Easter Bunnies at Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel

This year Good Friday falls on 22nd April 2011 with Easter Sunday on the 24th and Easter Monday on the 25th April 2011. At this time of year the weather in the Lake District is actually surprising good, well usually anyway! But the better weather spring weather gives a chance to show off the beautiful gardens of Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel as all of the pretty flowers like daffodils are blooming and the trees are coming to life again. This weather usually allows the perfect opportunity for some outdoor pursuits or for the not so confident a chance to hang onto the last of those cosy, comfortable days indoors.

There are many Country House Hotels Windermere but few with such beautiful gardens and views as Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel. The gardens are incredibly special as they were designed by Thomas Mawson who was born in Scorton, Lancashire on the 5th May 1861. He had a real passion for gardens and after moving to Windermere from London after the death of his father he set up his own business called Lakeland Nurseries with his two brothers. This garden is perfect for Windermere Easter breaks and Easter Egg Hunts. **End Summary** Topics: Windermere Easter breaks Country House Hotels Windermere
About the Author:
Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel has beautiful grounds to enjoy the spring weather and Windermere Easter breaks.

Experience Gaelic Games

There are people that do not even know what Gaelic Games are; they are the traditional sports that are played in Ireland. The two main Gaelic Sports are Hurling and Gaelic football, both of which games are organized by the Gaelic Athletic Association. There are other games that used which are rounders and Gaelic handball. Sadly during the late 19th century in Ireland a lot of these Gaelic games were starting to die out. Luckily, the decline was stopped in its tracks and reversed by the Gaelicr Athletic Association and the Gaelic Revival.

The most popular Gaelic games Dublin today are Hurling and Gaelic football. Adults and children can play and there are several age groups, from the under 8’s to the under 18’s and then men and women of all ages. Gaelic sports Dublin are very popular and the largest of the matches can attract up to 40,000 spectators per game. This is usually on the weekend club matches that are played in every town and village of Ireland. The Croke Park stadium based close to the city centre of Dublin attracts 82,500 every September when the All-Ireland Finals are played. **End Summary** Topics: Gaelic Games Gaelic Sports Gaelic games Dublin Gaelic spo
About the Author:
Experience Gaelic Games can offer a real taste of traditional Irish sport.

Ambleside Guest House Walkers Safe with Langdale Rescue Team on Hand

The Old Vicarage is a beautiful Ambleside Guest House conveniently located in Ambleside which is where the Langdale Mountain Rescue Team are also based. This gives the residents that are keen walkers a reassuring piece of mind when they venture out onto the mountains and fells of the Lake District. The service has been in action for many years, even decades. Records date back to 1930 from when people were interviewed about walkers disappearing into the hills and never returning.

In those days of course the service was somewhat limited in comparison to nowadays. The rescuers were predominantly farmers or anyone else that was nearby and had time to help. Understandably the equipment was limited, there are even records of five bar iron gates that were used as stretchers to carry the injured off the mountains.

In the 1950’s there was a large increase in the amount of people that were interested in rock climbing and so the sport really took off, which meant the mountain rescue service was an absolute necessity as opposed to just being there to help out occasionally. **End Summary** Topics: The Old Vicarage Ambleside Guest Houses Guest House Amblesid
About the Author:
The Old Vicarage is comfortable Ambleside Guest House.
Thomas Mawson Designed Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel Beautiful Gardens

Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel is home to some beautiful, tranquil and artistically designed gardens. There are many Bowness Hotels but few that can boast gardens that were designed by the late Thomas Mawson. His work was not particularly well known but he was an incredibly influential designer of gardens. He was born in May 1861 in Scorton near Lancaster and due to poverty he had to leave school aged 12 and work for his unlce who was a builder. It was from this work that his love of gardening grew.

Following his father’s death he relocated to London with his mother where he worked in nurseries. He then moved to the Lake District; Windermere to be specific. It was here that he set up a nursery business called Lakeland Nurseries, he did this with his two brothers. This was a lucrative business and from this point Thomas started to concentrate on the actual design of gardens. He designed some fantastic gardens which include Holker Hall, Langdale Chase, Graythwaite Hall, Brockhole and Holehird.

In 1909 he designed the formal garden at Rydal Hall which was very spectacular. His designs traditionally included both planting and architecture. **End Summary** Topics: Lake Windermere Hotels Hotels in Windermere Bowness Hotels
About the Author:
Anyone looking for the finest Luxury Lake Windermere Hotels should consider Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel just outside Bowness-on-Windermere, overlooking Lake Windermere.

The History of Brooklands Motor Racing Circuit

The Brooklands motor racing circuit and aerodrome was opened in 1907. It made history as it was the first ever purpose built motor race circuit that was banked in the world. In Britain motorists were restricted to a 20mph speed limit and Brooklands was so popular due to the high speeds that could be reached. Sadly the last race was in 1939 and it was the outbreak of the war that put a stop to any further racing. Brooklands was also one of the first airfields in Britain created by Hugh Locke-King and was also opened in 1907. In 1939 the whole site was handed over to the wartime manufacture of military aircraft. The track was badly damaged due to bombings and was also covered by dispersal hangers and as such the racing never returned.

Brooklands was always the home of revolutionary aviation development until British Aerospace ended producing aircraft in 1987. Today the site is home to the Brooklands Museum; a motoring and major aviation museum, which was founded by the Brooklands Museum Trust that was formed in 1987. The purpose was to preserve the traditions and spirit of the heritage destination that it is today. **End Summary** Topics: Hotel Weybridge Chertsey Surrey Brooklands Hotel
About the Author:
Brooklands Hotel is one of the newest luxury Surrey hotels, located at the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit near Weybridge and Cobham, in Surrey

Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel Re-launches its Website

At last Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel has a revamped website that now accurately reflects the hotel. It includes additional information on the hotel and improved photography, along with video footage. The website will be changed regularly with new offers, deals and updates that are made to the hotel. Hopefully more information will be added in the near future and would be happy to be guided by the customer.

Lindeth Fell is one of the most spectacular hotels in Windermere and was built in 1909 primarily as a private residence. It was later converted by the current owners, the Kennedy Family in the late 1970s and has been open to guests ever since. Of course the hotel has changed radically over those years to meet the needs to customers with high expectations and the family and their dedicated team attempt to achieve this every day.

There are many Bowness Hotels but the nice thing about Lindeth Fell is that it is a homely yet professional 14 bedroom hotel where guests can enjoy the views across Lake Windermere to the Coniston Mountain Range, the highest point being The Old Man of Coniston ~ 2635 feet. **End Summary** Topics: Windermere Hotels Hotel Windermere Hotels in Windermere
About the Author:
Anyone looking for the finest Luxury Windermere Hotels should consider Lindeth Fell Country House Hotel just outside Bowness-on-Windermere, overlooking Lake Windermere.

There are many good Lake District hotels to choose from. But Rothay Garden really does stand out. "An oasis of luxury on the edge of Grasmere" said the Nottingham Evening Post. Rothay Garden provides the comfort, quality and peace and quiet that people are looking for. Many guests choose to stay two or three times a year in the Luxury Lake District Hotel, taking the chance to see the Lake District in different seasons, and to enjoy the comfort and excellent food that marks the difference between a simple break away from home and a memorable holiday to treasure.

The Grasmere Hotel is nestled within the beautiful village that has withstood the test of time and still holds onto its own individual charm and character. Grasmere was the home to the poet William Wordsworth for many years and the public can now view his former homes; Rydal Mount and Dove Cottage and tour around the fascinating museum. Visitors are also interested to visit St. Oswald’s Church, which is home to the Wordsworth family graves. **End Summary** Topics: Lake District Hotels Grasmere Hotel Luxury Lake District
About the Author:
Rothay Garden offers a relaxing and comfortable stay in one of the four star Lake District Hotels.
The Old Vicarage Ambleside Guest House Now Has an Indoor Swimming Pool

The Lake District is best known for its lakes but there is also a phenomenal amount of walking that can be enjoyed by all abilities. It is easy to find something suitable for all abilities, ranging from a gentle ramble, a mountain walk or an exhilarating high-level traverse.

Although the area is relatively small, Cumbria is home to England’s only five peaks over 900 metres high. Scarfell Pike is the highest mountain in England and is within the Lake District National Park. The area is also famous for its mountaineering opportunities as it is the centre of English rock climbing and the country’s most popular upland walking area. It is also possible to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and discover truly wild and secluded landscapes that are rarely visited by walkers. There are lots of places for the more experienced walker to enjoy, from isolated tarns, windswept summits, rushing streams, lofty ridges and sheer crags.

The views of the lakes and mountains can be enjoyed from the Ambleside Guest House, The Old Vicarage. It is only two minutes from Ambleside town centre which means Grasmere, Windermere and Keswick are all within easy reach. **End Summary** Topics: Ambleside BB Ambleside Bed and Breakfast Ambleside Guest
About the Author:
The Old Vicarage offers a comfortable Ambleside Bed and Breakfast.
The winners of the 2009 Cumbria Tourism Awards were revealed at a special ceremony in Kendal this month – and Rothay Garden Hotel was the proud winner of one of the most important awards of the year – the Lady Inglewood Award for Innovative People Management.

Tourism professionals and businesses from around Cumbria gathered as the winners were announced by actor and broadcaster, Ted Robbins. The prizes recognised excellence both in business and in people and each category winner received a certificate and specially designed award.

The Lady Inglewood Award is given to “a tourism business whose investment in innovative people management, training and development has directly contributed to improvements in business performance”. In a gesture in keeping with the spirit of the award, Chris Carss asked Andrew Burton, Head Chef, and Victoria Bailey, Deputy Manager, to go up on stage to collect the award on behalf of the hotel and the whole team.

Chris said “I’m especially pleased to win this award, as it is an important recognition of the extra training and development opportunities which all the staff took advantage of during our redevelopment period last year. **End Summary** Topics: Grasmere Hotel Hotels in Grasmere Hotels in the Lake Distr
About the Author:
http://www.rothaygarden.com

The Worsley Arms Hotel; Touring from Hotels Near York

Location, location, location goes the mantra and where better than to have a short break in North Yorkshire than a traditional hotel in the North York Moors.

The Worsley Arms Hotel is situated in the wonderful village of Hovingham, near to Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Pickering and is one of the finest hotels near York.

Hovingham sits on the edge of the Howardian Hills and is a civil parish in Ryedale - a district of North Yorkshire. The village itself has formed around Hovingham Hall, home to the Worsley family since 1563. The sixth Thomas Worsley designed and built the current Hovingham Hall, now occupied by the great, great, great, great, great grandson of William Worsley and his family.

The Worsley Arms Hotel was originally built to house guests attending the local Spa, which is sadly no longer in existence. Fortunately, the hotel remains and is an excellent base from which to explore North Yorkshire, the North York Moors, The Yorkshire coast and the city of York. If you're considering a variety of North Yorkshire Hotels, then this friendly three star hotel, with award-winning restaurant, could be right up your street. **End Summary** Topics: Hotels near York North Yorkshire Hotels Hotel in N Y Moors
About the Author:
http://www.worsleyarms.co.uk
