Bogus Fuel Pill Schemes To Rip You Off!

Have you noticed ads for pills or powder or even liquids that you put into your gas tank and, magically, you will get up to 30% better gas mileage? Wow, that's more powerful magic than Harry Potter can produce! The number one selling fuel pill out there was a product made by Bioperformance. Their product was known as the gas pill or the fuel pill.

The Attorney General of Texas filed an action against Bioperformance. He stated "We will aggressively fight these con artists who cynically exploit the public's concerns about high gas prices to line their own pockets."

He referred to them con artists. That is exactly what they are. It seems, if you had put moth balls into your gas tank you would accomplish the same thing as the fuel pill. The fuel pill was found to be basically the chemical equivalent of mothballs.

Bioperformance was really only out to encourage the recruitment of more and more paying members into what seems to be pyramid scheme according to statements made by the attorney general.

Believe it or not, there are still companies and products out there that are making the same claims all over again. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of industry insider secrets on saving gas and dollars at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
A Few Tricks To Save Gas

1. Buy your gas in the morning or evening

Gas becomes denser when the temperature is colder. Gas pumps measure the volume of the gas that you pump and do not measure the density. You are getting more gas per gallon when the gas is denser. A congressional committee has estimated that US consumers will pay 2.1 billion dollars more for gas this summer because of this density difference.

This means that if you fill up your gas tank in the cooler morning temperatures, or in the colder evening hours, that you'll be getting better gas price economy. Filling up your gas tank later in the evening may also help you to avoid the rush of day hours and you will not waste gas idling while waiting for a pump to open up.

2. Avoid driving when your gas tank is close to empty

Try not to drive your car until the gas gauge is on or close to empty. All the loose dirt that may have built up in your gas tank over time will be sucked into the engine. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel has written a 143 page book of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
Take Care of Your Oil If You Want To Save Gas!

A vehicle that performs at it's peak will realize the best fuel economy. If something interferes with peak performance it will decrease gas economy and will cause you to use more gas and spend more money. For that reason proper management of the oil in your engine is a critical component of good fuel economy.

A priority in your car maintenance needs to be scheduled oil changes. Changing the oil according to the car makers recommendations is essential to keeping your car at its peak and keeping your gas economy at its best.

Oil lubricates the moving parts of the engine, preventing metal-to-metal contact, minimizing friction and carrying away excess heat - all of which promote better fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.

The oil in your engine also removes metal shavings, dirt and other impurities which are then captured in the oil filter. Neglecting your cars oil can create other problems above and beyond the effects on fuel economy. Improper oil maintenance could lead to replacing the engine itself. Keeping a record of when you last had the oil changed will ultimately help you save gas.

The interval between oil changes is very important. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel has written a 143 page book of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and dollars at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
The Argument for Saving Gas Using Nitrogen

There seems to be a bit of a controversy as to whether nitrogen can help you save gas. The advocates claim if you fill your tires with nitrogen you will save gas. This is what they say:

A significant factor in poor fuel economy is under inflated tires. The EPA agency that monitors fuel usage has found that properly inflated tires can improve gas mileage by 3 percent. The EPA also estimates that 30% of the cars on the road have at least one tire under inflated.

It is estimated that drivers in the US aggregately loose more than 2 million gallons of gas every day due to under inflated tires. Decreased air pressure causes the tire to flatten which creates more surface area between the tire and the road. The greater surface area increases friction which causes the engine work harder.

When an engine works harder it uses more fuel. The more under inflated the tire is, the greater the surface that meets the highway. This in turn adds more friction and more gas is used. As the friction continues to increase it takes more and more energy to move that tire. More energy means more fuel. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of industry insider information on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
Busting the Nitrogen Saves Gas Myth

Nitrogen as an alternative to air when filling tires seems to be gaining some popularity. The fact that Costco and other retailers are now offering nitrogen fills certainly points to nitrogen filled tires as becoming more mainstream. At almost $10 per tire does it really save fuel like it is claimed to do? Here are some answers.

Let's start with a basic principle. Inhale...., now let it out. The breath you just took was 78% nitrogen. Of course you could tell that when you took that breath, couldn't you. That is the biggest problem with the assertion that nitrogen is better than air. 78% of the air is already nitrogen!

A major claim made by nitrogen advocates is that nitrogen is a larger molecule and will permeate through the tire slower than oxygen. By slowing the seepage out of the tire, nitrogen will allow you to maintain the proper pressure in the tire longer.

The natural laws of physics don't support that contention. The rate of seepage of a gas through a porous membrane depends on it's mass and on it's size. Nitrogen and oxygen are almost the same size and nitrogen is slightly lighter than oxygen. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and dollars at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
Can Nitrogen Gas Save Fuel for Your Car?

There is a relatively new strategy that you might consider that supposedly will save you fuel and money. It actually is utilizing one gas to save another gas. The gas you save is the liquid gas you fill your car with. The gas that saves this liquid gas is nitrogen.

Airlines have used this strategy on their jets and planes. Race cars have used nitrogen for a long time. Even big mass merchandiser retail outlets are starting to make it available to their customers.

Now you may be saying to yourself, alright already, what is this all about? It is all about the new rage in car and truck tires. That new rage is filling your tires up with nitrogen instead of air.

Filling tires with nitrogen instead of air is becoming so popular that even Costco now offers it to its customers when they buy new tires. Why do people want to fill their tires with nitrogen? What do they know that we don't? Why do race cars and jets use nitrogen?

Here is what nitrogen is supposed to do. It is supposed to keep your tires inflated at the proper level longer than air will. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas save fuel increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas milea
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and dollars at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
Save Gas and Money by Organizing Your Fill Ups

There are two ways to save money on gas, pay less and use less. If you plan ahead you can use less gas, pay the best price and maximize savings. Organizing when and where you buy your gas will help to reduce the amount of gas you use and the price you pay.

For starters when you plan ahead you can take advantage of special buys or coupons that will reduce your price on other products you purchase at the same time you buy your gas. Find coupons and promotions in your area that offer low prices on items that you can purchase at the same place you fill up. Most stations now have mini-mart type stores attached them. You can utilize your coupons or take advantage of promotions at the gas station in those mini- marts

Although not specifically saving on your actual fuel purchase, by combining your fuel purchase with the items bought at the mini mart you can realize overall savings. By shopping and fueling up your car at the same place you will be saving gas by not making an extra trip. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and dollars at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
The Best Way to Find the Lowest Gas Prices

There are several ways to reduce your overall expense of gas purchases even before you consider changing your driving habits or taking any actions on your car. The most rudimentary of these is to find the stations that have the lowest prices.

Seems pretty obvious doesn't it. The fact is when it comes to gas this simple and logical behavior is forgotten. If you were buying a television you would look for the store with the lowest price. Apparently we have been taught to consider gas differently. Drivers generally purchase gas where it is easiest and most convenient fuel up regardless of price. The station closest to where you live is the usual place to fill up regardless of price.

When you run low on gas and certainly when you think you are going to run out you fill up at the first station you come to. Most likely this station will not have the lowest price. Once again you are buying gas at a higher price than you have to.

One of the best ways to find a gas station that has the lowest prices is to search online. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of industry insider information on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).

There are many ways you can try to reduce your expense of gasoline purchases without having to consider changing the way you drive. You can utilize these strategies without having to modify or service your car. These methods entail the intelligent buying and proper management of your gasoline purchases.

The most basic and logical method is to shop for gas. Look for the lowest priced gasoline you can buy. Sounds so obvious it almost seems ridiculous that this article addresses that solution. But it's not ridiculous because gas is always looked at as something different. If you were shopping for an mp3 player or camera you would try to find the place with the best price. For some quirky reason we have learned to treat gasoline differently. Think about it, you most likely purchase fuel at stations where it is the most convenient rather than where the price is the lowest. You also find that you will fill up at any station you are near if you are running low on gas regardless of the price. That behavior is what needs to be unlearned. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel has written a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
More Deceptive Claims for Fuel Saving Devices!

If you are looking for a quick fix to your gas economy problem because of rising gas prices, then the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has a warning: be wary of fuel saving claims for car devices or gas and oil additives. Of the over 100 fuel saving products that have been tested by the EPA, not one of them live up to their deceptive advertising claims.

There are a number of common deceptive and untruthful ad claims used by makers and suppliers of these alleged fuel saving devices. These are some you should be on the look out for.

One product that was advertised heavily was "Fuel Saver Pro," a device that claims to be "EPA-approved."

The ads read "High gasoline prices at the pump shouldn't scare you. They won't anymore with this new EPA-approved device." They claimed that for $89.95, plus $6.95 shipping and handling, you would realize a 27 percent increase in mileage.

The fact is the Fuel Saver Pro hasn't been tested by the EPA and isn't EPA-approved. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of industry insider secrets on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).

There are all kinds of gas saving devices being advertised now. Do a search in Google and you will find that google finds 1.5 million web pages concerning fuel saving devices. As with any situation where people smell money, unscrupulous individuals are always ready to steal your money with the latest scam.

This current scam takes advantage of driver's overwhelming desire to cut their gas costs. The scam artists are using deceptive advertising to convince you that a fuel saving product installed on your vehicle will miraculously cut your fuel usage up to 30 percent or higher. The Federal Trade Commission through research and US government testing of every kind of device and additive has some advice for all consumers.

The FTC (Federal Trade Commission)) warns you to be very wary of any fuel saving claims for devices or additives. They have never found any fuel saving device that significantly enhances fuel economy in any way!

There are a few popular ads and claims used in gas saving device advertising strategy. Here are a few to watch out for:

One popular deceptive advertising scheme is this: the ad claims "This gasoline saving product enhances gasoline economy by 20 percent. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and money at the pump (beatthegaspump.com).
Gas Companies and Auto Makers Love it When You Buy Premium Gas!

Auto makers and Gas companies really like it when they are able to convince you to buy premium gasoline. They like it so much they continue to perpetuate half truths about premium gasoline. Half truths such as premium gasoline will provide better fuel economy. Half truths like premium gasoline can increase your engine's performance. Actually these aren't even half truths they are full blown myths.

Gas retailers and oil refiners love high octane fuel because it is so profitable. 20 cents more per gallon is what you pay on average for high octane fuel but the retailer only pays 8 cents more on average. The retailer has 12 cents more profit on every gallon of high octane fuel he sells.

The oil refineries make a few cents per gallon more on premium gasoline over what they make on regular when selling it to distributors. The small extra profit per gallon is multiplied by the tens of thousand of gallons of gas that refineries sell, and ends up adding thousands and thousands of dollars to their profit.

The gas refineries and retailers are not the only ones that make more money from premium gas. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of industry insider secrets on saving gas and money at the pump.
Does Using a Higher Octane Gas Improve Fuel Economy?

Is higher octane gas worth the $208.00 increase in gas costs per year? Does the higher octane premium gas result in better mileage? Is better fuel economy attained by using premium gas? Does higher octane gas enable your car run better?

If you fill your car on the average of once per week buying premium gas instead of regular, it will cost you $208.00 more per year. Generally the price difference between regular gasoline and premium gasoline is about twenty cents per gallon. That means it will cost $4.00 more per fill up if you use premium gas instead of regular gas. This assumes you have a 20 gallon tank.

Let's look at the increase in fuel economy question first. The plain and simple answer is absolutely not, higher octane gas does not effect fuel economy at all. The octane number is a rating that has nothing to do with how efficient it is in moving your car.

The octane rating is a measurement of the proportion of isooctane to heptane in fuel. In non technical terms it is a rating that grades how much energy it takes to ignite that fuel. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and dollars at the pump.
How to Save $100 to $200 in Gas Just by Checking Your Tires.

To maintain the proper air pressure in your tires takes very little effort. By doing that simple chore, you can save 4% on your annual gas costs. It is estimated that a 4% savings equates to between $100 and $200 per year. Just follow the advice listed here and start saving.

Correct tire pressure varies from vehicle to vehicle and wheel to wheel. In fact, the recommended pressure for personal vehicles ranges from 20 to over 50 psi.

The proper tire inflation amount is usually found on a tire information sticker mounted somewhere on your car. This informational sticker is found in standard places on your car. The informational sticker can be found on the inside of the trunk, gas tank door or glove compartment. Sometimes it can be located on a car visor or on a post inside a car door or on the side of the door itself. The owner's manual will also list the tire pressure information or possibly indicate where the informational sticker is located.

Many drivers have the mistaken idea that the numbers on the tire sidewall indicate the correct pressure. This couldn't be farther from the truth. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel has written a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and money at the pump.
Generic Gas Can you save you money and not harm your car!

As the price of gas continues to go up more consumers are thinking about using generic gas from gas stations that are not part of the international gas companies. The question in many drivers minds is, can I get the same quality of gas from ABC station as I can get from Shell or Exxon? Will the ABC gas be OK for my car?

The answer is yes the generic gas will work just fine. There is really not much difference between the generic gas and the more expensive branded gasoline except for additives that define a company brand. To understand how this can be you can take a quick look at how the gas refining system handles the gas it produces. This makes the generic versus brand argument easy to figure out.

In general fuel produced at refineries is what is called a generic product. In specific regions of the country gas has to meet certain environmental specifications. Because all gas in those regions gas depots are produced to the same specifications, gas refiners often share and exchange gasoline and store it in common tanks. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page book of automotive industry insider secrets on saving gas and money at the gas pump.
A Tip for Summer Driving:Save $200 in Gas by Checking Your Tires

One of the fastest ways to rob a vehicle of good gas mileage is to ignore the tires. There are many different ways that tires can affect the fuel economy of your car. Checking that you are riding on correctly inflated tires is one of the easiest ways to save money on fuel.

Energy Information Administration and EPA statistics support the fact that it is possible to save between $100.00 to $200.00 per year by maintaining properly inflated tires. Your individual savings will be unique based upon how many miles you drive and how much your tires may be under inflated.

There is at least one tire under inflated by more than twenty percent (20%) on approximately twenty-three per cent (23%) of cars based on information from the Canadian Office of Energy Efficiency. That means that almost 1 in 4 cars has at least one under inflated tire. Besides lowering your fuel consumption, under inflated wheels can also lead to steering and braking problems. That makes under inflated tires a possible danger. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy better gas mileage increase gas mileage high gas prices fuel econom
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and money at the gas pump.

If you know the smart way to purchase your gas you can save a considerable amount of money. The following strategies could save you 4 percent, 5 percent, 10 percent or even 14 percent of your gas costs.

This method utilizes credit cards that offer rebates on fuel or other gas station purchases. The correct card can substantially lower your cost of gas. You save without having to do any maintenance on your car. This savings method costs nothing at all.

Many gas companies offer credit cards that pay rebates on gas purchases. The typical card will rebate you 10% on your gas purchases for the first two or three months and then rebate you 5% on your gas purchases thereafter.

For example currently BP has a credit card that will pay 10% for the first 60 days for BP gas purchases and 5% for BP gas purchases after 60 days. These cards generally offer 1% rebates on other purchases and can be used anywhere Visa or MasterCard is accepted.

The example just listed are issued for a specific gas company. There are also general market credit cards that will provide you with a discounts off your gas costs. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy high gas prices fuel economy gas prices gas price fuel gas auto car
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving fuel and money at the pump.
Lower your fuel costs to 89 Cents For A Gallon Of Gas Now!

Discover how consumers have lowered their cost of gas to unheard of levels. One consumer paid 89 cents, another paid $1.09. They used a method that everyone uses all the time. they just applied it to gas.

In Ohio, Marion paid $1.09 per gallon when she bought gas. She was able to fill her Jetta for $12.45. The same week Kellie paid 89 cents per gallon when she filled up. You may be asking yourself how that is possible? Marion and Kellie paid those remarkable prices because they looked at gasoline prices like smart consumers look at other items.

The reason that those consumers, Marion and Kellie, could purchase gas at those prices is because they bought gas like they would buy any other item. They found a frequent buyer program that enabled them to lower their gas price. They shopped around and they found a way to buy gas at a place that had the absolute lowest price. They found it at Giant Eagle markets,a chain of supermarkets.

This grocery chain has stores in Ohio, Pennsylvania, Maryland and West Virginia. A new addition to the frequent shopping program at Giant Eagle is called Fuelperks. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy high gas prices fuel economy gas prices gas price fuel gas auto car
About the Author:
Scott Siegel has written a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and money at the gas pump.
A Costly Mistake at The Gas Pump You Can Avoid!

The costly mistake many drivers make when filling their car with gas is to overfill it by topping it off. When the gas pump nozzle clicks off, do you stop or do you keep pumping? Are you trying to add more gas your tank after the shutoff trying to stuff as much in as possible? Are you pumping more gas after the shutoff to round your total cost to the nearest full dollar amount? If either of these scenarios are true, or if any other reason causes you to top off your tank you have developed a bad habit that is costing you money and is contributing to air pollution.

Most gas stations are equipped with pumps that have vapor recovery systems to recover gas vapors keeping those vapors from getting into the air. If you top off your tank it will cause you to pay for gas that is drawn back into the gas station's vapor recovery system.

The extra gas you are trying pump may be drawn back through the vapor recovery system into the station's tanks. **End Summary** Topics: lower gas costs lower gas cost save gas increase fuel economy improve fuel economy high gas prices fuel economy gas prices gas price fuel driving tips
About the Author:
Scott Siegel is the author of a 143 page manual of automotive industry insider information on saving gas and money at the gas pump.
