The Principle of Giving - Giving Actually Gets You More.

By: Lynette Chartier

It is now a well-known fact that has been proven time and time again - in order to receive one must practice the principle of giving.

We often believe that we must have more in order to start giving or in order to give joyously. Not so. It is in fact by giving that you trigger the mechanism that allows you to receive.

By giving from what you currently have, you are sending messages to your subconscious mind that you believe that there is plenty to go around. This process will actually start to attract more into your life.

If you are a generous person when you have little, having more will simply make you more generous in the actual amount that you give. However the frequency and the joy with which you share is not likely to change.

The definition of tithe from dictionary.die.net means
1: a levy of one tenth of something 2: an offering of a tenth part of some personal income.

The act of tithing has often been associated with various religions, however you can tithe in non-religious contexts. The act of tithing sends a powerful message that you are confident that more is on its way.

When you believe that the world is abundant, you recognize that the limited dollars in your pocket is simply a passing phase. Like a river, money is energy and we need to keep it moving and circulating. We have seen in nature that water, which does not move becomes stagnant.

Just like that water, if money does not circulate in your life - the energy of it will be blocked. In fact that is all that money is - a'' form of energy and a means for exchange to occur.

We need to stop giving our power away to money. It is wise to work at reclaiming our power from within and to follow our passion. Start thinking about what kind of service you would like to provide to others in order to receive. You will soon see that the required means is at your disposal - such has been my life experience.

"Some people give time, some money, some their skills and connections, some literally give their life's blood. But everyone has something to give." Bush, Barbara

Giving does not need to be in a monetary currency if your current bank account does not allow that. It is not a question of going into debt.

We all have wealth that we can share with others whether that be on the intellectual plane or the spiritual plane. We can share the spirit of opulence by starting on any plane and then we will start to see our bank account increase.

The spirit of opulence is not about having more to hoard, but having in order to increase circulation, in empowering and productive ways.

"Life, like a mirror, never gives back more than we put into it."' Anonymous

Having said that, it is most effective to give that which you most need to receive. What do you feel you want more of: love, money, respect, and appreciation? Start giving what you most want to attract in your life as giving gets you in the flow of life.

A word of caution - giving needs to come from a place of feeling good and not from a place of sacrifice. Sacrifice stems from a lack mentality and leads to resentment.

In the principle of giving it is important to understand the wrong type of giving. This type of giving is the unspoken agreement that promotes lack of effort, lack of cooperation, lack of communication, and this giving is so destructive.

Frequently the wrong type of giving exists in our schools, work places, and homes. It occurs when people agree not to do their best if others do not do their best. In the work place it is heard in comments like, "When you get so much done you make the rest of us look bad."

In schools, we see it among kids when they make the agreement that they will not cooperate in the class activity. Gossiping and judging others are forms of wrong giving. When pointed out, these forms of giving are obvious, however frequently we do not stop to question our behavior and ourselves.

"The words you use to describe others make sharp You-turns. Your judgments, criticisms, and compliments boomerang back to you. What you say about others, you're also saying about yourself" Tavis Smiley

One of the greatest gifts we can give ourselves and to others is to be our authentic best self. When we act in order to please others, in order to accommodate everyone else, or to perpetuate our identity of victim, we end up taking on layers that are not the real us. Eventually such layers cause us conflict and hold us back from our best self.

The principle of giving is part of a strong foundation to success, and there are many wonderful and creative ways to give.
