Various Types Of Acne That Affect The Skin

There are different types of acne that can affect a person. It is a good idea to have a basic idea about them in order to obtain the right treatment.

Use An Appropriate Acne Cream

Acne is one of the most common skin problems that can affect people of all ages. It generally occurs on the neck, chest, back and face where it looks most ugly. The main problem with acne is that it is very painful and can leave deep scars that may also become permanent. Some of the common types of acne are whiteheads and blackheads, which occur as small outgrowths on the skin of the face and neck. These occur due to excessive secretion from sebaceous glands, which clog the pores and forms tiny bumps. Squeezing out such outgrowths is not a solution as they keep reappearing. Instead one should keep the face clean and also use an astringent which will help to tighten the pores.

One can also be affected by pustules and papules that are bigger in size and reddish in color. Sometimes they may be filled with yellow pus. These outgrowths also occur due to excessive secretion of sebum and accumulation of dead cells, which are favorable conditions for bacterial infection. One should never try to squeeze out such types of acne as most of them may not even have a head or opening. This will just make the swelling increase and take longer to heal. One can use an acne cream, which can be readily bought at drugstores. Such ointments contain benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, chemicals that help to control sebum secretion and prevent clogging of pores.

Balanced Diet And Daily Exercising Keep Skin Clear

Sometimes people can be affected by severe acne, which appears as big red swellings and fills up a large portion of the face. Such outgrowths cause a lot of pain and can heal only with proper medical treatment from a skin specialist.

This condition is popularly known as acne vulgaris, and the affected person may be prescribed antibiotics to counter the bacterial infection. Other types of acne that can cause pain and scarring are nodules, cysts and acne rosacea. These form as large red outgrowths that are painful and may be filled with pus.

One should take some general precautionary measures like cleaning the face twice a day with water and patting it dry to prevent acne. Also one should never leave makeup on overnight, as that can clog pores and cause skin allergies. It is also essential to have a healthy diet that is rich in green vegetables and fruits and low in fats and dairy products. One must also have six to eight glasses of water daily to flush out toxins from the body. Regular exercising is also necessary to keep secretion of hormones under control and prevent such outgrowths from erupting.

However, while mild acne can be treated with over-the-counter acne creams and other kitchen remedies, severe types of acne require specific ointments and oral medication from a skin specialist.
