Why Are Gas Prices So High And What You Can Do

By:

Lately the price of fuel has gotten completely out of hand. There are things you can do. Are you thoroughly disgusted with obscenely high gas prices? Is there anything the average person can do? Are you sick of just whining about it? Do you think somebody should do something? Do you want to cry every time you pay for fuel? Are you ready to do something about it?

Why are gas prices so high? Supply and demand is the obvious answer. Demand is enlarging quicker than supply is enlarging because of international pressure for gas It would appear the age of affordable fossil fuels and energy are gone forever.

America has refused to produce and refine more oil. The excuses are anyone's guess. Everyone understands that oil drilling and new refineries will have an ecological footprint; however the impact on the "ice turtle" has to be balanced with the impact to our economy. Many Americans feel the pain every time they go to the gas stations. This is senseless. America has the resources to reduce its dependence on foreign oil, but chooses not to use them.

What can you do about high gas prices? Let your elected representatives know that its current policy will no longer be tolerated. Ask them "Why are gas prices so high?" Don't accept political gobbledygook. Make them tell you why they haven't supported the US constructing a new refinery in over 30 years. Beyond starting an oil field in your yard, it's all you can do to affect supply.

So, why are oil prices so high? Demand is the one thing you personally can have some control over. A generation ago operating a car required more than just turning a key and going. You had to adjust the choke for instance. You had to check your oil weekly. You had to change your own flats. You didn't have cruise control. To affect demand you will have to stretch your comfort zone.

What does that have to do with high gas prices? Just trying to get you prepared for how you can double your gas mileage. You can wait for alternative energy cars that are mass produced in 15 to 30 years, and keep paying ridiculous prices for gas, or you can do something NOW.

Alternative energy is not new. Civilization has been exploiting nature for energy since recorded time. Think hot springs, whale blubber, horses, fire, sailboats, wind mills, water mills, dogs, oil, and coal. But history need not repeat itself, as far as transportation goes these all simply won't do, especially when you already own a at least one vehicle.

There is a device you can assemble from commonplace materials for under $60 that will get better gas mileage. It will burn hydrogen gas from water, on an as needed basis. It then mixes the hydrogen with gasoline in your engine where it is safely ignited, resulting in more efficient use of fuel. Using simple tools to make the contraption it will take you a late evening to complete, and less than an hour to install. Here is the issue you will have to maintain it, this could take up to 30 minutes a month. Is six hours per year a fair trade for half off gas?

Why are gas prices so high? They don't have to be.
