this the only portable computers were very large ‘suitcase' style machines which were quite heavy. As these laptop computers became smaller during the 1990's the term ‘notebook' computer began to emerge. Most portable computer manufacturers will now refer to their product as a ‘notebook' rather than a ‘laptop'. The term ‘notebook' has partially replaced the term ‘laptop' because these ‘heavier' machines are no longer being made. **End Summary** Topics: laptop notebook desktop desk top computer specifications manual information differences
About the Author:
Choosing the right computer to buy, can sometimes be a difficult decision.
10 Tips On How To Avoid Jet Lag

As more and more people travel further both for pleasure and business, the chances of suffering from jet lag increases. Learn here a few simple solutions to reduce the misery of jet lag.

1. Take a morning flight where possible and upon arrival at your destination have a light meal then go to bed.

2. Try not to become over tired before you travel. The fallacy of having a late night party before you fly with very little sleep so you can sleep on the flight will often have the reverse effect. It may alleviate the boredom, but will do little to adjust your body clock.

3. Set a separate clock or watch to the time zone of your destination 4 - 5 days before your departure. Using this, become aware of your intended breakfast time and increase your alertness, by being a little more active.

4. Caffeine intake should be avoided 2 - 3 days before your flight and only taken when it is morning at your destination.

5. Change all watches when you board for your flight , this will subconsciously help you to adjust your body clock.

6. **End Summary** Topics: jet lag flight flying travel travel sickness
About the Author:
http://www.how2begin.com Jet Lag is an increasing problem.
How To Borrow Money Safely - Get It Right

Don't ever borrow more money than you need and always make sure you will have the means to pay it back. Shopping around for the best possible interest rates will save you often a large amount of money in the long term. Do your sums, it's really not that difficult, if unsure always ask for the final total cost of your loan, to include insurance protection etc. It's easy for a £1,000.00 loan to end up costing you over double if you don't check. Always take the time to read ALL of the small print.

Borrow against the equity of your house. Home loan interest rates are often the cheapest source of money, so it makes sense to use the equity to buy essentials like a new car, extension etc. Avoid borrowing if you have funds available else where, but feel you'd rather leave them along for a rainy day (if you need to borrow, then today is that rainy day). You will save interest as the interest you will be receiving on your savings will be far less than what you will be charged for borrowing. **End Summary** Topics: loan mortgage help advise borrow equity best rates
About the Author:
There will usually be at some point in your life a time when you will need to <a href="http://www.how2begin.com/business/how-to-borrow-money-safely-2.html">borrow money.</a> Possibly a mortgage or a home inprovements loan.
How To Or (Maybe Not) Build A Website !

I had a Dream - I had an Idea - I could make Thousands - all I had to do was build a website!. Sounded quite simple 6 months ago, but that was 6 months ago. This is a brief, but true story about the realities of website development on a shoe string and with no college IT training.

I did mention this was a true story, so I'll bare all. Last November I reached a major junction in my life. I was working 60 hrs a week in a highly stressful position, then I had my 50th birthday. Something snapped, in a nut shell I quit my job which horrified my family as mine was the main income. I had burned out and had enough.

All my life I have had a dream to be a writer, but knew realistically I didn't have the talent or skill to be such, so next best thing was to build a website. I mean I'd read it was easy and you can earn a whole lot of money. How stupid could I have been. **End Summary** Topics: website build develop start begin how to development hosting
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.how2begin.com">How To Start Something New Today</a> Lot's of people can have ideas & dreams - sail around the world - learn to fly - win the lottery, therefore just having a dream to build a website, sounded so simple, indeed building a website isn't difficult, or is it? http://www.how2begin.com

How To Remove Marks From Wood

Even in the most careful of environments, accidents to furniture can happen. Don't despair, there are ways to help repair the damage and avoid a costly replacement.

Prevention is always better than cure. Although there are many commercial furniture spray cleaners, it always a good idea once a month to add extra protection to your wood by applying a 100% Beeswax product. Ensure when this is applied it is thoroughly polished into the wood leaving no residue.

Grease - Remove grease at soon as possible using a paper towel, id left untreated for any time, it will leave a permanent dark mark. Wipe over the area with a soft cloth that has been dipped in a solution of equal parts vinegar and water.

Alcohol Stains

Blot up spill immediately and rub the area with Brasso (metal polishing fluid). Then polish along the grain with a soft cloth.

Water Marks

Mop up as soon as possible as water will cause unvarnished or un waxed wood to swell. Allow surface to dry, then rub as for Alcohol Stains, with a metal polish, making sure you rub along the grain of the wood. **End Summary** Topics: damaged wood wood stains repair wood furniture repair furniture accident
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.how2begin.com">How To Begin Something New Today</a> offers free help and advise, that will enable you to have a go.
Help For Women Buying A Car, Written by a Woman

It never ceases to amaze me in the 21st century the way women are sometimes treated by car salesmen when they walk into a car showroom.

Here are just some of the attitudes women have to face :-

When visiting a showroom alone - " Where's you're husband?" When with a male companion - All conversation is directed at him and you're questions remain unanswered. When going for a test drive, not being allowed to drive the vehicle. When allowed to drive the vehicle, the salesman drives you to a quiet road before the keys are handed over. When advising the salesman it's going to be a company car he replies "Where's your boss?"

Believe me it's true, interesting thought, have you ever seen a female car salesperson?

Ok so what can be done to rectify the situation? Quite a lot. Get clued up, I mean enter the showroom armed with as much knowledge as possible. It's not difficult. First you will need to have a good idea of the type of car you're interested in buying. Use the internet, newspapers, magazines do some research on - engine size, fuel consumption, warranty, pricing, finance etc. **End Summary** Topics: car showroom buying a new car women woman
About the Author:
The way women are sometimes treated by car salesmen when they walk into a car showroom never ceases to amaze me .
How To Choose The Right Kitten For You

Whether you're thinking of buying a pedigree or just a moggie, there's several important factors to take into consideration when choosing your kitten.

When you go to view make sure you are able to view the whole litter this will enable you to determine the characteristics of each kitten. Look for a playful and alert kitten, choose a kitten with clear eyes and a shiny coat. Check the ears and paws for any signs of ringworm. Are the kittens clean and not giving off any bad odours? View the living quarters, these should be clean, well ventilated and of a reasonable size to accommodate both the queen and the litter.

The kittens should have been regularly wormed and the mother fully vaccinated, you may wish to ask to see documented proof of this if your unsure. When purchasing a pedigree kitten look over the papers carefully and after you have taken home the kitten, ask your local vet to check for any evidence of inbreeding.

The characteristics of kittens as with most creatures will often vary greatly. The first kitten to approach you will usually be the dominant one. **End Summary** Topics: kitten cat pedigree purchase vet worming choose a kitten
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.how2begin.com">How To Start Something New Today</a> We have the information you need to help you look after your pets.Training and looking after any animal takes great thought, preparation and patience.
