I am sure there is a great deal of satisfaction to be gained when you find people playing /talking about something that you have wrote. But I bet there is an awful lot of hard work has to go into the finished product
Thanks, David, for those perls of wisdom. I don’t suppose anyones thought of it like that before (*late night coffee fueled sarcasm*) ANYWAY - after some searching it seems the only websites I can find on video game scripts are ones persuading people to write them, but is anyone actually doing it? As a programmer, the thought of handing over some control to civillians who don’t even know what a recursive algorithm is fills me with rage and mistrust, especially when I got that ‘A’ at GCSE creative writing. Nethertheless (excuse my spelling) I admit this sounds interesting. There are websites with millions of movie scripts, but I can’t find the ones for games, please post a link thanks.
i admire people who can create games… they are very talented and creative. i wish someday i could do atleast one game.
i would love to write scripts for video games, start with a plot with characters and a situation that follows a sequence.
i am taking classes right now to write video game script i was a tester for awhile now i want to take a bigger step into the game, i hope it will take me in the right direction.
i like playing videogames i wish i could write my own!
Perhaps it is the toughest thing on this planet to do. Even creating video games is not an easy task itself so everything related to that is as difficult as it can be.
writing a video game script would be my lifetime dream!
Budgets for some games now are eclipsing movie budgets, games are now more like interactive movies than ever before, some of the writing in games today is great - Condemned, Half-Life etc. I used to really enjoy stuff like Day Of The Tentacle - really inspired writing, I was just excited to see where the story went next. Videogame writing is as much a skill as movie writing, perhaps more so as there has to be elements of flexibility.
I have always used different game engines such as rpg maker. I recommend you to give it a try =)
