Link Building And Places To Submit Your Links

Search engines are a great way to get people to your site. The problem is no matter what you sell, search engine rankings for your keywords are most likely competitive. What makes it worse is, people usually don't bother looking for listings beyond the first few pages of the search results. The good news is, on the Internet a small company can effectively compete with companies that are willing to spend thousands of dollars for search engine optimization.

This is what makes it fun. When it comes to competing for keyword position in the major search engines you can stomp large companies in the ground. You will not be able to do it for all keywords, but you will be able to beat them consistently for many keywords. That is if you have a well thought out, persistent linking campaign.

Used effectively, link building can be one of the single best techniques you can use for getting your web site listed in the first few pages of a keyword search. Link quantity and quality are an important element of every search engine's ranking algorithms. If your site doesn't have links, it will not rank well for competitive keywords. **End Summary** Topics: Link Building Search Engines seo internet marketing website promotion Links
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
Make Money Online With Affiliate Programs

Affiliate programs can provide you with an easy way to make money online. When a business owner, who is selling a product or service online, wants to increase their sales, they seek assistance from online marketers like you. The business owner provides the products and the credit card processing, you provide the web traffic. The collaboration is normally from web masters who have a web site that is, in some way, related to the product or service being sold by the business owner.

As an example, if the product being sold is a cooking e-book, web masters with web sites in some way related to cooking are likely to form a collaboration. Most business owners will ask you to display links that lead to their web sites where their products can be purchased, in this case a cooking e-book. Affiliate programs not only benefit online business owners, they also benefit web masters who promote them.

Business owners who have an affiliate program usually use an affiliate tracking company to track internet user clicks. If a customer clicks on one of your affiliate links and makes a purchase, the tracking software will document the purchase and the amount of your commission. **End Summary** Topics: Make Money Online Affiliate Programs internet marketing
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
High Search Engine Rankings And Black Hat Techniques

Black Hat techniques are unethical techniques that some web masters use to get their site to rate higher in search engines. While Black Hat techniques temporarily do work, in the long run, they never pay off. Your temporary high will be a crash dive when the search engine spiders find out what you are doing and all your hard work will be a waste. If you want long term, high search engine listings, don't use Black Hat techniques.

Why use unethical techniques when you can legitimately increase your search engine ranking? This is the question which this article will answer. After you've read this, you'll know what techniques will get you in trouble and which ones are safe to use.

Black Hat techniques you don't want to use.

Don't use keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is the overuse of keywords in your content. This can be as extreme as repeating the same keywords over and over to try to achieve a higher ranking for that keyword.

Don't use invisible text. This involves making keywords the same color as the background. Search engine spiders can see this text but people cannot.

Don't use doorway pages. **End Summary** Topics: Black Hat Techniques High Search Engine Rankings keyword stuffing internet merketing seo
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
Quick Site Indexing By Major Search Engines

Getting listed quickly in the major search engines is what every web site owner wants to do. The best plan for getting listed quickly are submitting manually, reciprocal linking, keywords, and adding a blog, all of which we will go over in this article.

Suggestion 1: Submit your site manually to the major search engines

Most of the major search engines consider automated submissions a form of spam. They most likely will not penalize your site for trying an automated submission, but they will discard your submission. Most of the major search engines have options for you to submit your site manually.

Before you submit your site, it is important to make sure all pages are complete. Search engines don't like incomplete sites. Also make sure your site is not full of spam or disproportionate use of keywords. Search engines won't touch spam sites. You need good, relevant content.

When you submit, make sure to submit it only once to each search engine. Submit it and forget it. Submitting multiple times to the same search engine will not get you anywhere, it might even get your site excluded. **End Summary** Topics: Site Indexing search engines google Submit site
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
Search Engine Spiders And Your Robots.txt File

In this article we will discuss search engine spiders and what they do. You will also learn how to create a robots.txt file and why you might need one.

Search engine spiders are automated software programs that crawl the Web looking for pages to feed to search engines. They are also called crawlers, robots and bots. Spiders are one of the most useful programs on the internet. They are a key part in how the search engines operate. Spiders allow your site to be found by the millions of people who use search engines. Feed the spiders right and they will tell the search engines about your site.

How Spiders Work

A search engine is an index to the Internet, search engines point to relevant web sites depending on your search. Search engines need a tool that is able to visit websites, navigate the websites, decide what the website is about and add that data to the search engine.

Spiders are essentially programs that "crawl" sites and report back to their boss their findings. Their purpose in life is to make it easy for your site to get listed in search engines. **End Summary** Topics: Search Engine Spiders robots.txt file bots links
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
How To Write Title And Description Meta Tags

This article goes over the basics of the title and description meta tags and how to write them.

Meta tags are information inserted into the "head" area of your web pages to tell search engines about your pages. In the early days of the internet when the engines databases were small, meta tags were a quick way for the search engines to determine which keywords might be important on a site. Then spammers started to put keywords into the meta tags that had nothing to do with the content of their site. Today much less weight is given to meta tags. Search engines go to the actual content of the web pages to look for keywords.

There are many factors search engines use to rank your pages. Optimizing your pages to rank high involves title and description meta tags, external links, content, keywords, image alt text and design. All play a part in determining how your web pages will rank. Since the search engines use a wide variety of factors to determine site rankings, you need as much help as you can get. You should use the title and description meta tags, along with every other appropriate, lawful technique available. **End Summary** Topics: Meta Tags Web Success Blackhat internet marketing seo
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.

In this article we'll go over what a blog is, a short history of blogs, what they are used for and why you may want one.

Blog is short for "weblog." A blog is an online journal where people can post their thoughts and have them read and commented on by other people. A blogger is someone who posts on a blog. Entries are written in chronological order and generally displayed in reverse chronological order. Blogs use text, images, links, web pages, and other media forms. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs.

Blogs can be traced back to 1994 when people started keeping web diaries in which they wrote about their life. In 1998, Open Diary created a site in which its users could post blogs that had the ability to be commented on by other people. The popular free blogging site called Blogger was created in 1999. Blogger was later purchased by Google in 2003. Despite the fact that blog sites have been in existence since 1998, they have only been popular for 5 or 6 years. **End Summary** Topics: weblog blog
About the Author:
Sign up for the Web Success Weekly Email.
I Love Growing Herbs

I love growing herb plants, they are cheap and easy to grow, they grow well indoors through the winter and I get to eat them. Herb plants grown well in cheap plastic plant containers. I got a stack of them out of the trash dumpster behind my local plant store. A few packets of seeds, some salvaged containers, some dirt and it is amazing how much will grow.

Most herbs are tough wild plants which thrive when pampered by gardeners. Having a few of the basic cooking herbs growing in containers is convenient because they are all a few steps from my kitchen. If I decide I need an herb in the middle of cooking, I cut a little fresh without having to drive to the store. Herbs can be harvested by simply cutting off what you need, I keep a small pair of scissors just for that. Cooking with fresh herbs is much better than the dried stuff they call herbs that come in little plastic containers. **End Summary** Topics: growing herbs gardening Culinary herbs Lavender rosemary bay laurel marjoram dill oregano
About the Author:
Harvey Robinson is a long time grower of herbs

The Essentials of Aromatherapy and Essential Oils

Aromatherapy is a herbal medicine which uses the healing effects of essential oils, absolutes, floral waters, resins, carrier oils, infused oils, herbs and other natural substances as treatment for physical and mental conditions. Aromatherapy is based on the concept that different scents have different effects on the mind and body.

Essential oil, is a liquid volatile aromatic compound, extracted from plants. Essential oils are used in aromatherapy, cosmetics, perfumery, incense, for flavoring food and drink, and cleaning products. Essential oils are referred to as "oil of" the plant from which it was extracted. Examples are oil of antimony, oil of clove, oil of eucalyptus. The term essential means that the oil is the fragrant essence of the plant from which it is extracted.

Medical use of essential oil in aromatherapy The medical use of plant oils has a long history. Aromatherapy is currently one of the most popular ays of de-stressing. The origins go back thousands of years. Essential oils are concentrated, they generally should not be applied directly to the skin undiluted. Some can cause irritations or allergic reactions. Essential oils should be diluted before being applied. Olive, hazelnut, grapeseed are often used as carrier oils. **End Summary** Topics: herbs aromatherapy essential oil health
About the Author:
Harvey Robinson is a long time grower of herbs and webmaster of

Switch from Coffee to Green Tea

I love green tea, when it comes to the subject I'm not objective. I start just about every day with a pot of Gunpowder green tea. Not everyday, some days I have a few cups of Genmaicha, Jasmine or Kukicha Twig Tea.

I have lived in New Orleans and Seattle, in both cities coffee is in the air. Shops have fans above their roasters that pull the air out into the streets. The coffee in both cities is great. I love the smell and taste of a good cup early in the morning. Sometimes even a bad cup is good. The only problem is my body does not like it and it lets me know. The days of taking a cap of Pepto-Bismol with my morning coffee are over. What is a Webmaster going to do? Caffeine it is one of my favorer molecules. I switched to green tea. I have tried many green teas. I liked most of them but green tea is not coffee.

Green tea better be good to compare with Cafe Du Monde Coffee with beignets at the French Market or a Starbucks double tall Latte at Pikes Place Market. **End Summary** Topics: coffee green tea health teas tea
About the Author:
Harvey Robinson is a long time grower of herbs
