The Lake District is best known for its lakes but there is also a phenomenal amount of walking that can be enjoyed by all abilities. It is easy to find something suitable for all abilities, ranging from a gentle ramble, a mountain walk or an exhilarating high-level traverse.

Although the area is relatively small, Cumbria is home to Englands only five peaks over 900 metres high. Scarfell Pike is the highest mountain in England and is within the Lake District National Park. The area is also famous for its mountaineering opportunities as it is the centre of English rock climbing and the countrys most popular upland walking area. It is also possible to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life and discover truly wild and secluded landscapes that are rarely visited by walkers.
