Themes To Inspire A Boy's Decor

By:

Let's face it, our little boys aren't always going to stay little as we wish. So when they want to change their bedrooms what should they decide as a theme?

It is quite simple to come up with a design with your little man once they get out of the toddler stage and is ready for the real world. Let him make as many choices as possible with a few rules so it seems as if he's growing into a man with mommy just around the corner.

Furthermore, a well-chosen theme can give a boy a unique bedroom that can be adapted as he grows and his interests change and mature. Start by talking with him about what he likes the most, and then build on those ideas.

A Boy and His Pet: Does your little guy have a pet? Dog or cat, fish or bird, or even frogs and snakes that give Mom the creeps can serve as both image and color for a boy's room. Start by choosing the color scheme, such as blue and deep gold if he keeps goldfish or shades of green for reptiles and amphibians. Next, take lots of photos of your son and his pet and hang them around the room. Put up posters of animals like your son's pet. If he's young enough, include some stuffed animals as well.

Serengeti Safari: Animal wallpaper borders and fabrics are a great place to start for a safari theme. Match the paint colors to the wallpaper and fabric designs, then add pillows in animal prints. Mount a straw hat and some play binoculars on a wall to give him his safari equipment. Frame some of his animal drawings and display them on the walls. Or get a disposable camera, go on a backyard safari together, and frame his animal photos.

If your little boy is into the outdoors then maybe a cabin is his future home. If you're able to come across a great pine or log bed with a few flannel or plaid sheets he'll be set in the rustic adventures. Another great idea for a toy box for this type of room is an older yet sturdy trunk. What a look!

Space always for some reason captures the boy's attention. Maybe it's the unknown live which lives among these planets or maybe it is because of the aliens. Either way you can create a wonderful space theme in your child's room. By adding those glow in the dark starts and planets on the wall and even on the ceiling to hanging a wonderful solar system from the ceiling is great ideas. Copy a few photos out of a science book and you have a great learning room!

Why not choose a great village theme for the boy who loves to do everything? Make each part of the room a different area such as a general store, doctor's office, and even a pet shop. Come up with names which include his name or something that he enjoys as their official titles and he'll feel as if he's the sheriff in the town.

Cars are one theme no matter what age, the little boys love. Whether it is Cars the movie or just fast cars that love to race you'll have a theme. Bring a few checkered flags, green, and yellow flags into play and he'll feel as if he has a race track in his room. A few shelves for his model cars and he is set.
