Welcome to another edition of the Destiny's Doorstep series. This series is meant specifically to journal the challenges and learning of anyone who has or is striving to take their life to another level. Authentic Reality and Inspiration

I spent some time this last month with a friend who was living his last few days. He passed away and left me with our final conversation - the duality of reality versus inspiration. Often we are told that reality and inspiration do not go together. Just as water and oil do not mix, nor do harsh reality and inspiration of the rise above and shine types of hope. Dreams are for those who do not do; reality is where you belong. Do the best you can, but not so good that you would rise above others. Listen to the words of my mouth that smile and speak words of encouragement only for the moment so that I can feel as if I have done my duty, but do not look at the fear or results of the life I have lived. Fit in the box that defines you, and stay there for my comfort. Why would I start out a piece like this? We need to get jarred out of our complacency sometimes with stark truth. Honest Awareness

My clients range from the extraordinarily wealthy who are looking for the next level in life to the most challenged who are just trying to find their feet. No matter where they are in life, all truly wise human beings know there is another level. Only the most egotistical or the truly asleep have nothing to change. I work with an 85-year-old billionaire who is constantly looking for new ways to serve and improve! Almost daily, I am asked for one suggestion that would have the most effect on people's lives. My response is that we be sincerely aware of where we are. This means that we have to put ourselves squarely in this moment and look at the situation we have created for ourselves. It does not mean changing time zones in our minds by hoping things will improve in the future, or yearning for the imaginary good old days. In this state of mind there is no leverage to create a life of magic! What is true education?

"Education Is one of the chief obstacles to intelligence and freedom of thought." Bertrand A. Russell (1872-1970) English philosopher, mathematician, and writer. I would like to touch on the subject of education. As you are all probably getting familiar with my columns, it is not going to be a traditional viewpoint, but more of a pragmatic view. It has come to my attention that much of education as we know it - formal schooling and the like - has fallen very short of the goal of actually educating someone as defined by the dictionary, which is to instruct or enlighten. How many of us know people who are highly "educated" and don't have the first clue about how to treat people. Nor do they ever apply the education that they have paid tons of money to acquire. Instead, they squander it as a trophy, a title or a trinket to prove their worth. "Education is one of the few things a person is willing to pay for and not get." Own It - Change It - Heal It

Stop and imagine this scene¦ A man sitting in the waiting room of a doctor's office; his nose is bleeding profusely. He tilts his head back so it will stop, his wife holds his hand with a look of concern on her face. You think to yourself, "Wow! I hope this guy gets in soon - he looks really hurt. About 5 minutes go by and the bleeding-nose guy stands up, smashes his fist right into his own face, which in turn starts a whole new flow of fresh pain and a stronger flow of blood. He sits back down and again puts his head back while his wife pats his hand and says that it okay. "Honey the doctor will be here soon," she assures. "You look around to check and see if you are in some sort of "Twilight Zone" movie or one of the "Hidden Camera" shows. About 10 seconds go by and the doctor emerges, horrified by the amount of blood in his waiting area. Believe in the Voice Inside You

Every sunrise you awaken and find yourself on destiny's doorstep with a choice about what you will turn this day into. Will you choose to replay the day before, or step across the threshold of your destiny to embrace the unknown? Most of us replay the prior day, reliving old stories, excuses, negative patterns, and limitations. We attempt to fit every new, magical moment into a worn-out, ineffective, outdated model of the world - a model formed by parents, teachers, and society.
