The problem with using weight lifting machines is that they do not allow your body to move like it should naturally. Now, these machines will help you build muscle and muscle burns fat but, you are trapped in a single plane and range of motion which is not the way you were meant to function and if you start lifting with free weights the benefits will become readily apparent.

Free weights free you to do exercises like the clean and jerk, the dead lift, the single armed dumb bell snatch and a whole slew of other exercises that bring multiple muscle groups into play and give you a whole body workout. These exercises will cause you to exert so much effort that you will actually go into a state of metabolic shock for days after and cause you to burn more calories. And, this is what getting a ripped body is all about, raising your resting rate of metabolism and getting to under 10% body fat for men and 16% for women.

So remember, avoid processed foods as much as possible. They have additives and ingredients that will actually cause you to gain fat even though you think you are being careful about what you eat. When weight lifting avoid machines and use free weights because they allow you to do the types of exercises that will allow you to increase your metabolism long after the workout is over and get that ripped body that you are looking for.
