The Playstation 3 games are abbreviated as PS3 games, produced by Sony computer entertainment. It competes with Nintendos Wii games and Microsofts Xbox 360 as the seventh generation of video games consoles. Its major feature that distinguish it from its forerunner is its unique online gaming service, the Playstation network other features include connectivity with Playstation portable, rugged multimedia capabilities, and the use of high definition optical format, Blu-ray Disc. It was first released on November 11, 2006 in Japan, November 17, 2006 in North America and March 23, 2007 in Europe and Oceania.

There are altogether 5 PS3 hardware models known by the size of their hard disk drive "20", "40", "60", "80" and "160" GB models. All of the packages including one or two Sixaxis controllers and/or a DualShock 3 controller, one composite video/stereo audio output cable, one miniUSB to USB cable, one power cable and one ethernet cable. The 60 GB model in comparable to 20 GB model has internal IEEE 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, chrome colored trim and multiple flash card readers. The 80 GB model in terms of hardware is similar to the 60 GB model except the difference in the hardware size. The 40, 80 and 160 GB models have two USB ports instead of four and exclude multiple flash card readers, SACD support. There are no releases of Wi-Fi or flash memory card readers for the 20 GB system but plans for the releases by Sony are on the way. After the first week of the sales of the release of Playstation in North America, it was confirmed that Resistance: Fall of Man from Insomniac Games was the top-selling launch game in North America and was heavily praised by many video games website. At Japan Ridge Racer 7 was the top-selling game, while Mobile Suit Gundam: Crossfire also fared well in sales and even in Europe the launching of Playstation 3 games was very successful. The games was given the number 8 on PC World magazines list of "The Top 21 Tech Screwups of 2006,"
