The lemonade cleanser diet goes by several names, including the Stanley Burroughs cleanse, the cayenne pepper cleanse, the lemonade cleanse, and the lemon fast. It was invented by Stanley Burroughs in 1941. Burroughs referred to it as the Master Cleanse. According to Burroughs, the lemonade cleanser diet is a detoxification program which cleans the body of harmful toxins, which can assist with everything from weight loss to curing cancer. It's also been claimed that this diet removes cravings for stuff like sugar, tobacco, and alcohol. Burroughs himself claimed that his Master Cleanse could cure pretty much anything. So what exactly does the diet consist of? It's probably the simplest diet in the world, actually. It's a mixture of fresh squeezed lemon juice, grade B maple syrup, cayenne pepper, and mineral water. You drink 6 glasses of this mixture daily for 10 days or so. That's it. Oh yea . . . and you can't eat anything for those 10 days. Is there a downside to the lemonade cleanser diet? It's one of worst things a network marketer can hear from a downline member. I've woken up in cold sweats, praying it never happens to me again. I take steps to ensure my downline has the resources they need to keep this from happening to them. I remember the words, no so long ago, of Sheila, a former downline member of mine. "I have to quit. One day when I was a kid, I ate a whole bunch of little green apples from my grandma's tree in her back yard. About twenty minutes later, my belly started to hurt. Like most little boys do, I ran to my mom, and she held me and told me it would feel better after I went to the bathroom. She was right. These days when I hurt, I usually go the doctor. And, even though he doesn't make me feel as warm and cozy as my mom, usually he does something to make me feel better. In contrast to what most of us believe, pain is not the enemy. Pain is a warning light that tells us something needs to be done. Whether it's rest, medicine, massage, or surgery, some action needs to be taken. It's like the "check engine" light in your car. When I was a kid, boy could I dream. I was going to play professional football, be a cop, and a rock star. The day I learned what integrity really meant changed my life. The hot, July sun beat down on my bald head and arms that day like a blanket of fire. Drill Sergeants yelled, and my fellow soldiers and I performed as best we could to avoid their wrath. Nothing we did was good enough, though, and we knew it never would be. We just tried not to let our screw-ups draw much attention. This particular day, we performed rifle drills. The rule was that if you messed up, you had to drop and do 20 push ups. Well, several of us made several mistakes, but 10 Drill Sergeants had their hands full with 200 Privates, and didn't catch it every time we did something wrong. One not so bright soldier asked a Drill Sergeant, "What happens if we mess up and nobody catches it?" The Drill Sergeant's answer blew me away. All he said was "Integrity." Obviously, I wasn't the only one affected by his words, because about half the company dropped and did push ups. Richard, one of my therapy clients, just laughed when I told him his business idea sounded great. He had such little faith in himself, he believed that nothing he could come up with would amount to anything. Unfortunately, I see a lot of people who suffer from self esteem issues similar to Richard's. But there's more. It's been said that all of us are born geniuses. The problem is, most of us don't know it. We believe what the world outside of us dictates to us. It reminds me of a Buddhist monk I once met who told me that the difference between an enlightened being and an unenlightened being is that the enlightened being knows he's enlightened. So, what is this creativity thing, anyway? Creativity can be defined as improvement. No, you don't have to be an artist or a musician to be creative. In fact, it's been estimated that the average person comes up with three or four ideas every day that, if followed through, would lead to infinite wealth. A client of mine asked me today about the law of attraction. She told me she'd read a bunch of books about it, seen some movies, but somehow it just didn't seem to work for her. She kept thinking positive thoughts, saying dozens of affirmations every day but, after six months of doing those things, nothing in her life had changed. She wanted to know what she was doing wrong. With so much stuff out there these days, it's almost impossible to separate what's real from what's just plain crap. If This Article Sucks, It's All Your Fault

I'm damaged goods. I was raised by imperfect parents and educated by teachers who were verbally abusive, ignorant of the power they possessed to inflict unspeakable damage on young minds. My peers in school taunted and picked fights with me. I'm scarred, bruised, and still in pain. I spent a large part of my life blaming my past for problems I experience today. When I became a therapist, however, I started to question my own mindset, and the validity of my thinking. I realized that I was using my past trauma as a tool to hold me down, to keep me from achieving my potential. People who had probably forgotten about me long ago were being credited for my lack of success. When I realized this, I made it a point to stop blaming outside influences, including people and circumstances, and to start looking more inward. It's impossible to change the past. All I could do was accept it, gather the tools I have right now, and get on with my life without looking back. This requires focusing on the present, being in the moment at all times. Goal Setting--The Basics

I'm amazed at the amount of research that shows that people who set goals are much more successful than those who don't. And yet, I meet so many people who have no idea where they're going, or even the first clue about how to set and achieve goals. To most, goals are synonymous with dreams. But there's a big difference. When you set a goal, it's important that you stretch yourself. Don't make it impossible to achieve, but don't make it easy, either. Set it to where you'll have to work harder than you are right now to bring it to fruition. It should be difficult, but doable. If you consistently set your sights too high you'll get discouraged, and want to quit. To be effective, your goals must be written down. I cannot overemphasize how important this is. A goal that's not written down isn't really a goal at all; it's just a pipedream which will probably never see the light of day. Writing your goals and reviewing them daily is a practice virtually every successful person I've ever met have in common. When Shyness Is No Longer Cute

When we hear that somebody is shy, we sometimes think it's cute, like a little boy who's afraid to say hello to strangers. Shyness, however, can be a debilitating disorder and anything but funny. All of us are shy to a certain extent, but when it starts interfering with your personal or professional life, it gets serious. So, what exactly is shyness? Well, there are several components, and all of them deal with how we think. Most severely shy people are extremely self-conscious, especially when in public and around others. They may feel judged or ridiculed, or that everyone in the room notices their big nose or some other imperfection. All eyes are on them, and that's not good. They focus on their imperfections, and always view themselves negatively. They believe that everything they do in the presence of others is wrong. Shyness usually goes hand in hand with a weak self image. This is usually formed as a child. The child might feel inferior to others or intimidated, and start to believe that he is somehow not good enough. Your Subconscious Mind--Liberator Or Captor?

In 1994, I began studying the subconscious mind. I became a hypnotherapist, and hypnotized thousands of people. I've done everything from past-life regressions and exorcisms to more traditional therapy work. I've helped a lot of people do some pretty amazing things by way of their subconscious mind. I guess that's why it irks me when I hear and read about the subconscious from people who obviously don't have a clue. When I hear the subconscious described as a kind of "Savior," I almost want to laugh. Don't get me wrong. A properly channeled subconscious mind can literally work miracles. A couple weeks ago, I did something I hadn't done in a while. I bought leads. Not just any leads, mind you, these were good leads. Expensive leads. What they call "Real time leads." I guess they call them that because as soon as the lead responds to an ad, fills out a form, or whatever, they contact me. It was perfect. Or so it seemed . . . Now, I know there are some out there who have had tremendous success calling leads. Friends of mine who are super successful today got there by calling leads. I guess they have some magic that I neither possess nor understand, because I've never had one bit of success calling leads. None. In fact, most leads I've called fit into one of three categories, none of which helped my self esteem or built my business. The first category is the largest. About 80% of the phone numbers I called gave me voicemail. This was no big deal. My company had given me a voicemail script. It was short, to the point, and was easy to deliver. I started getting tired of voicemail, though. Never Pass On A Chance To Fail

Alex, a very dear friend of mine, once said that the "fear of failure belongs in the realm of the pauper and the fool." His logic was that the only way not to fail is not to try. If you never try anything, you may not risk failure in the short term, but in the long run your whole life becomes a failure. Which is the greater catastrophe? And that's not all. Now Alex, though far from being handsome, would approach the prettiest woman in the club to ask her to dance. Yes, most refused, but many more than I would have guessed agreed. He never approached a woman with the attitude, "she'll do." I never saw him with a woman who wasn't ravishing. But Alex didn't stop there. He approached his business the same way. He began network marketing in the late 1970's. He initially lost $12,000.00 on a company that went belly up six months after he joined. So, he joined another network marketing company. The Language Of The Subconscious Mind

As a hypnotherapist, many people ask me about visualization. Most want to know how it works, while others have tried it without any results. To be sure, there are a lot of books out there that make it seem much easier than what it really is. Still, it's far from difficult, and if you want something bad enough, I guarantee you that it will work for you. Firstly, though, I just want to say that I have trouble with the word, "visualization." Mostly because that word suggests that you're using only your vision. That's not at all true, as you're about to find out. The purpose of visualization is to create a change in your subconscious mind, that part of your mind which runs in the background. It's responsible for beating your heart, breathing, healing, and a lot of other things. You're seldom aware of it, yet it controls your entire being. To influence your subconscious mind, however, you must know it's language. Words and numbers mean nothing to it. Logic is foreign to it. It's the realm of emotion and creativity. Attitude Is Key--Or Is It?

If you've seen the movie or read the book, "The Secret," then you know about the Law of Attraction. To greatly simplify, according to the book and movie, what you think about is what you manifest. In fact, above all else, your attitude determines your entire life. A positive attitude will attract those people and circumstances that are helpful and supportive, while a negative attitude will bring you those things you'd rather not have. I don't buy it. Why? Because practically speaking, it doesn't hold water. I've seen plenty of successful, wealthy people whose attitudes were atrocious. Displaying the utmost in rudeness and arrogance, these people enjoy constant pampering, living life as if it were one long vacation. Opportunity after opportunity falls in their laps, each promising millions of dollars in profits. And the truly maddening part of all this is that they don't even seem to be trying. They scowl at those around them as if they were insects to be swatted. They care nothing for their fellow man. It just happens for these people. Yet, according to "The Secret," this cannot be. Practical Attraction--How It's Really Done

It's an age-old concept . . . Lots of people talk about attraction and how important it is. Not many, though, talk about how to actually do this. That ends now. If you're not attracting what you want, then you've got to change your thoughts. Now, you can't just decide one day that you're going to start thinking differently. It doesn't work like that. Why? Because your thoughts are governed by your beliefs. Your beliefs are like a program running in your background. They never stop. They are created by life experiences. To change a belief then, we've got to create a new experience. How do we do that? The most effective way to accomplish this that I've found is by creating what we hypnotherapists call a "false memory." You see, your subconscious mind doesn't know the difference between what's real and what's imagined, and it's there that we need to make our mark. The subconscious mind, you see, replays events over and over, and keeps bringing those same events back into our lives. Are You Stuck In One Cycle After Another? Blame The Law Of Attraction

Why Is Network Marketing So Hard?

Contrary to all the sensational claims, all the ads screaming, "Easy Money, Just Click Here!", and all the smooth talking videos, network marketing is hard. There, I said it. Anybody who's tried it already knows this. If it's not hard, then why do upwards of 95% of the people who try it fail? So what makes it so hard? Mostly, the companies themselves are to blame. Most company training that I've been a part of has been positively atrocious. They focus almost exclusively on their product and how to present this product to others. They seldom mention how to find people who'll actually listen to what you have to say. Instead of teaching you how to identify your target market, companies are notorious for blabbering nonsense like "everybody is your prospect." They then tell you to put flyers on cars, hound your friends and family, and exercise the 3-foot-rule. NOTE: Anybody who has not used the 3-foot-rule, you really don't know what you're missing. Another tactic more slightly evolved companies suggest is to buy lead lists and cold call. How To Use Video Effectively

I watched a video on YouTube a few minutes ago. A very large man spoke about how important leadership is to your network marketing success. His holey ACDC t-shirt almost covered his navel, and he looked like he hadn't shaved in days. Then, just as I was about to stop the video, he broke into this dance. I called my wife into the room, and we laughed until we almost cried. My face still hurts. His video, while entertaining, was not very informative. I can't even tell you the gist of what he was trying to say. He had personality, though, and lots of it. By contrast, I've seen many videos that literally caused my eyes to close. People whose personalities were so dry, their voices so monotonous, I can just think about those videos and get sleepy. Does making a video really have to be such a chore? My answer: No it does not. In fact, if making your video is a chore, it will definitely come through in the final product. About 2 years ago now, I joined another network marketing company. During the previous 5 or so years, I'd given up on my network marketing dreams, of financial freedom, and of living the life I've always wanted. After reading a particularly inspiring Robert Kiyosaki book, however, I decided to give network marketing another shot. After all, I reasoned, with the Internet, things had changed. I recently discovered an awesome way to generate leads, network, and make new friends all at the same time. It's so obvious, I don't know why I never thought of it before. It's got nothing to do with social networking sites or joining any group. What I'm talking about is safelists. You may or may not be familiar with safelists. Safelists are groups of people who have agreed to receive your ads via email, in exchange for them being able to send you ads. Pretty simple, eh? Now ordinarily, the problem is this: I've gotten over 20,000 safelist emails in my inbox in just one day! Even if I wanted to, there's no way I could possibly read all those, right? So that means that most of the ads sent by safelisters are wasted effort. Or are they? What I'm about to share with you made a world of difference in my business. It's beauty lies in it's simplicity. When I get online, I usually look for information. Yea, I buy some things here and there, and do business online. But when I'm surfing on my own time, it's usually to find new recipes for salmon, how to upload a video to my blog, or who was the winning general in the Battle of the Bulge. I know I'm not alone. People are hungry for information and, with the Internet, almost anything they want to know awaits a click of the mouse. What an age we live in! The exciting thing about this is that the marketers who fully understand this and constantly give away free, valuable content now make very lucrative incomes. Nowhere else has it ever been more obvious that the more you give, the more you receive. And all this giving translates to long term income. For instance, articles that I wrote over a year ago and posted on some submission sites still bring me large amounts of traffic even today. How do you get in on the action? Why Consistency Is King

A few months ago, Jeff, who is in my upline told me that he had received 29 autoresponders without a single sign-up. Now, our team average is 1 sign-up for every 7 autoresponders, so he was due. He said he wasn't doing anything differently. Still working the same safelists, traffic exchanges, and list builders, but without the usual results. Had it been me, I would have tried something different. Different ads, different lists, do more stuff. How To Deal With Voicemail When Prospecting

When I first started in network marketing, I just assumed that every time I dialed the phone I'd be talking to a live person. Like so many other people in this industry, I found myself unprepared, not realizing how many people do not answer their phones when an unrecognizable number calls. Statistics show that 60%-70% of your phone prospecting will be answered by voicemail. I can say for certain, and you probably can too, that when a strange number shows on my caller ID, I do not answer it. Period. I listen, however, to the voicemail message. When you think about it, it really makes sense. I mean, with all the bothersome telemarketers trained to keep you on the phone as long as they can, why not use any tool at your disposal to avoid them? I know I do. Caller ID and voicemail are our friends. So, what's a real marketer to do? How do we reach our prospects, letting them know that we're not the typical annoying salesman trying to sell them something they don't need?
