Computer Science or Information Science - Choosing your technology major

If you want to go to a University to learn about computers or to get a job working in computers then you generally want to go with one of two majors, Computer Science and Information Science. Many students don't know the differences between the two so I've written this article to help identify the differences and determine which major is correct for you.

Computer Science is about one thing and one thing only: programming. If you are interested in making computer software or working with computer hardware or a combination of both, then Computer Science is the major for you. This major will teach you about things such as C++/Visual Basic programming, SQL databases, software/hardware interaction and operating systems. Computer science is more geared towards manipulating computers to do what you want them to do and it is definitely the more technical of the two majors.

Information Science is a broader field. Admittedly Information Science is not all about computers it is more about the creation, transmission, accessibility and archival of information. Today computers are responsible for most information processing/transmission. Therefore most of your classes are geared towards computers but in a more general sense. **End Summary** Topics: college majors education information science computers
About the Author:
Rich LoNigro has been attending Suny Albany University for 9 semesters. It would have been 8 if he had originally enrolled as an Information Science student instead of Computer Science (which he quickly found out wasn't for him).
A small guide to Drop Shipping your product

When getting your product sold by other online retailers the process will usually be Drop Shipping. Drop Shipping means that your resellers take orders on your product, send you the shipping information and pay you a discounted amount, then you ship out the table for them. The idea is that both you and the reseller make money and the reseller doesn't have to worry about stocking or shipping he only has to worry about one thing - sales.

I want to highlight the importance of that last sentence. The ONLY thing you want your resellers worrying about is bringing in more sales. Any time spent by your reseller dealing with customers, changing orders etc is money out of your pocket.

The most important aspect of a good drop shipping system is order efficiency. To maintain high order efficiency you want to make sure your resellers are aware of inventory levels. That way they are not selling a product that is not available. This is the biggest detriment to a drop shipping system. If you get an order from a reseller that is out of stock, your reseller now has to spend time contacting the customer and getting an exchange done. **End Summary** Topics: drop shipping
About the Author:
Richard has been writing articles online for about 3 years now.
