Native American Hand Drums For Rustic Home Decorating

Native American hand drums are among the most famous cultural icons in the world. For centuries Native people relied on their belief in the special power of drums for the most important things in life. Hand drums have always been the most prized possession and Native instruments of choice in the areas of Native American spirituality and physical healing. Native hand drums can be very personal and carry deep trust by those charged with the responsibility of Native American healing ceremonies.

Just as each tribe is different, the Native American drums of each vary accordingly. In some tribes, hand drums are used only in secret ceremonies whereas in others, Indian hand drums are the focal point of the public ceremony. In both cases and in every aspect in between, the drum plays a key role. Hand drums are also used in sweat lodges as well as in dancing and personal meditation.

Indian American hand drums are probably most commonly called hoop drums because of their construction. Unlike pow wow drums or trunk drums made from hollowed tree trunks, Indian hand drums are made with a light weight ring of wood. **End Summary** Topics: Native American hand drums American Indian native drums Indian drums native interior decorating
About the Author:
Craig Chambers is an expert on Native drums and drumming.
Use Antler Lamps For Western Lighting With Rawhide Lamp Shades

Antler lamps are one of the most beautiful accessories available for western décor. So much more than a lighting fixture, antler lamps bring life to your room. If you have a cabin or mountain home, the rustic character of antlers with their beautiful shapes and variety of natural color will give your space the distinctive western look you desire.

Ranch owners as well as those building modern log homes have recognized antler lamps for years as the must have lighting to complete their rustic home look. Because of the smooth curves of antler lamps and chandeliers there is a natural beauty inherent in the antlers themselves that compliments perfectly any type of southwestern or western furniture. There is a dynamic with antler lamps that seems to pull every element together and firmly ground the room as a sophisticated rustic space. Antler lamps have a magic about them that seems to add balance and focus.

Antler lamps also compliment many other rustic elements for rustic décor. In the Northwest or “north woods” style antlers may be added to snow shoes and complimented with rawhide lamp shades to fashion fabulous wall sconces. **End Summary** Topics: antler lamp rawhide shades western southwest lighting
About the Author:
Craig Chambers, is the President of Mission Del Rey , an Arizona non profit organization preserving the Tarahumara Indians through traditional skills, antler lamps with rawhide lamp shades and other hand crafts.
Rawhide Lamp Shades For Rustic Lighting - How To Measure And Choose The Right Size Lampshade

The right rawhide lamp shade can make a perfect lamp. But the wrong size shade can make a beautiful lamp look out of balance. And ordering the wrong size lampshade is inconvenient and expensive. Make the right choice the first time.

Our specialty is rustic lighting and southwestern rawhide lamp shades but the technique we use will work with any lamp shade, rawhide or otherwise. Give it a try to help choose the right shade for your lamp even before you order. Follow this simple procedure to help make the right choice the first time.

First, we need to understand how lampshades are measured. You will need three measurements, bottom diameter, top diameter and height. The height of a shade should be measured straight up and down vertically…not along the slant.

Measuring Tip #1: The reason we measure height up and down, "vertically" is that the height measurement of you lamp from bulb socket base to top of harp is probably the minimum vertical height you will want to cover with your shade. **End Summary** Topics: Rawhide Lamp Shades Rustic Lighting cabin lighting antler lamps rawhide shades lampshades leather
About the Author:
Craig Chambers, is the President of Mission Del Rey , an Arizona non profit organization preserving the Tarahumara Indians through traditional skills, rawhide lamp shades , rustic lamps, drums and pottery.
