Why Voluntary Simplicity?

By: Jeffri Parker

Seeing that life becomes more and more complicated, we are trying to find a way to slow down this crazy rhythm and to stop the psychological storm we are experiencing everyday. There is a question if we are capable of making our life a little bit simpler, of going for a kind of voluntary simplicity, if we can say so. We are all comparing ourselves to famous people trying to match them in their material achievements. But we forget that in this case comparison is equal to suicide.

Unfortunately, people often forget that nothing is really more precious than life and they often use it to pay for things, which are in fact non-essential. We give up too much of our time and efforts for those things that we later realize we do not need - we are making the same old mistakes. Moreover, a lot of people waste their money to buy things they do not really need with the purpose of making an impression on other people. Do they have to do so?
The thing is that we should learn to live our lives in a more conscious way - knowing the true purpose of what we are doing. We waste too much of our energy when we react to the events, which can just be ignored, and when we do not respond to our inner voices.
It is vital to realize that mankind is going to come to an unavoidable simplification of people`s life styles in the future, because we are burning away too much of ourselves and destroying too much of our resources. And it will be much more joyful if we come to understand it as soon as possible and if we voluntarily surrender to what is right before it is too late. Think what you can do to make voluntary simplicity possible this very day and this very minute!
