The Green Mile is a movie about a series of events on Louisiana death row in the 1930s. The original story was written by Stephen King. The movie was directed by Frank Darabont, who wrote the screenplay. Tom Hanks stars as the main character Paul Edgecomb, Michael Clarke Duncan co-stars as John Coffey.

The movie centres on Paul Edgecomb, head of the guard of a death row facility. Paul and his guards take custody of an unusual inmate, John Coffey. Coffey is a gigantic yet extremely compassionate and gentle man. Coffey has been convicted of raping and killing two young girls. At first the guards are wary of Coffey, but his kind nature soon changes the guards perception of him.

John Coffey soon displays extraordinary healing powers. He heels Paul Edgecombâ€'s urinary infection, and brings back to life a mouse killed by another inmate. The guards realise that Coffey has supernatural powers, and that they will be lost when he is executed.

The wife of the warden of the correctional facility is terminally ill. Paul Edgecomb is upset by this news of his friend. **End Summary** Topics: green mile prison movie stephen king
About the Author:
Darren Lambert is a keen fan of the Green Mile.
Stand by Me, a Stephen King movie

Stand by Me is a 1986 movie, adapted from Stephen King's story The Body. The Body appeared as a novella in King's collection Different Seasons. Different Seasons also contains the stories The Shawshank Redemption, and the Apt Pupil, both of which were made into movies.

Often described as a coming of age film, the story is of four boys who take a journey through the woodlands near their homes to find the body of a dead boy. The story is told by the main character Gordon Lachance, who is a budding writer.

Vern, one of the boys, hears his older brother talk of the missing boy, whose body is alleged to be in the woods. The boys decide to undertake the journey, to find the body of the boy. The journey takes two days, because of which the boys lie to their parents, telling them that they are staying at each others houses.

The boys experience many difficulties along the way, which reveal the past and present struggles of the characters. Chris Chambers, played by River Phoenix, is from a family of criminals and alcoholics. Chris is stereotyped because of his family. **End Summary** Topics: stand by me stephen king movie different seasons
About the Author:
Darren Lambert is a keen fan of Stand By Me.
Bid for position web directories the benefits to your website

Bid for position web directories, also known as 'bid directories', are a new concept in building text links for your website. These directories allow website owners to bid for their position in the listings. This is new concept in web directories, and is currently causing a storm in the web directory world. Careful use of bid directories can give a massive increase in targeted visitor traffic to your website.

Traditional web directories list links by predetermined criteria, such as alphabetical order, Google PageRank or listing date. Typically new additions to traditional web directories get added at the end of the current category, giving less benefit than those listed at the top of the category. Most paid traditional web directories offer featured listings, which are listed about regular links.

Bid for position web directories allow people to set their listing bid amount. Listings are displayed with the highest bid at the top, and the other listings follow in descending order. Bid for position directories tend to either display listings in categories, such as Shopping, Business, etc, or in alphabetical categories. Most bid for position web directories display the top 10 or 20 highest bids on the homepage of the directory. **End Summary** Topics: web directory bid position seo pagerank categories listings submit
About the Author:
Darren Lambert is a web directory authority.
The Shawshank Redemption, a Stephen King movie

The Shawshank Redemption is consistently voted as one of the best movies of all time. Originally a story in a Stephen King book, the Different Seasons, known as Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, the story was adapted and the movie created. The movie was directed and the screenplay written by Frank Darabont. The movie was his first major production. Interestingly Stephen King has written two stories about prisons, The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile, which happen to be the first two movies that Frank Darabont directed.

The story is a cruel one, in which Andy Dufresne, an educated and kind man is wrongly convicted of his wife’s murder. During his time in prison he befriends several people, who are criminals, whereas Andy is not. His life is changed forever, as he deals with the troubles of incarceration.

Stephen King’s excellent character portrayal is not limited to his horror stories, and the characters in this story are some of his best. One could even believe this was based on a true story, but it is not, King has confirmed. The story is upsetting, puzzling and warming, and the movies popularity confirms people association with the story. **End Summary** Topics: shawshank redemption stephen king frank darabont prison movie
About the Author:

Koyaanisqatsi a nonverbal film by Godfrey Reggio and Ron Fricke

Koyaanisqatsi is a nonverbal film, directed by Godfrey Reggio, and completed in 1982. Koyaanisqatsi contains no actors, no dialogue and has no script. Images from around the world are set to a moving score from composer Philip Glass.

In the movie Koyaanisqatsi director Godfrey Reggio tries to show the imbalance between man and nature. Shots showing the destruction of mankind are coupled and set against images of nature’s beauty and force. The images are very moving and provoke many thoughts in viewers. The musical score of Philip Glass is unconventional, as his scores often are, and yet it is a good balance to the images.

The images are shot by Ron Fricke who later went on to make the movie Baraka. Baraka has a similar theme to Koyaanisqatsi, but a slightly more spiritual theme. It was shot using 70mm, which gives a warmer and cleaner feel than Koyaanisqatsi. Koyaanisqatsi was shot between 1975 and 1982. Some of its scenes are stock footage, such as explosions and space rocket launches.
Koyaanisqatsi has its own page at http://www.spiritofbaraka.com/koyaanis.aspx with all of the details of the film and images of most of the scenes. **End Summary** Topics: koyaanisqatsi film movie nonverbal godfrey reggio ron fricke philip glass
About the Author:
