North Kingstown Properties Well Worth Looking into

When North Kingstown was incorporated in 1674, it still had the area of the Narragansett County included in it, encompassing the present towns of North and South Kingstown. It was only until 1722 and 1723 that both towns became separate. The county of North Kingstown is known for its natural harbor and beaches laced with resorts and pleasure boats. Its historic sites still stands well and preserved, the most prominent of which is the Smith's Castle. Built in the year 1640 by Richard Smith as a trading post, it was later used in 1675 as a meeting place for troops who fought in the Great Swamp Fight.

Gilbert Stuart, America's premier portrait painter, was also born here. Occupied by Narragansett Indians, the place is marked by the structures of the Rolling Rock and the Queens Fort, which stands for their strong presence in the county. In addition to that, Kings Town also has churches, homes, and shops that date back to the colonial period. Built in the year 1707, the Old Narragansett Church alongside the Episcopal Church building north of Philadelphia, and Wickford Village, a colonial town with well-preserved homes, are all testimonies to the rich past of this county. **End Summary** Topics: north kingstown property north kingstown homes north kingstown realtor
About the Author:
Find north kingstown homes , north kingstown condos and other north kingstown properties .

Prime East Greenwich Properties

Right at the center Rhode Island is the county of East Greenwich, the eight oldest town in the state and home to the early American patriots. Established as a town in the 1600s, East Greenwich stands on the land originally owned by Pequot Indians and bought by King Charles II. Bordered from the area of the Narragansett Bay to the hills that roll to the town boundary, the East Greenwich County was originally farmland that grew into a commercial center. It is known for its harbor, which from past to present, have provided refuge for local fishermen and trade ships.

Far from the farming town that it was before, East Greenwich today is unmistakably a center for trade and commerce in this area of Rhode Island. Textile manufacturing, machinery, and shipbuilding are among the chief industries that flourish in this area. Throughout the centuries, settlers from other towns, states, and countries have left a trail of historic buildings that tourists and residents can enjoy today. Named after the Greenwich County of Kent in England, East Greenwich is valued for its well-maintained National Historic District. **End Summary** Topics: east greenwich property east greenwich homes east greenwich realtor
About the Author:
Williamgilbert is online resource of local East Greenwich Realtor site for all your East Greenwich Home searching needs.
