How to Make a Origami Boat that really Floats

History tells us that the art of origami was derived to make concrete shapes such as cranes or boats. The paper boat is regarded as origami for pure enjoyment, otherwise known as play origami. This paper sailboat is an intermediate level project that only appears to be more advanced.

Yes, the boat will really float, but as the paper gets saturated with water, it will sink and be ruined. This can actually start a neat discussion about what made the boat float to begin with and then what made it sink.

To start with how to make a paper boat, first of all you will need to find a rectangular piece of paper and then follow the steps given below.

1) Keep the sheet of paper in the flat surface in front of you.
2) Hold the bottom right corner and fold it towards the top left corner, upwards.
3) Now remove the excess paper from this formation by tearing it to form a triangle when folded.
4) Once you unfold this triangle, you should get a perfect piece of square paper which you have to use to make the paper boat. **End Summary** Topics: origami paper boat Hobbies Crafts Recreation Leisure plane
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is enthusiastic Origami creator and is the owner of the origami site Origami Kids.com, See some of his latest creations at Barco de Papel and Paper Airplane

Origami history - The art of paper folding

Origami is the Japanese art of paperfolding. "Ori" is the Japanese word for folding and "kami" is the Japanese word for paper. That is how origami acquired its name. Nonetheless, origami did not start in Japan. It started in China in the first or second century and then spread to Japan sometime during the 6 century. The objetive of this art is to transform a flat sheet of paper into a finished sculpture through folding and sculpting techniques, and as such the use of cuts or glue are not considered to be origami.

There is much speculation as to the origin of the art of paper folding. While Japan seems to have had the most extensive tradition, there is evidence of independent paperfolding traditions in Spain, Germany and China, among other places. Nonetheless because paper decomposes rapidly, there is very little direct evidence of its age or origins, aside from references in published material.

The number of the origami folds is not big, but they can be combined in a variety of ways to make great designs. The most well known origami pattern is likely the Japanese paper crane. **End Summary** Topics: origami paper airplane Hobbies Crafts Recreation Leisure plane
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is enthusiastic Paper folding creator and is the developer of the origami site Origami Kids.com, See some of his latest creations at Aviones de Papel and Papierflieger

A Origami Airplane Flight Plan: The Bible to Making a Origami Airplane

Folding papers into different shapes to create decorative objects is a Japanese art called Origami. This is exactly what is done when making an origami boat. I learned how to make origami airplane and it became a very relaxing pass time of mine. Looking at one of the origami airplane that I created always gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.

In starting how to make a origami airplane, one has to gather the materials needed. Now, that may sound funny since it’s quite obvious that all one needs to have is a plain rectangular piece of paper. But then, the kind of paper that one uses can make all the difference. The ideal type would be printer paper, but if it is not on hand, a piece of notebook paper will do just fine. Also, one may want to exercise a little more creativity by jazzing up their plane, so one may use crayons or colored pens to apply that personal artistic touch.

To start with how to make a origami airplane, one takes the piece of paper and folds it 1/2 lengthwise, its two sides facing each other. **End Summary** Topics: origami paper airplane Hobbies Crafts Recreation Leisure plane
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is enthusiastic Paper folding creator and is the owner of the origami site Origami Kids.com, Learn How to make paper airplanes Visit the best Paper Planes site.

Folding papers into shapes to create decorative crafts is a Japanese art called Origami. This is exactly what is done when making an origami boat. I had been bedridden for the last six months and feeling really stressed out and depressed, then I happened to stumble upon an ad for creating origami flowers and I tried it. My stress level decreased dramatically after I learned how to make origami flowers and it became a very relaxing pass time of mine. Looking at one of the origami flowers that I created always gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment. Therefore, my depression began plummeting substantially.

To create an origami flower only a few tools are needed. Any local hobby, or art store would carry the stipulated color or colors of origami paper that you may need to construct your flowers. You can use typical newspaper for this, however the original origami paper is made thinner for the folding process and its already created to the right measurements. All you need to construct these oragami flowers is a pencil, a ruler, and a pair of scissors.

One of the simplest origami flowers to make is the rose. **End Summary** Topics: origami flowers Hobbies Crafts Recreation Leisure
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is enthusiastic Paper folding creator and is the owner of the origami site Origami Kids.com , Visit this site for Learn how to make several origami models.

Craft Project for a Group: Make a Mural

Most craft projects are geared to individuals, whether kids or adults. Sometimes you'd like to have a craft project that works for a group of kids working together. Making a mural jointly is a design that works for a group. By working together, you are creating something to decorate a shared area. Individual crafts can be displayed, but one unique item is often more effective than a group of items that are almost identical. In addition, sometimes kids' crafts, like it or not, just become clutter when they are taken home, and it isn't long before Mom throws it out. This craft project of making a group mural can be displayed for several weeks and will not become clutter in anyone's home.

The basic materials for a children's group mural is freezer paper. Freezer paper is about 18 inches wide, and it is very tough. One side is plastic coated. That is the side that is designed to be placed against the food. You will have better luck drawing on and gluing things onto the other side. Class or group murals can feature a number of different design elements. **End Summary** Topics: origami Decorations craft kids origami-kids.com mural
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the owner of origami-kids.com, a great web site for learn how to make Avions en Papier , Victor also has a funny Juegos Gratis web site : zonaminada.net

Foam Sheet Glasses Case: Arts and Crafts Ideas

Are you a camp director, professor, or homeschool mom looking for a fancy arts and crafts idea for your kids? Or maybe you are a recreation director at a senior center or day care and could use a new project. Anyway, this arts and crafts idea will be interesting and fun for everyone. This glass box can be used, given as a present, or converted into a necklace purse.

To make the glasses box, you will need the following simple components: a square of craft foam, plastic or large blunt needles, lanyard lace or thick yarn. Cut 2 rectangles from the foam, each 3-1/2 inches (9 cm.) by six inches (fifteen cm.). With a orifice punch, make holes on 3 flanks of each rectangle, leaving one short side unpunched. Make the holes 1/2 inch from each other and permit at least 1/4 inch between the orifice and the edge of the craft foam. The holes need to be in line so that the 2 pieces can be bound together. If you are preparing the craft for little kids, you should make the holes yourself. **End Summary** Topics: origami Decorations folding kids origami-kids.com Sheet Glasses
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the owner of origami-kids.com, a great web site for learn how to fold Avioes de Papel , Victor also has a funny Juegos Gratis web site : zonaminada.net

They look quite impressive yet are easy enough for small children to build. This is one Christmas craft idea to use again and again. Older people will adore making this Christmas craft, too, which can be varied to build a number of varied sparkling Decorations for your Christmas tree.

To build the bead and tube cleaner Decorations, you need standard tube cleaners in desired colors and acrylic beads. Two models of beads are particularly effective when strung on tube cleaners. 1 model are named sunburst beads, but are also known as paddlewheel beads, snowflake beads or starburst beads. These beads have six faceted paddles spaced equally around a center that contains the hole for stringing. When several of these sunburst beads are strung successively, they fit against each other in an interlocking design.

The other model of bead that is also effective for this Christmas craft is named the 3 bead or propeller bead. It has three rounded bumps aligned around the stringing hole. Like the sunburst beads, the 3 beads interlock when strung successively. **End Summary** Topics: Christmas origami Decorations folding kids origami-kids.com Bead Pipe Cleaner
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the developer of origami-kids.com, a great web site for learn how to fold paper airplanes , Victor also has a amusing free game web site : zonaminada.net

A Little History about Origami Planes.

The history of paper airplanes has in no way really been established, but it is believed that the initially part of flying paper was probably a damaged part of the original paper tossed aside to the garbage. Paper is believed to have created with the Chinese around 2000 years ago, so most flight historians suppose that this is where the first origami airplanes may have originated.

Paper was used for a lot of things in the antiquity, and in the orient, they used paper for such things as origami which is the Japanese art of paper folding. It only seemed like a matter of time before they realized that because of the light weight of paper, that it could sail through the air.

In China, they have used paper in the design of their kites as well. This has also been traced back to about 2000 years ago. And today, if you rigged everything up correctly and you used a paper that was heavier than your normal writing paper, you would be able to fly your paper airplane just like you would a kite. **End Summary** Topics: paper airplanes origami aircraft folding kids origami-kids.com flying tips
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the owner of origami-kids.com, a amusant web site for learn how to fold paper airplane , Victor also has a funny free game web site : zonaminada.net

Paper Airplane. Excellent Distraction to Entertain Inside Home

A lot of the paper airplanes flying you do will be indoors, at home. Indoor flying has very much advantages - no wind to carry off your plane or send it crashing to the Earth. No precipitation to turn it into a soggy wreck. No sun to get in your eyes. No trees or vegetation to swallow down your airplane in the leaved. And Inside Home game is great for paper airplane contests because it means each one flies under the equal considerations. (For more on paper airplane contests, see my web page origami-kids.com) But indoor flying also has a few problems, namely walls and ceilings, not to mention furniture, to crash into. The thing to do is to turn these drawbacks into benefits. Here are some games you can play that take advantage of the fact that you´re inside

Paper Plane Golf
This game is a lot like the real game of golf, but you play it indoors using your arm and a paper airplane rather than outside using gold clubs and a ball, and it doesn´t take nearly as long. You can play the game alone or with friends. We recommend using the Count, Slice, or Butterfly. **End Summary** Topics: paper airplanes origami aircraft folding kids origami-kids.com flying tips
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the developer of origami-kids.com, a great place for learn how to fold paper airplanes , Victor also has a amusing free game web site : zonaminada.net

Paper Airplanes. Glossary of Terms

This origami plane glossary has several interesting terms you might come across as you develop and explore your fascination in paper airplanes.

Remember that these terms are useful not only for folding paper airplanes or other paper craft projects, but some of the terms are used in describing situations that occur in flight – regardless of whether it's your first paper airplane or it's talking about an actual airplane that indeed flies in the sky!

Aerodynamics
How easily an airplane moves across the air. Aerodynamics is a branch of dynamics concerned with studying the motion of air, particularly when it interacts with objects in motion. Aerodynamics is a subfield of fluid dynamics and gas dynamics, with much theory in common between them

Ailerons
These look exactly like elevators, but instead, they make the paper airplane bank to one side or the other. An aileron in the right wing will bank your plane to the left and one made in the left wing will

conversely bank it to the right. The difference between ailerons and elevators is that the aileron is made toward the end of the wings on the front instead of the mid section of the plane. **End Summary** Topics: paper airplanes origami aircraft folding kids origami-kids.com flying tips
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba is the developer of www.origami-kids.com, a great web site for learn how to make paper airplane , Victor also has a funny free games web site : zonaminada.net

Secrets to Make the Best Paper Airplanes you'll ever Fly

The "secrets" to making paper airplanes fly well are largely the same adjustments which make hand launched gliders fly well. Most people have the unfortunate idea that a good paper airplane needs no adjustments after the basic folds are finished. All real airplanes have trim tabs to make small adjustments to the plane, and all paper airplanes need small adjustments to fly their best. There are a few basic adjustments and principles which will transform the paper airplane novice into a paper airplane expert. The present article will show you several flying tips for make a paper airplane that fly very well

1 Dihedral
One of the most common paper airplane mistakes is to leave the wings folded down at an angle. That is called "anhedral", and it reduces the lateral stability of your paper airplane. What you want is called "dihedral" which is when the wing tips are the highest part of the wing. The resulting lateral stability will help keep your paper airplane flying straight, or perhaps in a gradual turn. With lateral instability your paper airplane will either roll over on its back and crash, or enter into an ever tightening spiral which becomes a spiraling dive. **End Summary** Topics: paper airplanes origami flying tips
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba writes about Paper Airplanes .

Okay, so you’ve mastered making the paper airplanes, now it’s time to learn some great paper airplane flying tips to make them fly better than ever. SpeedBecause the way a plane is designed and made, it will like certain angle and speeds depending on what kind of paper airplane it is. For Dart paper airplanes, since they are thin and sleek, they like fast throws either at eye-level or higher.Glider paper airplanes are for slow flying. They have a wide, flat shape and prefer a slower, more gentle push to make them work the best. The best angle for Gliders is either at eye-level or at a more downward angle. Stunt paper planes can be thrown at practically any angle, and at various speeds, you just need to experiment. The best paper airplanes for indoor flying would be Darts and slow Gliders that only need calm air and not a lot of space. Remember, never aim a paper airplane at someone’s face. It could easily hurt an eye or two! The best planes to fly outside would be the more rugged types like Stunts, high-flying Gliders, and smaller Darts. **End Summary** Topics: paper airplanes origami aircraft folding kids flying tips
About the Author:
Victor Torrealba writes about Paper Airplanes .
Paper Airplane World Records

For a long time Paper Aircraft have been very seriously used by large Aerospace Aircraft manufacturers, for scientific and theory testing of aircraft behaviour. In this article brings together the facts most outstanding made with paper planes.

World Record, New Time Aloft
Takuo Toda set a new récord for longest paper airplane flight at a competition in Hiroshima Prefecture in April of 2009. His record flight topped Blackburn's by 0.3 seconds, now the world récord is 27.9 seconds. He folded his plane, measuring approximately 10cm in length, from a single sheet of paper. The previous record of 27.6 seconds was achieved by Ken Blackburn in the USA. Ken is one of the superstars of the paper aircraft world today and keeps all of us, all over the World, working hard to match his skills. He is also very much a gentleman and has been surpassed once by Chris Edge and Andy Currey from England, only to smash the 20.9 seconds set by Chris and Andy with a world topping 27.6 seconds. This time is going to take some beating. The very best of luck to all who try. **End Summary** Topics: Paper Airplane Origami World Records
About the Author:
For more information about Paper Airplanes, please go to my web sites Paper Airplanes and Airplane Game Simulator
