Top stories and blog posts from SES Toronto Day 2

June 19, 2008 in SEO by ArticleSnatch

Search Engine Strategies Toronto wrapped up yesterday. I’ll be analyzing some of the new trends that I spotted in Canada over the next couple of weeks. But I wanted to share the top stories and blog posts for SES Toronto Day 2 this morning, so you can get a sense of the highlights from the SEM conference.

Fredrick Marckini, the Founder of iProspect and Chief Global Search Officer of Isobar, gave the opening keynote. Mona Elesseily, the Director of Marketing Strategy of Page Zero Media, interviewed Marckini for the Search Engine Strategies Conference & Expo Channel on YouTube right after his keynote.

Accordion Guy Joey deVilla provides a full set of notes from the keynote in a post entitled, “Fredrick Marckini’s Keynote at Search Engine Strategies 2008 Toronto.”

Bryan Eisenberg, the Co-Founder of Future Now Inc., gave the keynote presentation on Day 2 of SES Toronto. Mitch Joel, President of Twist Image, interviewed Eisenberg about the impact of the economy on search engine marketing.

Jennifer Laycock of the Search Engine Guide Blog says, “If you only read one link from today’s Puppy’s Picks, you should check out Chris Winfield’s fantastically creative Twitter presentation from SES Toronto.” Winfield made his presentation at the “Twitter: Ultimate Time Waster or Great Tool?” session.

Rahaf Harfoush, aka The Foush, also weighs in on this session in a post entitled, “SES Toronto – Is Twitter A Time Waster?

Chris Ragobeer of The Toronto Marketing and Technology Blog covered “SES Toronto 2008 Day 2 : Web 2.0 & Search Engines.

Lisa Tarticchio of the aimClear Blog covered the “Introduction to Search Engine Marketing” session in a post entitled, “SES Toronto: Essential Return To Basics.”

Jim Crocker of the Boardroom Metrics CEO Blog “took a break from reality” to attend the Search Engine Strategies Conference in Toronto and reports his observations in a post entitled, “SES Toronto Day 2.”

Naoise of NVI’s Blog also provided some perspective on the conference in a post entitled, “SES Toronto – There’s something sticky going on here.”

Stephan Spencer shared some Social Media “Hacks” (at SES Toronto) in his presentation on the “Social Media Success” panel and commented on them in his Scatterings blog.

Meanwhile, south of the border, The Austin Business Journal reported that Austin-based Apogee will open an office in Toronto, Canada, in an article entitled, “Apogee Search sees big potential in Canadian office.”

Comment Spam on The Blog Deleted

May 8, 2008 in ArticleSnatch News by ArticleSnatch

I’m not sure about other bloggers out there, but we seem to get our fair share of comment spam.  Sure WP-SpamFree catches several hundred per day from automated bots and scripts, which is pretty cool.  I’m glad that they started tracking it and showing me the number of blocked messages in the dashboard – it sure takes the load off of askimet.

However the messages that I still have to go in and remove manually are those from people who didn’t read the comment policy – or ignored the message next to the name box that says “no keywords”.  Sure this blog is part of the dofollow movement and the commentluv movement, but that doesn’t mean your free to leave all the keyword spam you want in the comment field.

So I will continue to remove comments from people who choose to use something other than their name in the name field.  Sometimes if the comment is more than “great post” – i’ll allow a site name instead of a name.  But I really don’t understand why it is that people who write some great comments choose to have their comments removed instead of displayed, just because they are more concerned about a keyword anchor text link.

So if you want to leave a comment – I would love to have them, but please just use your name.  I really don’t like seeing so many great comments go to waste because people chose keywords instead.

Have a great weekend!

Want to find more blogs to read?

September 27, 2007 in ArticleSnatch News by ArticleSnatch

I am always out looking for new blogs to read – while I don’t necessarily spend a lot of time on any one particular blog – I do spend time skimming headlines and reading the feeds of lots of blogs. Most of which as you can imagine are on SEO and Internet Marketing.

A few days ago I bumped into a great directory that had several different blogs listed in it. I figured you might want to see this Blog Niche Web Directory. Just cruise on over there and check it out when you have time.

Till Later!

Brand New Theme!

July 31, 2007 in ArticleSnatch News by ArticleSnatch

Today we changed the theme of this blog from and older theme called Navigation-10 to a fresher faster loading theme called GenkiTheme.

I hope you like the new theme – I know I sure do – and more importantly – it loads faster and it loads the content of the post first and the sidebar second.

Along with the implementation of the new theme we also added a google custom search engine to the side bar – so you will get the results faster and you can you stay right on the blog for the search results. Don’t worry none of the results will lead you to other sites.

Remember all of our comments are “DoFollow” i.e. we have removed the nofollow attached to links in comments. But we don’t allow crappy and spammy comments. So if you want the link – just leave a good comment and it will be approved.

Thats all I can think of for now!

Feel free to use the contact form if you have any questions or leave us a comment.

Google Blog Search Patent Filing

March 20, 2007 in ArticleSnatch News, SEO Articles by ArticleSnatch

Google has filed a patent for their blog search – from this patent we can see some of the important factors that google is taking into account when they are ranking blogs in their blog search engine. These factors are different than those that they take into effect for their normal search engine.

SEO by the Sea did a great review of these factors including several factors that are included in the google blog search patent. This is a great article and covers most of the topics that are brought up in this patent.

Definitely worth the time to read for any blogger

ArticleSnatch Authors – Edit Your Profiles

March 15, 2007 in ArticleSnatch News by ArticleSnatch

I just wanted to make sure everyone was taking advantage of the ability to edit your author profile on ArticleSnatch.  To do this – all you have to do is login and then click on edit my public profile – select the pen name’s profile that you want to edit – and there you go – thats it.

On the public profile there are boxes for 5 urls – as well as a bio of up to 1500 characters.  You can upload a photo of yourself as well.  Please keep these profiles clean – anyone caught violating this rule will have their account deleted without notice.

So – want to do yourself a huge favor – just login and update your profile – or create one if you haven’t already.  Then when people want to see what other articles you have written they can also see a little bit more about you.  Remember your profile page is linked at the top of every article you write with your pen name.  Multiple Pen Names?  No problem – just make sure you edit each profile for each pen name.

After you have updated your profile page – use the “add this” button on the right hand side of the page to submit your profile page to your favorite social bookmarking site.  Or if you want to submit it to a whole lot of sites all at once – just use OnlyWire and submit it to over 15 sites with one click – thats what we do.

Your profile page will include links to all your articles and whatever else you put in the URL fields and the bio.

Have a great day – look for more email newsletters from us.

Speed Up Your Article Marketing Efforts Today!

March 8, 2007 in Article Marketing, ArticleSnatch News, Writing Articles by ArticleSnatch

I spend a fair amount of time talking to authors and finding out what you are looking for – so when I come across something that I feel you would like – I send you an email about it.

In this email I’m going to talk about one of these such products…

I just learned about this yesterday from another author on this site – we were discussing several software content spinners – that allow you to create unique articles – to help avoid duplicate penalties.  He shared with me one that he had found that not only created new articles – but it also submitted them to over 400 directories with one click – and it would submit a unique article to each one.

http://www.articlesnatch.com/jetspinner/

At first I thought that it was too good to be true – but it turns out it isn’t – and I’m using it right now.  It works great at allowing you to use randomization and create new articles – it also works great at submitting them to hundreds of sites – automatically.  To me this is worth while just to use the article submission side of things – but its even more worthwhile when you include the content spinner.

I’m always looking to improve ArticleSnatch – so if you have suggestions – please email them to me or give me a call.

Have a great day!

Life is what you make of it!

Matt Ellsworth

ArticleSnatch Update Feb 22nd 2007

February 22, 2007 in Article Marketing, ArticleSnatch News by ArticleSnatch

I just wanted to post a quick update here – we have been making some minor changes to the articlesnatch article directory – and I wanted to make you aware of them.

  • Updated Latest news page
  • Updated learn more page
  • Updated contact us page
  • added “add this” button the navigation menu
  • Reduce the number of PPC ads
  • Added Article Directory Top site list in the right hand column – please vote and rate and review us – the more traffic to us – the more traffic to your articles
  • Began promotion of RSS feeds to RSS directories – this will be an on going effort.

We are also pleased to announce that so far for the month of February alone – we have already exceeded our January traffic by over 20% – and the month isn’t even over yet.  To add to that – our Alexa Ranking has been climbing rapidly as well.

Articlesnatch is being visited by spiders from search engines all over the world include the 3 major ones – who have been visiting the site on a regular basis – not leaving from what I can tell in the log files – which is great news – and its all because of the continued support from the articles that you publish.

In closing – I just wanted to say thanks to all of our authors for your continued effort and support.  If I can do anything for you – please let me know.
