In an interview with Jim Edwards he revealed that he used to write everything from scratch but that now he typically comes up with an outline and talks the outline into the recording device, has it transcribed and then he re-writes it, edits it, fixes it up and uses it as big chunks of his eBooks.

There are three main ways to record material for your information product: using a portable recorder, recording directly to your computer, or using the telephone. Let’s talk about using a portable recorder.

First of all, you should make sure when you purchase your portable recorder that it is a digital recorder and that the information can be downloaded to the computer. Most recorders that cost less than $100 are not downloadable to the computer and are more useful as reminders of things to do than as repositories for information.

Also make sure that you can attach an external mike to the recorder. Although all recorders have an internal mike and that mike is good, it is better to have an external mike for better pick-up. **End Summary** Topics: recording transcription portable recorder Jim Edwards relax
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Christmas in August

Of course you’re thinking of Christmas gifts in August, aren’t you? Well, I don’t usually, but this year I am because I want to tell you about a wonderful idea for a gift to your family, but this one you have to start early.

Present them with a family memoir. A memoir is like a biography or autobiography. It’s a way for family members to get to know their siblings and their ancestors and to pass along stories behind the stories such as why "the plates are cold."

I had an opportunity to live with my maternal grandmother for a short time just before she passed away. She was anxious to talk and she was probably thinking a lot about her youth. I regret, now, that I wasn’t more attentive to her and asked her more probing questions. I wish I had recorded what she had to say.

The same is true of my mother and of the many members of the rest of my family.

So for Christmas this year, why not give a gift that the whole family can enjoy for generations? Give the gift of memories. **End Summary** Topics: Transcription memoirs Christmas gifts Christmas gifts
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Internet Terms and Spellings

As suggested in the song, "Let's Call the Whole Thing off," tomato (tomayto and tomahto) or potato (potayto and potahto) can be spelled differently. Well, not really. We know that was only for purposes of the song. But in today's confusing world of new Internet words, it can get even more confusing.

Is it Ezine, e-zine, or eZine. Look it up on Google and you can see it spelled any one of those three ways and perhaps even more.

Wikipedia suggests either Ezine or e-zine. The Chicago Manual of Style and NetLingo lists it as e-zine. Alexandria Brown calls herself the E-zine Queen, yet Google refers to her as Ezine Queen, even eZine Queen. Other gurus prefer that it be written eZine. If you have an earlier version of Word, it will probably tell you that it's not a word in their dictionary.

Ebook, e-book eBook can be just as confusing. Email or e-mail, website or Web site, copy write or copywrite? And on and on it goes.

Web page is written as two words, but Web site can be two words or one word. **End Summary** Topics: internet dictionary internet words transcriptioin
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Recently, I lost the use of my computer almost entirely for six weeks. I have often said that you could put me on a desert island and I would be okay as long as you also gave me my computer. At no time have I felt this to be more true.

This happened very close to the same time as the fires here in Southern California. Of course my computer crash pales in comparison to the problems faced by the fire victims in Southern California. However, these two events made me wonder: Exactly what are the steps one should take to prevent losing data either from a computer crash or because of a natural disaster?

I called my friend, Paul Wagner, The Software Magician, and he had a great deal of knowledge as well as some very good ideas to share with me, so on October 31, 2007, we had a teleseminar in which I interviewed him on this subject. All of the proceeds from the teleseminar were donated to the Southern California fire victims.

Paul is well qualified to answer my questions. **End Summary** Topics: backup backups how to backup backing up hard drive
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Save Time, Save Money - Call Your Transcription Service Before Recording

It is 2:00 in the afternoon. You have an important 2-hour recording and you need it transcribed before the next day. And to make the situation worse, it is an analog recording, on tape. The chances of that being transcribed before the next day are pretty slim, unless you have someone in your office who is experienced in transcription, who has transcription equipment for a tape recorder and is willing to work all night.

As a transcriptionist, I have had this happen.

The time to call your transcription service is before the recording, not after. BBSS has had clients call under the above scenario. They had conferenced an important sales call, they needed it transcribed and someone had recorded it using inadequate equipment for recording telephone conversations.

This presents two problems, well, perhaps more, but two major problems. They need to get a bad audio transcribed and they need to get it done in a hurry. This means the audio has to somehow physically be transported to the transcription service rather than being electronically transferred. That's going to cost some bucks. **End Summary** Topics: transcritpion transcribe time money recording audio
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

What Are the Keys to Financial Success?

How Can I Achieve Success? What is Success? Big Questions!

Success can seem to be allusive. There are many guidelines and "success mottoes" that can be followed, and they don't change much over time. The same principles that our parents, grandparents, great grandparents were taught, are still true. "Success" can mean different things to everyone and you have to define what you think it is. You have to know what you want in order to get it.

These questions you might be asking yourself during the last months of 2009, during that period when you start strategizing about what happened in 2009 and how to keep it from happening again, or how to make it happen bigger and better in 2010?

Personally, I learn better from someone else's experiences. I like success stories and proven success formulas. That's why I like Internet Marketer Jim Edwards' story so much. This is a person who thinks things through thoroughly. He was delivering newspapers in 1998, and didn't do much better in 1999. He was playing video games and complaining instead of doing something about his situation.

So he came up with his system to tear down these personal obstacles. **End Summary** Topics: success financial_success achieve_success keys to_success
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Transcription - The Nuts and Bolts - What it Is, What it is Not

Aside from the medical definition, transcription is the act or process of transcribing or putting what is spoken into writing. One of the most famous writers who took advantage of dictating and getting his work transcribed is Erle Stanley Gardner, the creator of the Perry Mason series. He kept a staff of several secretaries busy typing his dictation.

Why use transcription? If you are creating any written or information documents, the fastest, easiest way to get it done is to record it and get it transcribed.

Modern day transcription is taking information from an audio, an MP3 or other type of audio, and typing it or putting it into words onto a piece of paper so that you can read it. The audio can usually be transmitted through the Internet to the transcriptionist, who has special transcription software allowing her or him to control the audio with a foot pedal. (The controls can also be done with the keyboard, but the foot pedal is more efficient.)

This foot pedal allows the transcriptionist to start or stop the audio, reverse, go forward, re-listen, slow down or speed up the transmission.

Being a transcriptionist requires some special skills. **End Summary** Topics: writing create products teleseminar Transcritpion dictation
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Some of you will remember when we had to type on typewriters. Some of you, present company included, may even remember when we had to type on "standard" or manual typewriters. For those who aren't in the know, that's a typewriter without electricity

Then we got electric typewriters. That was something new to learn, but all our work could be done faster, easier and with less mess.

Then came computers. There was more to learn but with this technology life was made even easier for secretaries, writers, or anyone having to convey information with the written word.

With each of these advances there were those who said they couldn't do it. They didn't like it, they didn't like change. They could get along just fine, thank you very much, with a manual typewriter, or an electric one. They didn't need computers. There was too much to learn. It was too different.

Don't let that attitude keep you from learning the latest time saver for transferring words to paper and that is the digital recorder. **End Summary** Topics: Make money increase income save time speak your book book
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

The Secret - Your Transcriptionist

The secret. That's what the real estate investor called his transcriptionist once he had discovered the magic of getting his recordings transcribed. There was excitement in his voice as he described his feelings of seeing his words on paper, being able to read them, and realizing that he could share the knowledge he had with others.

His family and friends were excited about it as well. They had not been aware of the complicated procedures and systems he had worked out in order to complete his real estate transactions. Like anything else, when you see the end result, you forget about what happened in the in-between. Having a written record of all of the knowledge you are willing to share is a reminder that things don't just happen by magic.

He went on to say, "Why, I can sit back in my comfortable chair, read the words and even do some editing if I want to." He is also planning to use portions of these transcriptions to create articles, special reports, giveaways, and many other promotional materials.

His ultimate goal is to have a book and a home study course, created from the transcripts. **End Summary** Topics: audio recording create_products create_more_products
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Want to have fun some evening or Sunday afternoon - besides going to be the beach? Want to do something nice for your family? Or do this with your family. You'll have a great time reminiscing and reliving old memories.

You know all those photographs you have sitting around, some in shoe boxes, some in photo albums? Some have something written on the back, some not? Oh, what a pain that's going to cause you and your family one of these days when no one can remember when the picture was taken, why or of whom.

Sit down with your digital recorder and start recording information about the photographs. Number the photographs, or in some way catalog them so they correspond to the recording, transfer the digital recording to your computer, burn it to a CD and include it with the photographs.

Go one step further and have it transcribed and you have created a treasured memory.

Not only can you give the name of the person in the photograph, but you can tell something fun or informative about when the photograph was taken, add a little history to it - like, "This is my niece. **End Summary** Topics: scrapbookiong photographs digital recording record pictures
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Coaches - Consultants - Record, Then Re-Purpose Your Sessions

Most coaches or consultants don't generally consider recording their coaching sessions, but if you include this as part of your services, you are providing a value added service for your students or clients. They will be able to concentrate on the conversation and the coaching sessions rather than taking tedious notes, which will then have to be deciphered.

My coach taught me this. When he informed me that he would be recording our sessions, I was delighted. That way I could concentrate on what he was telling me, ask questions, and absorb more. Then when I wanted to refer back to something, I didn't have to rely on incomplete, indecipherable or useless notes.

I also didn't have to worry about my memory failing me. Months later I could use the recording to refer back to something that we had talked about. I also took advantage of listening to the recordings several times, always hearing more each time I listened to it.
Another time when I was taking a course on how to use Dreamweaver, I recorded the sessions myself and I have referred back to them many times over the months to refresh my memory. **End Summary** Topics: coaches consultants digital value save time value added
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Repurpose and Repackage - Make Everything You Do Count More Than Once

What a concept-do less work and have more products. That's what you get when you repurpose or repackage. Make everything you do count more than once.

The dictionary definition for repurpose is to use or convert for use in another format or product as in repurposed the book as a compact disk. Repackage means to package again into a more attractive package.

I like to use the definition: Make everything you do count more than once. This is a phrase I've been using for years.

So, if you've already written a book and you're wondering where to get your next product or article, extract something from that book for your article. Or record the book and combine the audio and the transcript for a new product. Or turn the book into a home study course.

If you have to write a report for work, repurpose and publish it as a magazine article. Get your teleseminars transcribed and package them together as an audio and a transcript. Put more than one teleseminar together and have a book.

If you write a White Paper for your business or company, turn it into a brochure or a Special Report, or a magazine article. **End Summary** Topics: transcription outsourcing writers authors record repurpose
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...

Repurpose Your Teleseminar - Teleseminars Are the Single Most Prolific Source For New Products

Teleseminars are probably the single most prolific source for new products. One teleseminar can produce at least 20 streams of income or marketing strategies (and counting).

1. Charge for the teleseminar

2. Edit the audio and that becomes a product.

3, 4, 5. Extract portions of the audio to turn it into more than one audio product, an RSS Feed, an audio on your blog, Tips for a new website, etc.

6. Get the teleseminar transcribed and the audio and transcript become a packaged product.

7, 8, & 9. Using the transcript from the teleseminar, extract portions for multiple articles.

10. The transcript of just one hour-long teleseminar is perfect for a Special Report.

11, 12, & 13. Use portions of the transcript for magazine or EzineArticles. One hour-long teleseminar will probably produce about three articles.

14. Using the transcript from one hour-long teleseminar is perfect for a chapter in your book, ebook or home study course. One hour-long teleseminar will usually produce about 20-30 pages.

15, 16, 17, & 18. . Combine several teleseminar transcripts and they become a book, eBook, eCourse or home study course.

19. RSS Feed.

20. Blog entries. **End Summary** Topics: repurpose teleseminar create record new products source
About the Author:
For more information about how to finish your information products faster, go to ...
