  1. Thats right and importent what Mark write. An intern link to index.html can also produce duplicate content.

  2. Google is able to decide beetween the index.html and the URL. Now, this makes no dublicate Content. Some Webmasters are the Opinion, that it is better for ranking to link to the index.html and to the URL.
