Superior Rug Pad Benefits for Rugs and Floors

There may be many rug pads that are called Superior yet there are very few that are actually superior. A Superior rug pad will protect and prolong the life of any area rug. A Superior rug pad will protect any hard floor surface. A Superior rug pad will add comfort and insulation and a Superior rug pad will not damage any hard floor surface, including hardwood floors and all wood floors.

Superior rug pads should prolong the life of any area rug
One purpose of a quality rug pad is to protect the rug from premature wear. A solid Superior rug pad that is dense enough will do this. The density plays a role in keeping the back of an area rug from excessive rubbing and wear against a hard floor. If the rug pad is not dense enough, but rather more spongy, then the rug is not protected well enough. Here, a recycled 40 ounce felt rug pad is Superior in that the 40 ounces makes it extremely dense to protect the back of any rug.

Superior rug pads should protect hardwood and wood floors from damage
Another purpose of a rug pad is to protect the floor. **End Summary** Topics: superior rug pad superior rug padding superior carpet pad
About the Author:
You may view and read more about Superior rug pads at <a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/">Rug Pad Corner</a>

Rug Pads for Rugs on Tile Floors

I usually tell people that for larger room size rugs, a non slip pad is not so necessary as the rug does not tend to slip. In the case of rugs on tile floors, because the tile is usually slippery, it is best to have a non slip rug pad under any size rug. Even with furniture on a rug that is on a tile floor, the parts of the rug without furniture, such as the edges, could slip. There are two types of non slip rug pads that are best for rugs on tile floors.

The first non slip rug pad for tile floors is one that is made from a jute and rubber material. There are many varieties of this pad available and the quality I like is one in which the jute is a recycled jute and the rubber bottom is a solid layer of natural rubber, not a sprayed on latex or rubber like substance that can stick to your floor. The surface of this jute pad is slightly texturted to safely grab your rug. **End Summary** Topics: tile floor pad non pad rug pad tile
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Read more and view the best non slip rug pads for tile floors</a>

Carpet Pads: Choose the Right One

If you have a carpet or area rug, then you need a carpet pad. Carpet pads provide comfort, sound insulation and prolong the life of your rugs and carpets as well as adding protection to your floors. There are many carpet pads available to you yet you can narrow your choices to a few, depending on the use and type of floor and rug.

If you have small carpets or runners that tend to slide, then you should choose a quality non slip carpet pad. Here, I can suggest two types of pads. If you prefer a thin carpet pad, then there is a nice quality organic non slip pad that is 1/8 of an inch thick. This carpet pad still provides some comfort and does prolong the life of your rug. What it really does not do is provide any sound insulation.

The next quality non slip carpet pad is one that is a solid 1/4 of an inch jute and rubber combination pad. Here, the recycled jute surface holds your rug and the solid layer of rubber holds to the floor. **End Summary** Topics: carpet pads carpet pad carpet padding
About the Author:
Luis Santamaria has been in the area rug industry for several years.
Rug on Carpet Pad

An area rug is usually the foundation of every room. This is no exception for rooms that have wall to wall carpet. Many people tell me they place a rug on top of the carpet. I like the look of this and keeping the decorative look requires placing the proper pad underneath your rug to keep it as wrinkle free and flat as possible. There are a few types of rug to carpet pads available yet not all perform as they should.

I often hear customers ask how to keep rugs flat on carpet. Their first idea is to use carpet tape or something sticky to hold the edges of the rug down. This is a misconception as any kind of tape truly does not work if you plan to use your room. Think about the tape. If you stick tape along the outer edge of your rug, perhaps the tape will keep the edges of your rug in place temporarily. Now, walk on the rug and place furniture on it and you will find this tape to be very short lived. **End Summary** Topics: rug carpet pad rug on carpet carpet pad
About the Author:
Luis Santamaria has been involved in the area rug and flooring industry for several years.
How to Choose a Quality Rug Pad

Whether you have an antique rug or a new rug an you're concern is to make sure to get a quality rug pad, your choices are good yet you need to pay attention to details. There are many quality rug pads available that are either non slip pads or simply to protect your rug and floor while adding comfort. In the different levels of rug pads there are a few aspects you should consider when looking for a quality pad.

In the world of non slip rug pads, the quality ones are either made of an organic substance or a solid rubber. I stress solid rubber because a very inexpensive way to manufacture non slip pads is to use nylon or pvc, a form of plastic, and to coat this material with a spray adhesive to give it a non slip feature. Unfortunately, this spray is only temporary before it stops providing a non slip feature and usually marks and damages your floor. The organic version of this, a non slip pad with holes, uses more plant oils in place of the chemical spray and has been proven to last without damaging most floors. **End Summary** Topics: quality rug pad best rug pad choose rug pad
About the Author:
Luis Santamaria has been involved in the area rug and flooring industry for several years.
The Rug Pad that Replaced Hair and Jute Rug Pads

I remember the days of using hair and jute rug pads under room size rugs. The typical hair and jute rug pad was nice and thick and offered a world of protection to the rugs and the floors. Hair and jute rug pads were made from actual horse hair and jute and many rug dealers stocked it and offered it in virtually every size cut right off the roll.

Over the years, the hair and jute rug pad started to be replaced with recycled jute or synthetic jute rug pads. The reason for this is that as good as the hair and jute rug pad was, there were a few characteristics that were not so desirable. First, under humid conditions, the hair and jute rug pad would start to smell, mainly due to the horse hair. Secondly, this type of rug pad would eventually break down.

These days, manufacturers offer a great replacement to the hair and jute rug pad. There are various qualities of this jute rug pad and I like one in particular. The recycled 40 ounce jute rug pad is an excellent choice for room size rugs. **End Summary** Topics: jute rug pad hair jute pad recycled rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Find the best recycled jute rug pads</a>

Felt Rug Pads: The Best Jute Rug Pads

All rugs need a rug pad and for those of us not too excited about using rubber rug pads on our floors, an excellent choice in rug pads for all rugs on all types of floors is one of a felted jute. The best jute felt rug pad is made of a recycled jute that is compressed into a dense rug pad to prolong the life of any area rug while protecting the floor underneath.

A quality jute felt rug pad is made from recycled fibers such as nylon and wool carpet fibers. The manufacturing process is one called a needle punched compression. This in essence takes the recycled fibers and compresses them into a nice, dense rug pad. The higher the weight, or ounces per square yeard, of the felted jute rug pad, the better support it provides to your rug. On the higher level of quality, the 40 ounce recycled jute rug pad is a winner. This rug pad is dense enough to help protect your rug, soft enough on the underside to be extremely safe on all floors and thick enough, just less then a 1/2 of an inch, to be comfortable. **End Summary** Topics: felt rug pad jute rug pad felted carpet pad felted rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/superiorrugpads.aspx">Find an excellent jute felt pad</a>

Rug Pads for Persian and Oriental Rugs

Persian and oriental rugs can last a lifetime with the proper rug pad. A rug pad will prolong the life of any persian and oriental rug while also protecting your floors and your family. Since persian and oriental rugs are handmade, the back of the rugs consist of knots. These knots should be protected with a quality rug pad.

If your rug tends to slide, then the best rug pad for your persian and oriental rug is a recycled jute and solid rubber combination rug pad. This rug pad is needle punched to a dense quality. The recycled jute surface is slightly textured to hold your rug while the solid rubber bottom is patterned to grip to your floor. One important element of this rug pad is that it is dense enough to protect the back of all persian and oriental rugs. When the rug is walked on, the pressure from each step pushes down against the pile of the rug. This in turn pushes the knots of the rug against the hard floor. With this dense rug pad, the rug pad will act as a barrier and protect the knots of your rug. **End Summary** Topics: persian rug pad oriental rug pad persian carpet pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Find the best rug pads for Persian and Oriental rugs</a>

Reversible Rug Pads and How They are Used

Rugs can be used on hard floors as well as on top of carpet. Regardless of the type of rug you have, a rug pad is always a good idea. Reversible rug pads are made to function on top of hard floors and on top of carpet. The best reversible rug pad is one in which the surface is a textured recycled jute and the bottom is a real layer of natural rubber.

Many of us have seen what happens to rugs when they are on carpet. And, when we add some furniture to the picture, the rug can get pretty wrinkled and not lie as flat as it should. There is a quality rug pad available that can be used for rugs on carpet and it truly does minimize wrinkling and crawling. This is important in that the flatter the rug, the nicer it looks. Another important element of a flat rug on carpet is that there is less trip hazard with people walking on the rug. A reversible rug pad also prevents premature wear to the rug. The recycled jute of this pad, the part that goes down against your carpet, has a texture that grips your carpet. **End Summary** Topics: reversible rug pad two sided rug pad rubber and jute rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/ultrapremiumrugpads.aspx">Find the best reversible rug pads</a>

Rug Pads: Rubber versus Jute Rug Pads

Rug pads are available in rubber and jute, among other materials. The best rug pads I have encountered are either ones with a real layer of rubber or ones made with recycled jute. Both types of rug pads are excellent choices depending on the purpose and the floor you have. Let's look at the difference between rubber and jute pads and decide which is best for your rugs and floors.

First, I want to stress the fact that throughout this article, when I refer to rug pads with rubber, I mean real rubber as opposed to a rubber like texture from some sprayed on application. Next, when I refer to jute rug pads, I mean recycled jute as opposed to synthetic jute and latex or plastic.

Okay, for hardwood, marble, tile, stone and linoleum floors, both rubber and jute rug pads are safe. The only type of floors where rubber may pose a problem is with laminate and concrete floors. For this, we stick with the jute rug pad that has been proven to be completely safe on laminate and concrete floors. **End Summary** Topics: rubber rug pad jute rug pad best rubber pad non slip pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Find the best rubber and jute rug pads</a>

Silk Rugs and Carpets: The Best Rug Pad

You have a valuable silk rug that probably took months, maybe even years to make by hand and now you should protect it with the right rug pad. Silk rugs are very detailed, valuable and impressive. The fact is that this type of rug is an investment and we should protect this investment.

The best rug pad for silk rugs is one in which there is a textured surface and a non slip bottom. This pad is usually made of a jute surface and rubber bottom. There are lots of choices available and it is important to make sure you choose the right version of this rug pad. Make sure the surface is made from a recycled jute that is needle punched. This process creates an extremely dense pad with a slightly textured surface. The texture tends to hold your silk rug to the pad, making it less likely to crawl on the pad. The bottom of the pad should be a solid layer of rubber. I always stress the fact that this should be solid rubber because there are many imitations available that are less expensive because they are made with a sprayed on latex or chemical. **End Summary** Topics: silk rug pad silk carpet pad silk rug padding
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/ultrapremiumrugpads.aspx">Purchase the best rug pad for silk rugs</a>

Where to Buy Custom Rug Pads

You have a rug that needs a pad and most rug pads sold are in standard sizes. The problem is that your rug is not a standard size, even if it is off by only a few inches. This means you will either need to buy a custom rug pad or buy a standard pad and cut it yourself. The first option is best since rug pads, particulary dense ones, might be difficult to cut in your home.

Stores that carry rug pads by the rolls are usually able to custom cut your rug pad. Some stores may charge a premium and depending on the charge, it could be well worth it. A custom rug pad means that when you place the pad on your floor, your rug should fit perfectly on it even with the one inch allowance on all sides. Let's say your rug is 8'8"x11'9". Well, the closest standard size rug pad is a 9'x12' pad. Allowing for the one inch border on all sides, your rug pad really needs to be 8'6"x11'7" to fit a rug size of 8'8"x11'9". **End Summary** Topics: custom rug pad custom rug padding custom carpet pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Purchase custom rug pads online</a>

Choosing The Best Rug Pad for Runners

Runners are usually used in hallways and hallways usually get a lot of traffic. Being one of the most used rugs in a home, runners need a quality rug pad to prolong their life as well as keep from slipping. Although there are several non slip pads that can stop the runner from moving, not all perform as best as they should.

Let us talk about the waffle looking rug pads available. There are three types. The first is usually a nylon or plastic that has a spray on it to create a non slip function. The major problem here is that the spray will eventually wear off onto the rug and/or the floor. The other type of thinner pad is an actual solid rubber pad. This is safe for many floors and rugs and has been known to last. It is important to make sure the product is an actual solid layer of rubber and not a sprayed latex rubber. Lastly, there is another thin non slip pad that is an organic polymer. This type of pad is safe for floors and rugs and usually lasts longer than we care about. **End Summary** Topics: runner rug pad runner rug padding cushion under runner
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com">Find the Best Runner Rug Pads</a>

Needlepoint Rugs: Get the Best Rug Pad

The beauty of needlepoint rugs lies in the fact that they are handmade and flat weave rugs. This flat weave creates a certain look that is almost like having a painting on your floor. Since needlepoint rugs are thin and could be quite flexible, it is important to have the best rug pad for needlepoint rugs to keep the rug as flat and wrinkle free as possible, as well as keeping the needlepoint rug from sliding.

I hear people ask me if they should put a thick rug pad under their needlepoint rug to add comfort. Well, some cushion is fine yet too thick of a pad would not keep the rug flat. The needlepoint rug does not have any pile and hence no substantial weight to keep it from buckling on top of a thick and very cushioned rug pad. The best rug pad for this rug is one that has a little cushion and a lot of non slip function.

A jute and rubber combination rug pad is best for needlepoint rugs. The quality rug pad has a recycled jute surface that is textured. This textured surface safely grabs your needlepoint rug. **End Summary** Topics: needlepoint rug pad thin rug pad flat rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/ultrapremiumrugpads.aspx">Shop for the Best Needlepoint Rug pad</a>

How to Care for Area Rugs

Area rugs bring color, warmth and a sense of foundation to any room. Once you own an area rug, caring for it is relatively simple but should be performed. If cared for properly, a quality carpet can last a lifetime.

The first thing to consider for is a quality rug pad. Rugs take stress on their pile, their backing and their foundation since they are usually against a hard floor surface. The proper pad will reduce, and in most cases, eliminate the stress. When a rug is walked on, the backing, or the knots, grind against the hard floor. Over time, this creates premature wear. A carpet pad acts as a barrier and absorbs most of this stress, hence prolonging the life of your rug. Although there are several choices in pads, be sure to purchase one that is dense enough to resist pressure and safe enough for your floors. If it is a non slip pad you desire, get one that contains real rubber and not a sprayed on latex rubber since this can break down and harm the floor. **End Summary** Topics: rug care area rug care caring for rugs
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/">Visit Rug Pad Corner!</a>

Every rug needs a rug pad and there is no question that for smaller rugs, hallway rugs and any rug that tends to slip, a quality non slip and non skid rug pad is best. This type of rug pad is referred to be a few names. Non slip rug pads can be called non skid rug pads, hold rug pads, rubber rug pad, cushioned non slip rug pad, move not rug pad and more. There are non slip rug pads that have a waffle looking design that range anywhere from being almost paper thin to almost 1/4 of an inch thick.

Every rug needs a rug pad and let's face it, shopping for a rug pad may not be the most desirable thing on your list of things to do. The rug pad is under the rug and rarely ever seen. Since it is out of sight, out of mind, we still need to be careful in choosing the right rug pad for your rugs and floors.

Online stores have obviously become a very popular outlet for many items and rug pads are no different. If you find the right online store, you will have the best rug pad you can find for the money, and there are only a few of these stores around. The problem with the rest of the online rug stores or home decor stores that offer rug pads is that they drop ship the rug pad to you. This means when an order comes in, they send the order to a warehouse not affiliated with them and the warehouse then processes your order and ships it to you. The online store never sees or touches the rug pad. The rug pad is just one item of hundreds or thousands that this store may offer. **End Summary** Topics: rug pads online best rug pads custom rug pads
About the Author:
...

Rug Pad for Thin and Low Profile Rugs

I often hear the question, "what type of rug pad works best for thin rugs?", I wanted to write a little about this topic. By thin rugs, we mean rugs that are made with a thinner, or flatter pile. These are often described as low profile rugs as well. Thin rugs could be new and they can also be antique. Navajo rugs, kilim rugs, antique persian rugs, sisal rugs, jute rugs and others are all considered thin or low profile rugs.

Initially, many people think of a thick rug pad to put under a thinner rug. This is a normal thought yet we need to be careful not to place a very thick rug pad under the rug. One aspect of thinner rugs is that their low profile has a nice look on the floor. In most cases, if we alter this look too much by raising the rug with too thick of a rug pad, the intended look of the rug is defeated.

Thin rugs need the right rug pad for a few reasons. **End Summary** Topics: thin rug pad low profile rugs antique rug pad kilim rug pad
About the Author:
Luis Santamaria has been in the area rug industry for several years.
Best Rug Pad for Basements and Concrete Floors

Using rugs on concrete floors has become a very popular thing to do. Rugs can add warmth and color. Every rug needs a rug pad and a rug on a concrete floor is no exception.

Concrete floors can be damp and basements can retain some humidity. It is important to use the right rug pad in such places. While there are sevral quality rug pads available for rugs, the only and best rug pad for concrete floors is a quality recycled jute rug pad.

When shopping for a rug pad for your concrete or basement floor, be sure to notice what the rug pad is made of. There are many synthetic jute rug pads on the market and although they are good, they are not as suitable for concrete floors as a recycled rug pad. A recycled rug pad contains no plastic or rubber and is made from recycled fibers such as wool and nylon carpet fibers. The final result is a dense jute pad that is mildew and mold resistant. **End Summary** Topics: basement rug pad concrete rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/">Visit Rug Pad Corner!</a>

Thick Rug Pads: The Best Thick Rug Pad

Thick rug pads can be spongy or dense. Traditional wall to wall carpeting can use more of a spongy carpet pad where area rugs require more of a dense thick rug pad.

The best way to choose your thick rug pad for your area rug is to look for a few things. First, make sure the material of the thick rug pad is a recycled jute. This is important because this material does not smell, is mold and mildew resistant, is fire retardant and does not breakdown or shed. There are jute rug pads on the market that are described as synthetic jute. Try to avoid this type of thick rug pad as it usually contains latex and/or polypropylene, which is another form of plastic. This may prove to possess an odor and can harm your floor in the long run.

Once you find a quality recycled thick jute rug pad, now look at the density, or weight. Jute rug pads come in 20, 28, 32 and 40 ounce weights. The higher the weight, the more dense and thick the rug pad and the better the rug pad is. **End Summary** Topics: thick rug pad best thick pad jute rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/">Visit Rug Pad Corner!</a>

Every rug should have a rug pad under it. After you decide on and choose the best rug pad for your rug, you now have to make sure it is the right size rug pad for your rug. Most rug pads are offered in standard rug sizes and this usually means you will have to trim your rug pad once you receive it.

Since area rugs tend to deviate a little from the standard sizes that they were meant to be, especially handmade rugs that are not usually perfect, buying a standard size rug pad usually means you will need to trim the pad a little. There are very few companies who will actually trim the rug pad to the exact size of your rug. Rug pad Corner, at www.rugpadcorner.com, is one of these companies that asks you for your rug size and they will cut the rug pad to the proper size.

In the event that you buy your rug pad from a store that only offers them in standard sizes, choose the rug pad closest in size to your rug. If you have a rug that measures 7'10"x9'10", then choose the 8'x10' rug pad. **End Summary** Topics: rug pad size rug pads
About the Author:
...

Best Rug Pad for Hardwood Floors

Hardwood floors can be easily damaged with the wrong rug pad. Some rug pads contain a sprayed on latex rubber that can break down and mark your hardwood and wood floors. There are two rug pads that are the best and the safest for hardwood floors.

The first best rug pad for hardwood floors is one that is used well for rugs that do not have a sliding problem. This rug pad does not contain any rubber and is made from 100% recycled jute. Recycled wool and nylon carpet fibers are needle punched and compressed into a dense rug pad that is mold and mildew resistant as well as fire retardant. There are various weights of this rug pad and I prefer the 40 ounce weight, which means there are 40 ounces of material per square yard. This creates a dense, 1/2 of an inch rug pad that is strong enough to protect the back of the rug as well as prevent any damage to hardwood floors. This jute rug pad is best for laminate floors where it is warned not to use any rubber or petroleum based products on such a floor. **End Summary** Topics: best rug pad hardwood rug pad
About the Author:
<a href="http://www.rugpadcorner.com/">Visit Rug Pad Corner!</a>

Rug Pads: Every Rug Needs a Rug Pad

When you use an area rug on a floor, having a rug pad is very important. Most people tend to think a rug pad is only used to protect the floor from scratching. Rug pads are an important element in prolonging the life of a rug as well as offering floor protection and comfort.

There are mainly three types of rug pads. All three of these rug pads are for use on hardwood floors and hard floor surfaces such as laminate, tile and marble. One of the three of these rug pads can also be used for rugs on carpet. These rug pads are a recycled jute rug pad that does not contain any rubber, a jute and rubber combination rug pad and an organic polymer non slip rug pad.

The three types of best rug pads to use are composed of different materials. The first offers protection all around as well as a non slip feature. This rug pad is made of needle punched compressed recycled jute along with a solid layer of rubber. The important difference between different pads of this type is that the best rug pad has the rubber attached as a solid layer. **End Summary** Topics: rug pads best rug pad area rug pad non slip pad rug underlay
About the Author:
...
