Left Handed Live Longer - Right?

Well, yes and no.

You might have heard or seen the rallying cry, “Left Handed Live Longer!” – particularly online. And you probably dismissed it as a wild, baseless claim by a bunch of radical lefties. (Editor’s note: The reference to “left and lefties” in this article has no political implications whatsoever.)

It is true that the lefties are a minority (of the billions of people in the world, about 10% are left handed). And it also is true that minorities often shout the loudest.

Of course, the lefties may have a reason to shout – history hasn’t always been kind to those who favored using their left hand when throwing a ball or eating with a fork. Not everyone thought it was okay to be a leftie. Before we had all of the medical and scientific research that we have today, many children were not allowed to use their left hand when doing schoolwork.

But, give us credit, we have grown as a nation, and we now are more tolerant of what we used to call the “wrong-handers. **End Summary** Topics: live longer anti-aging
About the Author:
Dave Tishendorf is a journalist who has written extensively about anti-aging issues.
Live Longer? That's a Laughing Matter

Yes, it's true. Laughing does help you live longer.

That shouldn't come as a surprise, actually. Think about it; how do you feel when you laugh? You feel good. Don't you? I mean, show me the guy who, while he's laughing, tenses up because he's thinking about punching his neighbor in the nose over a property-line dispute, or the wife, while her head is tilted back in a fit of high-pitched laughter, is simultaneously clenching her fists because she is enraged at her husband, and I'll show you a couple of freaks of Nature.

No, laughing relaxes you. Completely. Laughing (I'm talking about honest-to-goodness laughter, not the phony kind) banishes all stress, all negative thoughts, all your cares and woes, at least temporarily. That has to be a good thing. And it is.

In fact, did you know that world-renowned medical centers teach that laughing makes you live longer? When it comes to your health and longevity, laughing, it turns out, is no laughing matter. It plays a serious role in your overall well-being.

In fact again, even if you're a pessimistic sourpuss, you can still benefit from humor. **End Summary** Topics: live longer benefits of laughter anti-aging
About the Author:
Dave Tishendorf is a journalist who has written extensively about anti-aging issues.
How to Be Happy and Live Longer

Happy people live longer. That’s the good news.

The not so good news is that there is no definitive explanation of what happiness is, much less how to be happy. There are a lot of theories about what happiness is, and there certainly is no shortage of advice for how to be happy, but all of the theories, all of the advice, have to overcome one perplexing problem:

As humans, we are all extremely complex beings, and to make matters even more difficult for those who would define happiness, we are all different. What makes you happy might make your neighbor furious.

That complexity, that variation in the makeup of the human character, makes it rather difficult to generalize with any effectiveness. Consider the following definitions of happiness:

Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony. – Mahatma Gandhi

Happiness is essentially a state of going somewhere, wholeheartedly, one-directionally, without regret or reservation. – William H. Sheldon

Happiness is different from pleasure. Happiness has something to do with struggling and enduring and accomplishing. **End Summary** Topics: live longer to be happy
About the Author:
Dave Tishendorf is a journalist who has written extensively about anti-aging issues.
Married Men Live Longer - No Joke

Turns out there are several ways of looking at the notion that married men live longer than their unwed brethren.

Some of those ways are silly (at least, I think they’re silly). There’s the old (sexist) joke, for example, that married men live longer than single guys because they don’t have to eat their own cooking. And did you hear that although married men live longer than single men, married men are lot more willing to die? Finally, did you know that married men actually do not live longer than unmarried men, it just seems that way?

Jokes aside, it is true that men who have a spouse outlive single men and even men who are in an intimate relationship but haven’t tied the knot.

Entering into a committed relationship has been referred to as “settling down.” That’s because marriage can be a benefit in emotional and physical ways. When a married man has a problem or is worried about something, his wife is there to offer much needed emotional support. (For the record, the assumption in this and each of the following paragraphs is that husbands also are there for their wives. **End Summary** Topics: live longer to live longer anti aging
About the Author:
Dave Tishendorf is a journalist who has written extensively about anti-aging issues.
Drinkers Live Longer? Well, Some Do

Believe it or not, drinkers tend to live longer. Medical reports have shown that alcohol has health benefits that actually can increase the number of years you hang around.

You probably have heard about the dangers of drinking, but what you may not have heard is that it’s binge drinking that’s dangerous (even deadly).

Drinking alcohol like red wine can lessen your chances of getting hit later in life with some form of heart disease. People who drink beer have less chance of developing problems with their gallbladder.

While drinking too much has been known to cause problems such as cirrhosis of the liver, this is a risk mainly for those who become alcoholics rather than for those who know how to drink responsibly.

You can have drink or two every day and not become an alcoholic. For those who like to have a glass of wine with their meals, the benefits reach far into an advanced age. One of the risks that you can lower by drinking wine is that of developing some types of cancers.

How is that wine can help drinkers live longer? **End Summary** Topics: drinkers live longer live longer moderate drinkers
About the Author:
Please follow this link if you are serious about wanting to live longer .
Want to Live Longer? This Will Help

If you'd like to stay alive longer, and it is fair to guess that desire encompasses almost everyone, the following are 10 actions you can take that will help you reach that goal. As soon as you’ve made all 10 part of your daily life, you’ll feel like a completely new person.

1.	We’ve all come across the statement that you are what you eat, and actually that’s unquestionably accurate.

The foods you eat today will show up on your face and body during the years to come. Because it’s the only physical body you’ll ever have, take care of it by eating the most healthy way. Eat lean meats, keep your portions sensible, get plenty of fluids and eat your vegetables and fruits.

2.	Work up a sweat. Don’t beat yourself up if you can’t engage in physical activity every single day. It’s okay to take a day off. It’s acceptable to work out three days weekly. Something is better than nothing at all. But you’ll find yourself eager to get back to working out if you find an exercise routine that’s enjoyable. **End Summary** Topics: live longer to live longer anti aging
About the Author:
Please follow this link if you are serious about wanting to live longer .
The Best Way To Lose Belly Fat

One thing that most men as well as women consider utterly unappealing when they look in a full-length mirror is their bellies.

Why, they ask themselves, can't I have a flat stomach or a set of "six pack abs" like other people? Why do I have to look like such a fat slob?

And so this flat-stomach ache leads to a vow to do something about it before they head for that beach vacation they're planning next summer. Meanwhile, they find solace in those merciful winter months, when sweatshirts and sweaters can hide those unsightly spare tires.

But losing that midriff mound is possible.

No, there is no mystical formula, no magic bullet, no special secret diet and not even a specific food that takes dead aim at that ugly belly fat.

But the good news is that belly fat usually is the first fat to go when you start to peel off those pounds. And if the lure of Waikiki Beach isn't enough to spur you into action, here is some news that might:

Recent research has associated abdominal fat with cardiovascular disease, diabetes and cancer. **End Summary** Topics: best way to lose belly fat buy primal lean how to lose belly fat lose belly fat quickly primal lean diet pills
About the Author:
And you'll strut on the beach like a proud peacock who has visited this link .

Help For Panic Attacks Is Available

By Dave Tishendorf

If you have ever suffered a panic attack, you know what a frightening experience it is.

Victims of panic attacks often describe the experience as having a feeling they are going mad, or are dying. But these victims may not be aware why the attacks occur, and they may even wonder what a panic attack actually is.

How can you stop from getting panic attacks? The good news is that help for dealing with these attacks is available.

A panic attack is a very sudden but discrete period of intense anxiety. An attack can strike at any time, and most of the time these attacks have no obvious triggers.

To an outsider, these attacks can appear to be random, but more often than not they stem from a wide variety of causes, including heredity, phobias and medication.

Someone who has had a bad experience with water, for example, may become extremely frightened when in or around water, and this fear can build and ultimately result in a panic attack.

The symptoms of a panic attack often can be mistaken for other issues. First-time sufferers, for example, often believe they are having a heart attack. **End Summary** Topics: anxiety attacks coping with panic attacks cure for panic attacks panic attacks panic attacks help
About the Author:
In fact, you can help relieve your panic attacks by following this link .

How To Cure Yeast Infection? Here Are 3 Ways

Learning how to cure yeast infection has to start with knowing what the causes are.

Why?

Basically, because knowledge is power. There are several causes of yeast infection, and you can reduce your chances of getting an infection if you know what those causes are. But if you aren't aware of the causes, your chances of getting an infection are much higher.

But before we get into the causes of yeast infection, let's define what a yeast infection is. And to do that, you have to know a little about fungi (the plural of fungus).

Fungi are rather weird microscopic creatures invisible to the naked eye. They are neither plant nor animal, but they have characteristics of both. They aren't equipped with mouths or teeth, so they feed on organic remains by secreting enzymes to dissolve the organic matter, then reabsorbing the nutrients.

Fungi often are thought of as bad guys, but they have their good points as well. For example, not only are they essential to the decomposition of organic waste matter, they also, as yeast, are what make grandma's homemade bread rise. **End Summary** Topics: best yeast infection treatment buy Yeastrol how to cure yeast infection natural remedies for yeast infections treating yeast infections
About the Author:
For more information about how to cure yeast infection, Click Here .

Reasons To Stop Smoking ... Paul Knew Them All

By Dave Tishendorf

Paul was aware of all the conventional reasons to stop smoking.

I mean, how could you not be, even in the late 1970s, when he and I first met in a midsized city in southern Oregon. By that time, science had already established the dangers of smoking, and information on how to quit cigarettes was everywhere.

I was a working journalist back then, and Paul (not his real name) drove cab. We quickly became good friends. Over the years, Paul and his partner, Sarah, and my then-partner, now-wife, Mary, and I spent a lot of good times together.

The explanation for this writer/cabbie pairing can be found in the folds of community theater. If you have ever been a member of an amateur theater group in a small town, you know what I mean. Cultural lines are blurred there, if not eliminated altogether. Lifelong friendships are formed.

And sometimes love affairs bloom while the seeds of divorce are sown, and marriages are made or broken.

Paul, in fact, had been married and divorced four times when I met him. In a way that I can't fully explain, it was part of his charm. **End Summary** Topics: how to quit cigarettes reasons to stop smoking risks of smoking smoking health risks
About the Author:
Dave Tishendorf is an ex-smoker.
The Dangers Of Ignoring Your Thyroid Health

The thyroid gland is not something most people give much thought to. That is, until it stops functioning the way it should. Then suddenly one's thyroid health becomes very important indeed.

The thyroid gland is located in the throat area, just around the Adam's apple. You can feel it with your fingers, but be gentle. It is a U-shaped gland, and many people may have trouble finding it.

If that's the case, your thyroid gland probably is in pretty good shape, as people with thyroid problems - an underactive or overactive gland - often will have a gland that is large and pronounced. We will discuss overactive and underactive thyroid symptoms in a minute.

Why is it important to maintain a healthy thyroid gland?

Well, for one thing the thyroid gland carries a very heavy load. It regulates several systems in your body.
