The Battle to Stop Smoking Begins With You

Summoning the will power to quit smoking is one of the most challenging tasks that many adults will face. Cigarettes are easily accessible and socially accepted, and that it can be hard to stay away from them. With other forms of chemical dependency addicts must remove themselves completely from the culture that supports their habit. When you can buy your drug of choice at the local supermarket though, this becomes a much greater challenge. Though there are stories of folks who were able to simply walk away, the more common tale is one of struggle and repeated failure.

Perhaps the most important thing that you can do if you have decided that you want to stop smoking is to enlist the help of a friend or family member to hold you accountable. Having someone there to provide encouragement along the way will be more valuable than any stop smoking product that you can buy. It is important to remember that smoking can be just as much an emotional addiction as it is physical. While different sides of the medical community try to argue either side, it is probably safe to conclude that both factors come into play. **End Summary** Topics: smoking quit smoking stop smoking quitting smoking how to quit quit addiction habit smoke smoker cigarette cessation nicotine tobacco
About the Author:

Smoking Addiction: Why People Choose to Quit Smoking

Many images surround the word addiction. The use of elicit substances and the abuse of alcohol are perhaps the most common. Even though these chemical addictions can be tragic and catastrophic, perhaps the most difficult addictions to over come are the ones that are acceptable. A smoking addiction can be one of the hardest chemical dependency habits to break because it is socially acceptable. Cigarettes are not illegal and you can smoke them in plain sight without getting arrested, fined or reprimanded. This fact alone can make it very difficult for people to find accountability, even when they want to quit.

The reasons why people choose to quit are as varied as the brands of cigarettes on the market. One of the biggest motivators for people to break their smoking addiction is the health problems that it causes or makes worse. Emphysema, lung cancer, and heart disease can all be attributed directly to smoking. Other diseases, while not directly caused by smoking, can be made worse by smoking because it weakens and compromises the body’s immune system.

Other folks are driven to combat their smoking addiction because they realize that they could have a higher quality of life. **End Summary** Topics: smoking quit smoking stop smoking quitting smoking how to quit quit addiction habit smoke smoker cigarette cessation nicotine tobacco
About the Author:

Miniature Pinscher Dogs, A Little Dog With A Big Attitude

Many people who are shopping for a small dog do not want a dog that is a purse dog, or a dog that is carried around a pampered. Perhaps you are seeking a small dog because you have a small home, yet you want a dog with some spunk. If you are looking for a little dog with a big attitude, then a Miniature Pinscher might be the right kind of dog for you. As with any breed, however, you should know something about these dogs before you purchase one. No matter how cute they are, Miniature Pinschers are not for everyone! First, many people mistakenly assume that the Miniature Pinscher is a small version of a Doberman Pinscher. While these dogs do resemble Dobermans, they are not the same breed. These dogs are called Pinschers simply because of the way they hunt. In German pinscher means biter, and these little dogs will jump on and bite their prey when hunting. Of course, if the dogs are not well trained, you might just become their prey.

Which brings up another interesting point about the breed. Miniature Pinschers require disciplined training if they are going to be good pets. **End Summary** Topics: min pin min-pin mini pinscher miniature doberman miniature doberman pinscher miniature pincher miniature pinscher miniaturedoberman miniatured
About the Author:

Stop smoking: Is it really worth it to stop smoking?

You have been thinking that it's time to quit smoking. But maybe you've been thinking that its time to quit smoking ever since you started and you are still smoking. You know that the health benefits of quitting are incredible. Still, you are smoking a cigarette or thinking of smoking one right now. Have you examined your reasons for not quitting? Maybe you think you can't handle the withdrawal symptoms.

Try looking at it this way: Smoking cigarettes is like pointing a gun at your head. The gun won't go off until ten or twenty years have passed. The thing is that the gun will go off eventually. How many years have you been smoking? Five, ten, fifteen, twenty, forty? However long it's been, the time to quit smoking is now. Really, it was yesterday, but now will have to do. Put that gun down. Stop embarrassing yourself in public. When nonsmokers see someone smoking, they make judgments about it. Stop giving them a reason to judge you.

Not only is there an increasing social stigma attached to smokers, but the health benefits of quitting are endless. Do it now. Don't keep putting it off. **End Summary** Topics: stop smoking quit smoking quitting smoking how to quit quit addiction habit tobacco quit cigarettes cessation cigarettes nicotine smoker
About the Author:
Bio: Sig Kabai researches the best ways to stop smoking.
