When do We Remember God

By: Andrew Schwartz

For me, there was a time when I took God as well as my life for granted. It was the period in my life when all seemed to be right and there were no obstacles on the smooth road of my life. My husband and I were going to become parents for the second time and we were both somewhere in heaven, until one day, when we got a telephone call from the Genetic Counselor. We got to know that our second child had a very weak bit of heart and a Down Syndrome. It seemed that our entire life and our world were ruined. In that moment when our lives changed considerably and could not do anything, we appealed to God asking him for help. It s needless to say that in the end we did not save our baby, she died at five months into the pregnancy. Our lives were ruined, and remember questioning God, asking him why did he choose our family, saying that we are not bad people.

A few months later, when the pain was already not so terrible, I made my heart open to God and finally understood that he was always by my side. He answered my prayers. The problem was in my blindness that is why I could not see it. I understood that he did much to me and my family for what I have to thank him. I have a daughter, she is very beautiful and what is the most important she is healthy, my child is everything to me, without her my life would be senseless. I realized that God hears all our prayers and everything he does he does because of great love to us, his creations.
