The Significance Of Mothers Day

By:

Mothers day is a very special occasion that one looks forward to all the year around, as it gives one an opportunity to surprise ones mother and dedicate an entire day to her. A mother is the single most important person is our lives. She is someone who is there for us through thick and thin, who supports us through all our goals and plans, and gently admonishes us when we are wrong. She accepts us the way we are, does not expect us to change and loves us just the same no matter what happens. Mothers can be irritating at times, they might get on our nerves and make us lose our temper, but one thing is for sure: you can never grow any less fond of your mother. One realizes the significance of mothers day especially when one is away from home. This is when we miss mother the most. We miss the warmth of her presence, the assurance that things will be all right and the support that can be taken for granted.

Mothers day is the ideal occasion to celebrate the beautiful phenomenon that is ones mother. One is very lucky if ones mother is around and should grab the opportunity to try to repay her for all that she has done for you. Mothers day is generally celebrated on the second Sunday of May. This tradition was introduced by Anna Jarvis in the year 1912. After an active bout of campaigning, the custom of setting aside a single day in the year especially for mothers was established. Since then mothers day has been as much of a tradition as Christmas and is celebrated with enthusiasm all over the world.

If you feel that your mother has ever neglected, abused or ignored you, mothers day is the perfect occasion in your grown up life to discuss the issue with your mother and understand her point of view. Many people believe, even when they are grown up that their mother never cared for them and hold grudges through life. These are the people who are incomplete, and they should at once go about setting things right.

We all need to remember that we owe our mothers a lot and try to repay them for all the favors that they have done for us throughout our lives. It is thus our duty to nurse them when they are old and no longer able to care of themselves. It is the childs duty to take care of ones parents. The occasion of mothers day is a small but significant occasion where one can show that he/she really cares about his/her mother.

Thus rather than just buying your mother a perfunctory gift, try to realize the significance of the day. It is no point celebrating the day if you do not value the true importance of your mother. Thus next mothers day, go all out to make your mother fell special and wanted and do not leave any stones unturned in your efforts.
