How To get the new name “keyword spam”

Don’t get me wrong here… I love seeing new comments on this blog.  But they are not there for people to spam with the keyword links that they would love to get.  They are there to leave your feedback and a link back to your site (2 if you use a blog - thanks to the commentluv plugin).  However comments left for the obvious intention of building a keyword focused link to your site - are not welcome.

I tried changing the names on comments like these to “no Name”  but I think I like “keyword spam” better.  If I get too many of these to change - they will all just be marked as spam so askimet can learn to take care of them without my intervention.  So if you choose to leave a comment and you use things that are clearly keyword spam - your name maybe changed to just that.  If you don’t want to leave your name, why not just use something like john, joe, billy, sue, mary, jen or any other common name.  Alternatively you could just leave your name and a link to your site.

Thank you for not spamming this blog.

Have a great night!

  1. Spammers are the cockroaches in the blogosphere. I absolutely detest them. I’m also petty and vindictive so I like to try to find ways to make their lives difficult.

On my blog I usually just use Akismet to spam them, but if it is a repeat offender I like to try to sign them up with other spammers.

  2. Its nice that askimet does it for you. We use askimet, recaptcha, as well as a script that doesn’t show the comment box to non humans (hopefully).
