Paxil is part of a group of antidepressants that is called the SSRI or Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors drug group.It has the ability to restore serotonin balance which is a natural substance found in the brain. Serotonins main purpose is to improve mood problems. Because it works like this, Paxil is usually prescribed to help with obsessive-compulsive disorders, depression, anxiety, premenstrual dysphoric disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders.
Like many of the other drugs in the SSRI group, Paxil has its own side effects.
Paxil has also been known to cause several other more severe side effects which include: bizarre behavior; tightness in the chest; difficulty breathing; decreased coordination; and exaggerated reflexes. Others are confusion; restlessness; seizures; suicidal tendencies; worsening of depression; severe or unusual mood or mental changes; vision changes; and unusual bleeding or bruising among others.
There have also been several studies that have shown that Paxil has been ineffective in helping children under the age of 18 with their depression. These studies have shown that children who have begun to use Paxil have higher suicidal tendencies than those who do not.

Paxil is now currently a Pregnancy class D Drug. The FDA states that a Pregnancy Category class D drug is described as: There is positive evidence of human fetal risk based on adverse reaction data from investigational or marketing experience or studies in humans, but potential benefits may warrant use of the drug in pregnant women despite potential risks.
The FDA would like to warn users about its potential to cause Paxil Birth Defects. However it is very important for you to have enough information about Paxil, especially if your currently suffering from the potential side effects of the drug.
