The Silent Damage Being Done To Us

By:

There is a new damage to us and our world that most people don't even know about because this damage will come from our old abandoned mines. We have an estimated 500,000 of these mines nationwide. The damage to us is coming from all of the heaps of toxic wastes that have been allowed to lie around and dry. This dried waste is then picked up by winds that will carry all of this toxic dust for miles. This dust could have some very high levels of arsenic that is very dangerous to us and the wild life that happens to be breathing it on a daily basis.

With all of these abandoned mines and the mounds of waste around them nationwide, we really need to be doing something to get them cleaned up to remove this silent damage risk to stay. As many of these sites had at one time been out of the realm of our sight with the growth of our cities, we have put ourselves closer to them. As people and even off road bikers have been looking to find places away from the bustle of the city, they have put themselves closer to these silent damages because they are breathing in this dangerous and deadly toxic dust. Most of the time they don't even realize the dangers until the damage is done.

If you go out say around these areas and you know of this abandoned mine in the area that you are riding in, if the wind in really blowing hard you might want to think twice before riding through this wind and never do a lot of fast turns that might whip up a lot of the dust that will also cause the damage to your lungs. As the longer these mounds of waste are allowed to lie, nature by way of water or snow is allowed to mix into the dirt and will bring the levels of poisons closer to the top of these mounds.

Not only are there large amounts of arsenic in these mounds but there is lead and mercury, and these will also cause damage to us by sending all of these contaminates into the air we breathe and the food we eat. The higher the wind, the farther this silent damage can travel, reaching your backyards and even your children playing in your backyard. Over time, this can cause your children to have some severe breathing problems that you might not expect them to have.
