The Thirty Minute Lunch Search

Looking for a good place to eat in San Diego can be a real tough job, especially with only 30 minutes in a lunch break. Sure, higher ups get an hour or get to have lunch meetings that let them enjoy their meals, but for most of us, we get no more than half an hour to find a place, order and eat our food, then get back to the office or site for work. It is not an ideal situation. Too bad for that, because there are so many good restaurants to try in the downtown area and all of them are as unique as they can be. Perhaps a little exploration and taste testing on a weekend when work is out would help narrow down the choices.

Figuring out what you are in the mood for is the first and hardest part, something that does not usually get to happen. Mexican food, Italian or American, a burger joint, even though you are on a diet, because that is the only thing fast enough for the short lunch break you have? This is probably the part that goes out the window fastest, the craving in your stomach telling you what your body wants and needs to keep you running at the highest energy level. Too often, though it goes so far out that people go get another cup of coffee from the break room and get back to their desk as fast as they can. That sounds like such a nasty way to spend lunch, though, so why would anyone do it? At least run down to the cart on the street and get a Danish to go with it.

Thankfully, most of us have a particular taste in mind that is always a favorite, a fail-safe for when time does not allow a true "search of your feelings" for the right food. Be that food Mexican, burgers, spaghetti, or doughnuts, it is a lot easier to keep in mind the different restaurants that sell that food with a fast guarantee. Finding a restaurant in downtown San Diego that serves that special, fast cuisine just the way you like it is pretty easy to do on a Saturday. Then keeping a list of the places with food you like and possibly how long it takes to walk there from work in your smartphone makes getting lunch food easy on a busy work day.
