The Aftermath of Hurricane Ike in Kentucky

At the start of the month of September 2008, a major hurricane formed around west of Cape Verde Islands. It passed through the Caribbean all the way across the east coast hitting Louisiana, Texas, further inland and all the way up to Canada and left a path of destruction in its wake. It was the third most destructive hurricane to have ever hit the United States after Hurricanes Andrew of 2002 and Katrina of 2005. We could not avoid its fury as it raged across Kentucky, flooding some areas and causing power outages all across the east coast. It was cruel as some counties were still reeling from power outages caused by Hurricane Gustav. Our house particularly, was damaged by the floods and the strong winds. Fortunately, no one in our neighborhood was hurt. After the worst was over, it was time to painfully rebuild what was destroyed. Our house was wrecked. There were at least 3 feet of water down in the basement. Also, our wind-whipped walls were also damaged by flying debris. Life on the Road: My 2 Cents

Life on the road can be both good and bad. It depends on how you look at it. You get to meet new people, see new places and experience new things, most of the time though, it can get real lonely. In my previous job, I had to visit each of our California offices regularly after flying in from the east coast and oftentimes would have to employ airport transportation in La Crescenta, our main office, to and fro from the airport, sometimes using another airport car service in La Canada and back again. I was traveling so much that I had become a familiar face with the people at the airport car service in Pasadena and even became friends with some of the people who worked there. I also had to fly all over the country to meet various clients, in and out of different states, often landing in the most unusual places. I was constantly traveling from coast to coast trading one hotel room for another.
