Favoritism: The Damage that Can be Caused and How to Repair It

We all know what it is like to feel a deeper emotion for one person than for another. Sometimes that person is a friend or even a family member. When that person is an adult, it can be hurtful to be the ‘less favored’ one: when that person is a child, real damage might be inflicted and this can have a permanent, long reaching effect on the child’s emotional health. Psychological articles show that baby boomers are as susceptible to human failings as anyone else and ‘favoring’ one child over another should be noted and stopped at earliest opportunity to avoid a long lasting effect.

The problem is: do we know we are doing this? Are we aware that our adoration of, say, a son over a daughter or vice versa, might be ruining the childhood experience of an innocent child? **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers psychological articles spoiling favoritism
About the Author:
Dr. Karen Turner , PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.
The Cuckoo in the Nest: Welcoming a Step Grandchild to Your Family

Psychological articles tell us that the painful introduction of a child into your family who is not ‘of your blood’ can cause havoc and heartbreak for everyone concerned if the situation is not dealt with in a sensitive and diplomatic manner. For many baby boomers who are in a position where their son has divorced and remarried, the arrival of the new wife’s child into the family from her previous marriage sometimes causes a great deal of resentment.

Baby boomer’s daughters whose marriages break up have a different set of problems to address: their difficulties do not usually include the necessary marginalizing of the maternal grandparents. For sons it is quite different, as children traditionally reside with their mother; hence the husband’s parents sometimes suffer deep loss when grandchildren move away and contact, however frequent it may have been in the past, is limited or even denied completely.

On the heels of the heartache of losing much loved grandchildren comes the interloper; the child of the son’s new wife; the cuckoo in the nest. **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers psychological articles grandchildren divorce
About the Author:
Dr Karen Turner, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.
What is Co-dependency?

Many times, we know there’s something wrong in our lives; we just can’t identify exactly what it is. That’s the way it is with co-dependency. In this psychological article we will discuss the signs and symptoms of co-dependency; one of those psychological disorders that we hear a lot about but never even consider whether we might be afflicted with it. We don’t know what it is exactly and we don’t care because we’re certain that it’s not something we have to worry about.

It may surprise you to learn that millions of Americans suffer from co-dependency and don’t even know it. It’s actually easy to see how that could happen once you know a little about this.

The first and most important reason for this is that co-dependency is a learned behavior, passed down from one generation to the next. Since you saw this type of behavior on a regular basis in your own home, it doesn’t feel strange to you at all.

It becomes clear that co-dependent people come from dysfunctional families: this is probably the second most important reason why a person can go for years with this psychological disorder and never realize it. **End Summary** Topics: psychological articles co-dependency psychological disorder
About the Author:
Dr. Karen Turner , PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.
Symptoms of Codependency

Psychological articles dealing with codependency issues point out that a co-dependent’s obsessive behavior towards the dependent family member or friend can be very intrusive. The co-dependent person might care so much that it becomes a psychological obsession, making the other person feel their boundaries are being violated and even experience the perception of feeling emotionally assaulted. Such a relationship is usually seriously unhealthy to all parties involved.
First, one must be aware of co-dependence symptoms in order to combat the disorder. A co-dependent, while appearing too close to another person is actually avoiding true intimacy. While boasting of personal perfection, the reality is that the co-dependent is really distrustful, hyper-vigilant, and strives to obsessively control another’s behavior at the psychological expense of the other person; even subjecting his dependent person to debilitating physical or emotional abuse in order to maintain the status quo and perpetuate the “unhealthy” mutual dependency. Most extreme cases of co-dependence are accompanied by depression; as the relationship is mutually destructive and frustrating.
Signs of Co-dependency
The thoughts and feelings of a co-dependence lead to destructive behavior that can cause pain not only to the co-dependent but to others as well. **End Summary** Topics: psychological articles codelendency symptoms baby boomers
About the Author:
Dr Karen Turner, PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.

The Younger Heart in the Elderly Mind

Elderly bodies sometimes carry a tragic burden: a younger heart.

Everyone has heard the phrase, ‘Mutton Dressed as Lamb’ or ‘There’s Life in the Old Dog Yet’ – not always in a complimentary context. Such expressions are usually used to describe an elderly person, probably experiencing elderly problems and trying to push away the unpleasantness of advanced age by emulating a much younger person: a younger version of oneself.

A prettier and more energetic model of the elderly reality is certainly something everyone might like to experience, if only science would hurry up and make such a thing possible. Unfortunately, life just does not work that way and elderly problems set in despite our resolve not to have anything to do with them!

The quest for the fountain of youth is some way from complete, even in the modern age of cosmetic enhancement and plastic surgery. Any number of processes designed to halt the aging process might be tried with limited success but none will prevent the inevitable stampede and triumph of time over physical endurance.

From late middle age, the human form deteriorates in body and brain. **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers elderly problems aging aging process youth old
About the Author:
Dr. Karen Turner , PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.
Look At Me! Paying Attention To The Baby Boomer with Histrionic Personality Disorder

Many of we Baby Boomers may have gone through our lives without even hearing about histrionic personality disorder. The reason is that it not easily identifiable and even when recognized may just be seen as a personality trait, (i.e., ‘drama queen’ behavior) rather than a disorder. There is, however, a difference between a personality trait and a disorder. According to the American Psychiatric Associations Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, (DSM-IV) Disorders tend to impede ‘normal’ functioning and require professional help in order to change.

As the name suggests, people with histrionic personality disorder tend to be ‘dramatic’, showing more emotion than average. They are always seeking attention and will do just about anything to get it. This desire often causes them to behave inappropriately in work and social situations. They tend to excel in jobs that give them a lot of room to be creative and struggle with anything that requires deep analytical and/or logical thinking. They can be wonderful actors as they love the spotlight; and very poor assistants as they need attention and are not good at being in a ‘supporter’ position.

Histrionic personality disorder can cause persons to have trouble maintaining any kind of intimate relationship. **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers psychological articles personality disorder
About the Author:
Dr. Karen Turner , PhD, is a clinical psychologist with an interest in the baby boomer generation as the most successful and resourceful of all generations.
Elderly Problems for the Co-dependent Parents

Apart from many other elderly problems, co-dependent parents can unknowingly ruin their child’s future development out of over love and care. We see that many psychologically healthy parents spend their lives taking care of their children and wish to retire when the children have grown up. However, co-dependent parents don't do this. They do not accept the fact that their child has grown up and still treat him/her as a little kid. They don’t let up: not relaxing the authority and responsibility they showed when their child was still young, they continue to hover or “helicopter “around their adult offspring.

Most of the times, the kids feel insecure and uncomfortable with the extreme love and care given by co-dependent parents. Such elderly problems are harmful for both the child and the parent. While the co-dependent parents might want to be helpful and look after the needs of the child, however, when co-dependent affection is shown, the child might feel insecure, nervous, and self-doubting. Hence it discourages the child’s independent thought and activities. **End Summary** Topics: elderly problems
About the Author:
www.BoomerYearBook.com is a psychological-informational social

The present day world and world population can be aptly referred to as the one that desires love and intimacy. And baby boomers of today are coming forward to prove this fact all over again. There is no subject in the present day society which is completely free of any kind of misconception or myth. The fact that baby boomers are one of those classes of people in the world, who have not just a healthy sex life, but a rocking life in the bed, goes on to testify to this.
A research-based study which commenced in the year 2004, testifies to the fact that baby boomers were largely successful in maintaining that special spark in their sex life. The research study was based on the opinions of 1700 different respondents, and all the respondents of the study were above the age of forty five years. The respondent population consulted took the interests as well as the opinions of at least three fourth of the entire population of world baby boomers, which stands at a staggering figure of seventy eight million. The study confirms that baby boomers had a super sex life and enjoyed their sexual sessions to the core. **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers
About the Author:
www.BoomerYearBook.com is a psychological-informational social

Sometimes, we feel that something is wrong in our lives but are unable to identify its cause; and one psychological cause can be what is referred to as co-dependency. Co-dependency is a psychological disorder found in people of any age but can be specially categorized as an elderly problem. It is a behavior pattern wherein the person gives more importance to the needs of others than his own. People suffering from codependent behaviors often have relationship problems.

Many people know that co-dependency is a psychological disorder but not many of them realize that it can happen to them. It is a surprising fact that many people in the world are affected with co-dependency but they are not aware of it. It is easy to identify co-dependency, an increasing elderly problem, once you are aware of its symptoms and characteristics.

Psychological articles suggest that co-dependency results from childhood problems; often handed down from one generation to the next. It also appears to be a frequently documented psychological fact that co-dependent people come from dysfunctional families. **End Summary** Topics: elderly problem.
About the Author:
www.BoomerYearBook.com is a psychological-informational social

Co-dependency has become quite common in present day relationships. If you consider the webmasters definition of the word or refer to any expert from psychological articles, you shall find it as follows: “one needing another in a relationship which is highly addictive”. From the very early on, co-dependency has been one of the roots of many personal and professional relationships. For instance, there is co-dependency between farmers and the sellers and factory owners and workers. These types of co-dependencies have been duly accepted and considered normal and healthy. But when co-dependencies show up in personal relationships between life companions or friends, then the relationship comes under scrutiny and becomes a question of psychological “ill” health.
The reason co–dependency can become the root cause of many subsequent problems is due to the addictive nature of a co-dependent relationship. When two or more individuals are in a co–dependent relationship, the members tend to lean on each other and sometimes, this dependency crosses way over the line. According to psychological articles, it is in these situations that co–dependent relationships start to become more fragile. **End Summary** Topics: psychological articles.
About the Author:
www.BoomerYearBook.com is a psychological-informational social

How to get over jealousy?

Jealousy is a poisonous feeling which has the potential to ruin a relationship. Often you may not even realize the fact that you are jealous by mistaking it for possessiveness or a sign of deep love. Feeling jealous occasionally is understandable but when it starts stalking your relationship and becomes the root cause of almost all your arguments, it becomes hazardous not just for your own health but also the health of your relationship.

How to figure out that your jealousy is potentially hazardous?

If you see your partner talking to someone else, does your imagination run into overdrive?

Do you feel inadequate compared to other women/men?

Have you become a slave to your negative thinking, often visualizing your partner cheating on you?

Are you constantly comparing yourself with other people?

Boomers Building tolerance- Understanding people of different religions

Terrorism in the name of religion, riots in god’s name, killing innocents for not worshipping a particular god, hatred or dislike for people of a particular religion, looking at worshippers of a certain god with suspicion….unfortunately such is the reality of today’s world.

Religion is a personal choice which is supposed to bring peace of mind and guide you to your life’s purpose. Loving god should encourage you to love everything he/she has created…yet why is there so much destruction and violence in the name of religion? Perhaps it’s because we focus on our differences more than our similarities. We look for ways to hate others because they are different from us. We use religion to create Us” and Them”. Religion is something that can actually unite all humanity; it’s only a matter of how we choose to view it.

Religions are like books with different covers, names and supposedly different philosophies, but if you read between the lines, you'll observe that every religion promotes and encourages the same basic virtues. Let’s examine the similarities one by one:

*Reap as you sow- Every religion believes in this concept, though the names given to it may differ. **End Summary** Topics: religion people understanding baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Curing chronic back ache through positive affirmations

When you are enslaved by pain, fulfillment and happiness turn elusive. A chronic back ache can make your life miserable. If the cause of your back pain is an injury or strain on the spinal cord or back muscles, you know what you need to do to get rid of it. But what if you don’t know what’s causing those muscle spasms and aches? Your problem then becomes even more difficult to deal with, since without knowing the cause it’s difficult to figure out the cure. It may sound unlikely or hard to believe but You” may be the cause of your chronic back pain!

Sometimes our aches and pains are caused by our negative thinking. In order to understand how our negative thought process affects us physically we need to understand the symbolism of our bodies. Our back supports our body and therefore symbolizes our support system”. Whenever we perceive a problem in this support system, for instance feeling bogged down by stress, responsibilities, financial tensions, or feeling our loved ones are not supporting us, our support system” starts feeling the pain. Therefore to get rid of it we need to let go of our negative beliefs. **End Summary** Topics: chronic backaches positive emotions healthy baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Health and negativity- How negative emotions harm your health?

Our negative thoughts can wreck havoc on our physical and mental health. While the effects on our mental health are obvious, most of us ignore or do not understand how negativity takes a toll on our physical well being. We all know that negative emotions add to our stress levels, we are also aware of the fact the prolonged anxiety and stress can lead to heart diseases and many psychological problems, but what we don't understand or are perhaps unaware of is the fact that negative emotions have physical manifestations on our health! Feelings like anger, insecurity, anxiety, jealousy etc can not only trigger aches, pains, or illness in the body but can also hamper our recovery.

To be able to understand how our negative emotions affect our health we need to be aware of the symbolism of our bodies. For instance our face symbolizes our outer appearance i.e. what we show to the world, any problem with the face would mean that we hold negative thoughts about how the world perceives us. Similarly our eyes represent our ability to see and perceive, a problem; **End Summary** Topics: negative emotions health harm baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
How to cheer yourself up?

When blues chase away every color from your life and the merest hint of smile evades you, you desperately need some happiness tools”! You may be wondering what are these happiness tools”, well they are simply some do it yourself techniques to bring those bright colors and smiles back into your life!

Try using the following happiness tools” whenever you need to cheer yourself up:

*Exercise or yoga: When you exercise feel good chemicals” called endorphins are released in your body. Endorphins induce a feeling of euphoria and change your mood from sad and dark to happy and bright!

*Writing down your blessings- No! It’s not like one of those school punishments where you had to write a hundred times that you would never repeat a mistake again. Penning down your blessings is in fact an enjoyable exercise! When you start counting your blessings it takes your mind away from what you don’t have and focusing on what’s right in your life; changing pessimism into optimism, dread into anticipation.

*Prayer- Remember when you were a child, how comforting it was to know that your parents would take care of your problems. When you pray you become like that child again. **End Summary** Topics: cheer exercise blessings baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Migraines and headaches- Pain relief through self- hypnosis

Stress is one the main culprits behind those excruciating migraine pains. We’ve all read or heard that we should avoid stress or take up stress-busting activities to get rid of migraines, but we are also aware of how stealthy stress is, how it manages to creep into our minds, whenever we let our guard down! So, how does one deal with pain, after stress has already completed its dirty job. Popping pain killers is one way, but pain relieving pills come packed with side effects. Therefore a better remedy would be something that is simple, natural, non-invasive and side-effect free, something like self-hypnosis.

How does self hypnosis relieve pain?

Self-hypnosis is a therapy which involves communicating with your subconscious and releasing the deeply stored pain causing negative emotions. The subconscious mind understands the language of visuals and self-hypnosis works by talking in the language of the subconscious. **End Summary** Topics: self hypnosis migraines headaches baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Positive affirmations for boomers to cure chronic sore throat

Sometimes our own thinking pattern causes our health problems. A chronic throat infection is one of the many problems that can be packaged due to negative thought patterns. Our bodies and minds communicate in a symbolic language. To understand this language, we need to first become aware of the symbolism of our body parts. Our throat stands for our ability to speak. When we stifle our self expression or creativity, our body reacts with a throat infection. When the inability to express ourselves is combined with anger it can lead to laryngitis. Though not every throat problem is a result of a negative thought pattern, if your sore throat doesn’t get better with medications then it is possible that your own behavior and thinking may be hampering your recovery.

To be able to cure yourself of a chronic throat infection, you would need to change your thinking and let go of your fear of expressing yourself. This fear could be the result of your conditioning; perhaps you have never been encouraged to speak your mind. **End Summary** Topics: chronic sore throat positive affirmation negative baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Positive affirmations to help boomers lose weight

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to lose weight!”

How I wish I could look like her/him!”

Why do I have such an ugly body?”

I have no willpower…I can’t control myself around food”

Does this sound like you? If yes, then you probably came here looking for a way to lose weight. You may have already tried a lot of weight loss programs and fad diets but with limited or no success. Perhaps what’s stopping you from attaining a fit and healthy body is your own mind! As long as you continue with your negative self-talk, your struggle to lose weight will remain just that…a never ending struggle.

You are probably unable to control your food cravings because you tell yourself that you can’t. You have not lost as much weight as you would have liked to because you believe you can’t. A lot of people binge to distract themselves from depression or negative feelings about themselves and their bodies. If you feel dissatisfied with your body, it’s because you refuse to accept yourself the way you are, in all probability you constantly compare yourself with other people and magnify your own flaws. **End Summary** Topics: Weight loss positive affirmations negative self-talk baby
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Positive thinking to keep a boomer's heart healthy

Heart attack is one of most dangerous serial killers in the world and women are more prone to becoming its victims. We all know that this killer prefers attacking those with an unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle. But did you know that negative thinking also makes you more vulnerable to heart attacks? Yes, your habit of constantly worrying, expecting the worst, fretting over every small thing can actually invite heart diseases into your life!

How does negative thinking affect your heart’s health?

Researchers at the University of Kentucky found that patients who had negative thinking patterns, such as thoughts about not being able to justify their own existence, were at higher risk for developing depression. Heart patients with depression were shown to have more complications, including a higher risk of death!

Your negative thoughts increase your stress levels and prevent you from focusing on attaining good health. When you are more focused on how unfit you are or how unfulfilling your life is, you are unlikely to take steps to improve your health. A negative thought pattern promotes a pessimistic and fatalist attitude.

Spiritually, negative thoughts are believed to affect the heart directly. **End Summary** Topics: Healthy heart positive thinking baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Self-hypnosis for boomers to cure skin problems

Our skin reflects our state of mind. You must have noticed how your face turns red when you are really angry or how people comment on your dull looking skin when you are upset or compliment you for your glowing skin when you are happy! While these effects may be temporary, deep rooted feelings, either negative or positive, can have long term effects on our skin. However, this does not mean that all skin problems are a result of negative emotions; some might have medical causes as well. But if your skin is not responding to medications, then there is a possibility that either your negativity is hampering your recovery or your problem is the result of your deep rooted negative emotions. Self-rejection, self-loathing, stress, anxiety, negative self-talk and low self-esteem are feelings which typically cause skin problems.

Just like a long held habit becomes a part of our unconscious behavior, similarly long held thinking patterns also become a part of our behavior.
A Smile From The Heart

Does a smile given or received have any effect on others?

One thing we know for sure, when we are giving a smile away it usually means we are in a happy state of mind. When we receive one, no matter what the mood we may be in, it mellows and softens the heart. So what does this mean? It shows that people are connected both directly and indirectly.

There have been numerous studies conducted with respect to the effects of a smile. The researchers involved have been curious to ascertain if one person in a group smiles can it actually stimulate others within that group to smile as well? This is an experiment you can try for yourself. Next time you are on an elevator with several other people, smile at the person next to you and see what happens. Then perhaps smile at someone else as well. This is a great exercise, with great results. In fact, it may bring a smile to your face whenever you think about it.

In many ways, humans are both compassionate and caring. Often we react as per our environment, and not our personalities. **End Summary** Topics: Smile heart effects baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Clinical Hypnosis explained for boomer: What is clinical Hypnosis?

According to the American Psychological Association (APA)’s Division of Psychological Hypnosis, hypnosis is a procedure during which a health professional or researcher suggests while treating someone that he or she experience changes in sensations, perceptions, thoughts, or behavior. Hypnosis involves a lot of visual imagery and suggestions to induce relaxation and calmness. Clinical hypnosis is used to treat psychological disorders as well as to make people more responsive to medical treatment.

How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis works by delving into the subconscious. Our subconscious is a storehouse of everything that we may or may not be consciously aware. Some unrealized potential, a forgotten memory, the cause of an unexplained problem…they are all filed somewhere in our subconscious. Clinical hypnosis induces a trance like state in which we can get in touch with our inner-self.

Can anyone be hypnotized?

People can be clinically hypnotized only if they are willing. Unlike what is depicted in films and TV soaps, people don’t lose control over their minds under hypnosis; it’s simply a different state of awareness. The degree to which a person may be hypnotized depends on his/her ability to silence the conscious mind’s chatter and accept the given suggestions. **End Summary** Topics: clinical hypnosis boomers baby boomer hypnotism
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
Past life regression therapy explained for boomers

Past life regression therapy or PLR is based on the principle of re-incarnation. It means that all of us have had many past lives and that life and death are a part of a constant cycle. According to the believers of past life regression therapy a lot of our present problems may result from the cellular memories of our past lives. For instance a phobia of water could be the result of death by drowning in a past life. PLR therapists claim that unexplained pains and aches in the body, a variety of psychological problems, negative relationships and sometimes even some diseases could be the result of painful or troubled past life memories.

How does PLR therapy work?

Past life regression therapists use clinical hypnosis to delve into their client’s subconscious. According to believers of PLR, the memories of all our past lives are buried somewhere in our subconscious, we may believe that some of our actions and thoughts are our natural instincts but they are actually directed by our subconscious. For instance an instinctive dislike towards someone could be the result of a negative relationship shared with them in a past life. **End Summary** Topics: Regression past life boomers baby boomer
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
How to be more assertive?

Do you find it hard to put your foot down?

Are you unable to voice your opinion?

Do you feel your loved ones and friends sometimes treat you like a doormat?

Is it difficult for you to say NO”?

Do you often find yourself going out of your way to oblige people, even when you don't want to?

If the answer to any of these questions is yes, then you are not being assertive enough. The problem is many people simply do not see being assertive” as a positive trait. In fact being assertive is often confused with being aggressive. The truth is that aggression is a negative emotion which has its roots in anger, while being assertive is a positive emotion rooted in self-respect and self love.

Why should you be assertive?

Ask yourself do you feel happy with always letting others have their way with you? Do you never feel resentful? Do you feel loved and appreciated? Don't you get irritated with yourself for not being able to say NO” when you really want to? A person who’s not assertive may seem calm on the surface but has a simmering resentment brewing within him/her. **End Summary** Topics: Assertive baby boomer self-help boomer year book
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
It´s almost Christmas time, so you buy a beautiful digital cam for your daughter, the latest thing in technology, 9 megapixels, cyber-shot, real state of the art; she´s so happy that she starts taking pictures of everything and everyone. You find it just precious and smile while seeing her happy.
So your daughter has a boyfriend off course, girls her age change boyfriends every couple of weeks, after all what do you expect from a 15 year old? Ok, here’s the rub. This boyfriend asks your daughter to take some spicy” pics of her, it could be wearing a bikini, or just underwear, or with his name written on her body, your girl obviously takes them because she loves” her boyfriend, and ta-dah!…. her nightmare begins.
Right now, on the Internet there are thousands of sites with these kinds of pictures from underage girls, mistakenly trusting they would only be seen by their boyfriend… WRONG!, a couple months later the boyfriend breaks up with your daughter and he starts sending those pics to a friend, and this friend to another…. Like a snowball, and no, it is impossible to stop it. **End Summary** Topics: baby boomers boomer yearbook Christmas Christmas gifts
About the Author:
BoomerYearbook.com is a psychological-informational social networking site connecting the Baby Boomer generation.
