Themed Weddings Require Special Touches To Make Them Perfect

By:

The royal wedding of Kate Middleton and Prince William has inspired many couples around the world to celebrate their union with decorative veils and dresses that add the occasion. Although only a few women wear hats anymore there is a trend to bring back some of the Victorian styles of fascinator veils and feathered hats that were the height of fashion during the Victorian period in history. Themed weddings are also becoming popular for young women that want to make their special day even more memorable.

A few months ago I attended the wedding of my wife's niece who had chosen a pirate theme for their celebration. Although the actual ceremony was very traditional the wedding breakfast and reception were centered on the style of the classic pirate motif. Wearing a modest dress that had a bustle and bodice that was reminiscent of the 1600's and 1700's the bride was adorned with one of the fascinator veils that was a designed to include feathers that formed a flowering bouquet.

When it came time to serve the cake the couple enacted a dual with the groomsmen who were attempting to carry off the bride. The groom came to the rescue, but in the end it was she who saved him for the battling swordsmen. It was a wonderful change of pace to the more refined wedding receptions that I have attended, but it was the perfect complement to the couple's personality.
Across the county there are brides that are looking for a unique theme to carry over from their gown to the floral arrangements to the decorations for the reception hall. Adding a few elegant touches to their day makes a wedding party more festive and certainly more memorable. As the bride and groom are required to add their signatures to their marriage license and keep a certificate of their nuptials there are a few couples that add the antique styling of novelty certificates to the list of items that are making their day special. Although I did not have a chance to see the official certification that was filled out by the minister, the couple and their official witnesses I imaging that my niece choose a fancy font that declares their bonds of matrimony and which is probably printed on a piece of parchment for authenticity.

Dating back to the Victorian period of history a number of replicas of official documents feature calligraphy and have detailed depictions of floral patterns and even places to add photographs of the couple. Whether looking for feather wreaths to brighten up the decor of the reception hall or choosing one of the fascinator veils to complete the wedding dress, couples that are tying the knot can find a number of extra special items that make their wedding day one that will live on in memory for many years to come.
