Themed Events For All Occasions

Themed Events For All Occasions

People tend to like themed events and parties. The theme adds an extra dimension to what is otherwise essentially just a lot of people in a room with nothing to tie them together except alcohol and music. Now, in an awful lot of cases that is all you need, but having a theme can really set something off and make it an event to remember. Just think about all those decadent parties you always wished you could have gone to where it looked like you were taking part in some sort of Victorian orgy or were travelling through space on a psychedelic mind-rocket. Thats the effect you can create with a themed event.

Of course, the above examples are perhaps a little extreme for most peoples idea of a themed party, but you get the idea. The problem is that most people seem to think that themed parties can only really happen at certain times of year. There is a peak for beach parties in the summer and winter wonderland parties around Christmas with the obligatory Santas Grotto, but in truth there are all sorts of seasonal themes that people are missing out on to add that extra special something into their themed event.

A cursory glance at your calendar will throw up all sorts of minor public holidays and events that you were probably previously unaware of, and all of these should be seen as an opportunity for a themed party that will make you the talk of the town. An obvious example is St. Patricks day: everyone wears green and drinks Guiness; but there are much more interesting ones to have a stab at, and dont forget, the same opportunities for a seasonal themed parties are just as good as excuses to have the party in the first place.

The Queens official birthday is in June, so you could perhaps host a royal themed party where all your guests are dressed up as kings, queens, princes and princesses for the night; perhaps even as members of the real royal family. Kids go back to school in September providing a golden opportunity for a back to school themed party: get some giant pencils, a couple of chalkboards, make everyone wear a school uniform youll feel 16 all over again. Maybe make a bike shed for people to sneak behind?

You can also hi-jack other nations holidays: Australia Day takes place in January where our cousins from down-under celebrate obtaining independence from us, giving you the perfect chance to dig out all your old kangaroo and koala bear toys (weve all got them) and have an unseasonal barbecue which will afford your guests a welcome preview to the warmer months ahead.

Whatever your reason for throwing a party, a themed party is almost always more memorable, and raises a standard event into an experience for all your guests. There are plenty of theme party ideas to be had just by looking at the calendar, once youve had the idea, then its down to the real work of making yours the themed party to end all themed parties!
