Checking on how a package is doing by telephone has been the established way of doing business for a long time. Most companies that offer Boston courier service have for years had a phone update system of some kind in place. Now though, the trend has been to shift to online status update systems.

However, many customers are happy with the way things have been. Although many clients do like the transition to online technology, there is still a strong contingent that has no desire to have to learn a new way to check the status of their packages.

This is why most courier companies that have implemented new online status checking systems still have kept a method for customers to check their packages via phone as well. That way, they have the new accessible internet technology for those who want it without alienating new customers. It is also nicer to have two methods to check packages. That way, clients always have the option of choosing the method which is most convenient to them on any given day.

Even if companies want to do away with any old automated system for phone status updates, they still like to leave a number that people can call to get updated on their clients. This is usually something they especially want to offer their long term clients if they make a change to the way status updates are offered. In those cases, the customers can just speak to a representative at the company that can use the online status system for them. Not the preferred way of doing business, but a good way to keep old customers happy if the old system does need to be removed.

There are advantages to offering both types of status updates. Sometimes being able to check a status of a package by phone offers more availability to clients that are extremely mobile. Other times, when you're at the office for example, online checks are easier. That is why most companies like to offer both. You shouldn't worry that your company isn't going to have at least some method for you to check your status by phone.
