Control Comfort Eating from the Inside

There is a lot of truth in reports that say comfort eating is a state of mind and to stop this you need to control the inside and the outside will take care of itself.

Think about it, what makes you eat food when you are not hungry. Why do you eat something you do not want which you know is unhealthy and will inevitably lead to weight gain.

You control your actions. Your mind conscious and subconscious controls what you do. The little voice in your head that say's "go on eat that biscuit you have had a bad day and deserve it" or "have another bowl of trifle, after all you are with friends and can enjoy yourself" has been programmed over years to look for a quick fix to the feel good factor.

Some people find the feel good factor in other ways. They do not relate food to giving this type of satisfaction. They use food as a source of energy to survive and have occasional treats that keep them satisfied. **End Summary** Topics: comfort eating stop comfort eating end comfort eating control comfort eating control comfort eating inside end emotional eating stop emotional eating
About the Author:
My name is Karen and for many years I have struggled with my weight - until I lost 49lbs and discovered an amazing way to effortless, permanent weight loss.
Food is around us 24/7 so it is no wonder that we continually turn to it for comfort.

There is so much choice and whether you are a sweet or savoury eater we all know what satisfies us and gives us the feel good factor if only for a short burst of time.

Firstly, to understand comfort eating we need to break down the cycle . **End Summary** Topics: Resist comfort eating end comfort eating stop comfort eating understand comfrot eating end emotional eating stop emotional eating.
About the Author:
My name is Karen and for many years I have struggled with my weight - until I lost 49lbs and discovered an amazing way to effortless, permanent weight loss.
Comfort Eating and Yo-Yo Dieting - Is There a Connection?

Yo-Yo dieting is associated with strict diets that are not sustainable, slowing down the metabolism and generally being unhealthy and counter productive.

However, it has a strong link with comfort eating. As discussed in previous articles, comfort eating is driven by the need to feel good fast and we associate food with this feeling and know we can get a quick fix by using it in this way.

So how is it associated with Yo-Yo Dieting

When we go on a strict diet we normally have a goal in mind. This could be as simple as losing an amount of weight to look good or an up and coming event such as wedding, holiday, special anniversary.

At the point of going on the diet we are very focussed and the goal is there waiting to be attained. However, most of us are impatient and do not want to lose weight in a controlled healthy way. We want immediate fast results and to get these we tend to go on strict unhealthy diets that are too low in calories and deprive us of essential nutrients and foods types that we need and crave. **End Summary** Topics: end comfort eating stop comfort eating control comfort eating end yo-yo dieting stop yo-yo dieting control yo-yo dieting end emotional eating stop emo
About the Author:
My name is Karen and for many years I have struggled with my weight - until I lost 49lbs and discovered an amazing way to effortless, permanent weight loss.
Comfort Eating, Stress, Desserts - What Do They Have In Common?

Did you know that 'stressed' spelled backwards is 'desserts' - Interesting don't you think when sweet foods are commonly eaten for comfort .

Stress plays a huge part of comfort eating. When we are stressed, in particular if the stress is on-going, we have many adverse side effects to our health. The three listed below are directly connected to the desire to comfort eat.

Fatigue - When feeling tired we often reach out for food high in sugar to give us energy. Typically desserts, chocolate, sweets which give an immediate energy burst.

Lack of Nutrients - The body craves nutrients blocked by stress, it will send signals to our brain to consume these vitamins and minerals and the brain being very clever makes us desire foods containing these nutrients.

Hypoglycaemia - Low blood sugar - makes us crave sugar which we find in - yes you've guessed it - desserts and other sweet related foods.

When we are stressed we desperately want to relieve the symptoms. Comfort eating is a way of doing this for short periods of time. **End Summary** Topics: comfort eating and stress stop comfort eating end comfort eating end sugar cravings stop sugar cravings
About the Author:
My name is Karen and for many years I have struggled with my weight - until I lost 49lbs and discovered an amazing way to effortless, permanent weight loss.
Comfort Eating - Does Exercise Help Control This?

Exercise is vitally important to weight loss /control and health in general, but does it help you control comfort eating.

In many ways it does play an important component part in the process. When you exercise you produce a chemical called Serotonin which is called the happy drug. It is a natural chemical that our brain produces and releases to make us feel good. We crave it!

The main reason we comfort eat is for the feel good factor. Food provides this for most of us in a quick easy burst. However, in excess food has many negatives, weight gain and bad nutrition being two of them. Therefore we should be looking at other ways of releasing Serotonin that have benefits to health, exercise being a particularly good one.

Most people sigh at the thought of exercising. Having to be energetic is often far too much to expect of us with the busy lives we lead. However, exercise actually has the opposite effect. Although the thought of it is daunting when we do it we feel immediately revived and full of energy, happy and elated from the Serotonin and ready to tackle anything. **End Summary** Topics: comfort eating and exercise stop comfort eating end comfort eating control comfort eating end emotional eating stop emotional eating contol emotional
About the Author:
My name is Karen and for many years I have struggled with my weight - until I lost 49lbs and discovered an amazing way to effortless, permanent weight loss.
What is Comfort Eating

Comfort eating is a 21st century way of life for many women. With all the pressures of modern day life it has become the norm to seek out fast foods which are highly refined and full of sugar. These foods offer a short burst of energy and the feel good factor. This is quickly followed by a slump in energy and the process starts again. So why do we comfort eat

With so many responsibilities it is hard to sit down to a proper meal where we savour our food and digest it so that we feel fulfilled. More often we grab a quick bite on the run and then feel that we have not had anything substantial to eat. These bad eating habits lead to us reaching for the biscuit tin or devouring a bar of chocolate with our mid-day coffee, when at work or after dropping the kids off to school or in between ironing. At the time this feels far more rewarding than a healthy breakfast. **End Summary** Topics: comfort eating comfort eater what is comfort eating comfort eating and health why do we comfort eat stop comfort eating end comfort eating
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
Emotional Eating - Is it Greed?

I was an emotional eater for many years. This inevitably led to me being overweight. I never considered myself a greedy person. Mostly I ate really healthily - I am one of those rare people who enjoy vegetables and salad, I don't add butter to mashed potato and I love fish and chicken.

I don't particularly like sweet things and chocolate can be in my fridge for months and I would not consider eating it. Most days I would have a breakfast, lunch and evening meal and these would be reasonably healthy. I have never been into snacking for snacking sake.

So why was I so overweight.

All my life I have enjoyed food, if I go out it will normally be for a meal and some wine. Food has always made me feel good so I see it as part of my social life. n theory this should not be a problem, everything in moderation. However, food also became my emotional crutch and this is where the damage was done.

As soon as something emotional happened in my life I turned to food as a comforter. **End Summary** Topics: emotional eating emotional eater emotional eating and greed emotional eating and health effects of emotional eating
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
What is Yo-Yo Dieting

Yo-yo dieting is a repeated loss and gain of body weight due to excessive dieting.

People who Yo-Yo diet normally set themselves weight loss goals that are too aggressive and therefore not attainable within the expected timeframe. This leads to lack of willpower to continue and the desire to eat those foods we crave.

Why do people Yo-Yo diet

There are two reasons an individual goes on a diet - Appearance and Health. Either way the individual will embark on a diet with the aim of losing weight, often something that is extreme and lacking in nutrition which deprives them of quantity and or variety of food. Invariably these diets are unbalanced and after the initial period of elation from weight loss they find them hard to maintain, craving foods that they used to eat and then eating them in large volume. This leads to the failure of the diet plan - weight gain of the weight lost and more - and the inevitable merry-go-round cycle of Yo-Yo dieting begins and in most cases continues throughout the person's life. Effects on health

Yo Yo dieting most certainly affects health. **End Summary** Topics: yo-yo dieting end yo-yo dieting stop yo-yo dieting what is yo-yo dieting yo-yo dieting and health yo-yo dieting and weight
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
Emotional and comfort eating are very similar and many people consider them to be one and the same. Effectively, when we feel emotional we comfort eat.

So is there a difference?

You could say that comfort eating is more controlled than emotional eating. Often when people comfort eat they are very conscious of their actions, Choosing to eat ice cream, biscuits, chocolate or savoury stacks to comfort them through a crisis. They will choose the desired treat deliberately as a substitute for whatever it is that is making them feel bad and savour every mouthful, however, like all people who have this relationship with food they will regret it afterwards, often the next day when they get on the scales and see the damage.

Comfort eaters will eat out of boredom, knowingly eating for something to do that passes the time in an enjoyable way.

Emotional eaters tend to eat in more extreme measures, they will eat large quantities of food very fast, often without conscious choice of what they are eating and rarely savour the item. Their regret is often instant and the action compounds the feelings of emotion that led to the binging. **End Summary** Topics: comfort eating emotional eating comfort eater emotional eater comfort eating and health emotional eating and health comfort eating and weight emotiona
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
Emotional Eating Explained

What is Emotional Eating

Emotional eating is common in today's society. It is triggered by how an individual is feeling and leads to eating food when they are not hungry to give or increase the feel good factor. Emotional eating is not limited to bad feelings such as stress, anger, sorrow and depression. It is also associated with good feelings such as happiness and contentment.

So why do we eat out of emotion

When we have a bad experience many of us will reach for the first thing that makes us feel better and this is often food. It only takes a small amount of sugary refined food to improve our mood but this is normally high in calorie content. We consume this food in minutes if not seconds without even thinking about it. After eating this we are often racked with guilt and the underlying issue is still there waiting to be resolved. **End Summary** Topics: emotional eating emotional eater what is emotional eating stop emotional eating end emotional eating emotional eating and health emotional eating and
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
Emotional Eater - Can You Stop

Emotional eating is something that has been ingrained into you since your childhood. Many of us were rewarded with food when we did something good and given food to console us when something went wrong. Food became a gift that gave us the feel good factor.

In addition it would normally come in a form of chocolate, crisps or a comforting pudding which confirmed in our minds that this was the right way to reward/console us in any given situation.

It is possible to stop emotional eating but first you need to acknowledge that you do this and be prepared to make conscious changes to your relationship with food.

You will need to become aware of your eating habits to break them. It is essential that you decide what changes you can and are prepared to make and set a plan of action in place. **End Summary** Topics: emotional eating emotional eater stop emotional eating control emotional eating end emotional eating emotional eating and weight emotional eating and
About the Author:
My name is Karen, I have been a successful business woman for many years and I now own and run my own company.
